I’ve loved this song since the 60s who else is listening to Cristian today in 2024what a song I was brought up to these fantastic songs 🇬🇧❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I have great memories of Crispian St Peters (Pete Smith). I was fortunate enough to be part of his backing band at the time of his chart successes in the mid sixties. Touring with him was always a treat and he had a great sense of humour. I was so sorry to hear of his passing.
He had a reputation for being a delusional arrogant ass. In an interview he said he was going to be bigger than Elvis Presley, & he was a better songwriter than John Lennon & Paul McCartney.
this is just magic !! i just love all crispians songs,,he,d knock the socks off singers now days,,they just dont have it,,just magic i love crispians songs xxR.I.P ITS SO SAD HES GONE.XX
There are very few artists who can 're-sing' their #1 hit song and make it sound like the original recording; this is true talent. This is the style that made the tune a hit! Most unfortunately, many (most?) recording artists, after becoming famous, feel they can take 'poetic license' and they totally ruin the very song which made them famous in the first place. Just my opinion of course. This was a fabulous performance; I pray that Crispian is resting in peace. An untimely death. Thank you for this upload; I just subscribed to your channel because of it!
I totally agree ! Hence , I never like artists re- recording their same hit songs . It’s just NOT the same and destroying their hit songs in the process .
You're dead right: there are very few artists who years later can sing the hits which made them successful with any degree of credibility. I thought at first I was listening to him miming to a backing track it's so close to the original. Fantastic. Part of the soundtrack to my childhood growing up with the sounds ( especially British ones) of the 60s.
I always love that song and I love the away st peter tell the story of the song. I think it's a song a girl he liked and he wanted to follow him. I'm deeply in love with that song only it's extremely Happy Song for real
Language Watch Edit The Pied Piper is a 1972 British film directed by Jacques Demy and starring Jack Wild, Donald Pleasence and John Hurt and featuring Donovan and Diana Dors.[2] It is loosely based on the legend of the Pied Piper.
Back in the stone ages, when artists could actually sing live and sound as good as a studio cut. But don't tell the millenials that, or they will post nasty things about how old you are on Facebook.
1966 was one of the best years in the history of 20th century music. All the records on the radio seemed to have their own distinct sound and production techniques.

This show was actually called 'Unforgettable' and there was 3 series - Series 1 broadcast on ITV from December 1980 to February 1981 then Series 2 was broadcast on Channel 4 from November 1982 to December 1983 and Series 3 was broadcast on Channel 4 from January 1986 to March 1986. My Mum and Dad used to watch it and I can remember the theme tune where they used the song 'Crazy Music' by Ottowan (the Disco act that gave us the big hits 'D.I.S.C.O.' and 'Hands Up')

This guy had a fantastic voice. Unfortunately he had an ego to match...he claimed in an interview that he put Elvis to shame onstage and was a better songwriter than the Beatles.

@@marilynking4003 That's a silly reason to stay ignorant.

Such a catchy piece of music... It was a time of so much wonderful music...And if I was a girl, I would follow his pipe
This song brings back both tears and fond memories of Salt Lake City where I first listened to this song.
Crispians You Were In My Mind Is Excellent 👌 GRH Mr Peters💐
He plays that flute with such saucy impertinence.

I too notice that his voice is the same as it was when this song was on the charts in 1966.

What a clear talent he was what a voice god rest his soul up with the angels
I LOVE THE "FLUTES" PLAYING IN THIS SONG. ❤
Really like the voice - subtle but with strong hints of 'Roy Orbison' flavour in places. Great stuff - thanks for posting this.

Music, words, and great arrangements; loved the fills by the drummer.

What a beautiful song that came abiyt the awful event that killed so many children, So sad
Still able to sing this - and "You were on my mind," as well as on the original recordings in the 60s. Sorry to hear of his passing

When I heard this song years ago when I was a kid I thought he said, "Come on babe, follow me, I'm the five flapper" 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
His advancing age has definitely done harm to his own original version. But I respect his loyalty over all the intervening years.
Earworm!
Traeger grills brought me here today 👍

Reminds me of Jill.
