The defense was bad under Eberflus? Bro, that's the only reason he stayed on this season and only Getsy got canned was because the defense was really good.
It may have felt that way but take a look at the defensive stats every year he coached. Mostly everything is in the bottom half of the league. Wasn't terrible, I mean in 2023 most teams stayed away from running against us but that just meant they were more than happy to shred through the air despite the Bears snagging a bunch of interceptions. We were pretty mediocre and hopefully that improves.
Defense was top 10 until the Washington game then the players lost faith in Eberflus and didn't give a shit. The defensive group they have is solid with the addition of a few extra pieces and with good coaching they can be great.
@@dtownmackThat play destroyed the locker room. From about halfway through last season till that Hail Mary, that Defense was the strength of the team Flus is a good DC just a pretty awful head coach
Lovie Smith being fired after a 10-6 season was reminiscent of the Bucs firing Tony Dungy who was perennial winner in Tampa but could never quite get over the hump. Tampa went all in on getting to & winning a SuperBowl & targeted Bill Parcells as the next coach but he declined so they traded a haul to Oakland for Jon Gruden. Like it or not, the Gruden gamble paid off with a SuperBowl his first season. That was my immediate thinking when Lovie got fired & they brought in an offensive minded coach in Trestman. Where the Bears failed where the Bucs succeeded was Tampa retained their architect DC Monte Kiffin & Gruden strictly focused on offense. Bears could not retain Lovie's DC Rod Marinelli & Trestman's DC ended up being the absolutely horrible DC Mel Tucker who took a SuperBowl level defense & turned them into shit in just 2 seasons. While the Bucs gamble paid off with a Lombardi, the Bears crapped out & have yet to even win 1 single postseason game since firing Lovie Smith. This same warning should be issued to Steelers fans who want Tomlin gone. It might pay off like it did for Tampa Bay in 2002 or it might fail miserably & set your team back for over a decade like it did for Chicago in 2013
As a lions fan Ben has been amazing. It is hard to give him a lot of credit for the offensive turnaround though. Trading for Goff and Montgomery and drafting st brown, Gibbs, and laporta has and having a new culture changed that offense. Either or unlike other lions fans I hope Ben Johnson is successful, I am just saying hopefully the bears and their fans aren’t hoping he was the reason for the lions offense solely and expect him to do that there
I mean we are about to see if your right or wrong next season, because you could say without him at the helm of lions playbook a lot of those player might do a lot worse. Or maybe both teams will do great because it just takes a amazing coordinator/offensive coach and Amazing star players to put up one of the highest scoring offenses within a 3 year span.
@ to be clear I’m not saying Ben Johnson shouldn’t get credit for lions amazing offense. I’m really just commenting on people giving him most of the credit and to me it isn’t fair for him because it sets unrealistic expectations for him
@ yeah i definitely think as a bears fan our offense will show great flashes next year but unless the lions and Vikings just collapse compared to last season we aren’t gonna win the division.
@ and if it comes down like last year for wild card spots we might miss the playoffs again. Also it will take at least two years to fix the O line to a consistent Line.
@@Caldone You guys have all the talent to be great next year. Just don’t give up on Williams to fast lol Dude is great just needed a better situation coaching wise

Defense was top 3 in the second half of 2023 and looked extremely sharp the first six games of 2024. But after the Hail Mary, this team just fell apart. I will say I didn’t understand why they brought back Flus. When Flus brought on Waldron at OC, I knew this was gonna be a disaster after seeing JSN’s response to the question “How do you feel about Shane Waldron”. Having an offensive minded coach now is exactly what this team needs, and with Dennis Allen potentially on board for DC, this team could turn things around rather quickly. Super excited for 2025!
Love the video but u forgot about trestman and also flus was a great defensive mind. I don’t like the guy or hate him but his defense was always very very solid given the talent around him.
Call me skeptical all you want, but unless the Bears ownership can keep their hands off meddling in football affairs, this Bears team will forever be weighted down. Plus, the NFC North is shaping up to be another "hood" division like the AFC North, except with more history and enmity between the teams. For all the bad trades and poor coaching hires the Bears have been known for over the years, this falls on the shoulders of the front office, and specifically the owners. It's the ownership that is responsible for the current mess that they are in, and they refuse to hire the right personnel for whatever reasons you can imagine (greed, ego, incompetence, or any combination of the three). Even when the Bears actually got something right (usually on the defensive side of the ball), they just cannot capitalize on whatever gold they struck. Until the Bears ownership can actually not interfere in football operations, it really does not matter who they hire as their head coach or have under center.
Everybody needs to slow down. I've been a bears fan for over 40 years. I need to see it performs on the field and win games.. The owners are still garbage and keep repeating the same mistakes... I'm not gonna fall for it anymore. Just because of a new shiny toy..
You can tell this dude has never watched a bears game. Eberflus built a solid defense but sucked at everything else. Caleb did make the offensive line look worse than it was, but it was still bottom 5, not “mid” by any means. And swift was mid at BEST in 2024.
The only way this man could have changed it. Everything within the time he did. Yeah, is by resigning. As the head coach because he's gonna get fired before we ten of the 1st season
Williams is a shit QB. His teammates can’t stand him. He’s not a franchise QB at all. Johnson is going to regret going to Chicago. Williams to busy worrying about his nail polish. 💅
Idc wat nobody says poles the reason we got the roster we have . That washington hail marry game killed us . U cant blame that on him . The fans are stupid asf for wanting him fired . U on the other hand dont watch the games so ima let u slide
So happy the bears drafted Caleb. I didn't care what qb Washington got, as long as it wasn't Caleb Williams. So when he was picked at #1 I felt relieved.

Right? I’m disappointed, I don’t think he did any research or watched a Bears game before making this video.
I agree. The defense played well. Losing Jaquan Brisker hurt us though.
@@laidbacktaps1362 Best run defense and most turnovers last year buddy
@@kingbeesy and Andrew Billings. That defense declined significantly when he got hurt.
Bro, every GM generally gets a shot at another coach before they’re fired….just like coaches get a chance to change their OC and DC at least once.
The defense looked elite this year until after the bye, and then just kinda quit.
At least Thomas Brown was undefeated against the Packers

so it was good for 30% of the season? thats not good
The roster is soft up the middle on both sides of the ball.. this can be fixed in two drafts or one of they make a trade. 👍

Give me a headset baby 😤
And now Lions fans are praying to every deity under the sun that Dan Campbell can replace both his OC and DC and keep the Lions competitive
I still think the Lions will be very good next year and this is coming from a Bears fan
I disagree with your take about Ryan poles. Ryan Poles was the reason we’ve gotten all this talent on offense. He’s just struck out on head coaches
