QCTP locking (piston type) mechanism repair.

Repairs to my quick change tool post.
My new lathes QCTP locking mechanism lever does not have enough movement. It leaves the lever out over the work and does not lock properly.
After I stripped it down I found that it has a non adjustable cam so decided to surface grind the piston plates. Worked out great.

I have a piston type qctp, the pistons are not interchangeable in the holder, different lengths, must be installed correctly to get the lever clocked correctly.
The leading piston is shorter than the trailing piston.
In your case the pistons where installed in correctly I assume.

After I ground them both work well and to the same movement on handle. Remember I only removed 0.4mm from them. They work great after grind. Lever was short pull using either position.
