Visited the UK from NZ in 1966 , bought a camper van and travelled through Europe for eight months , used to listen to this classic on Radio Caroline , very fond memories .
I'm adding this for posterity. I'm 41 and love this song. My Mom made us listen to all of her tunes growing up. It's strange realizing that despite me thinking the 60s was sooo long ago (as a kid), I realize now it was less than 20 years before my birth. And now, the songs from my formative years are to my children what these songs were to me. To them, no doubt, my younger years are "sooo" long ago, when in reality it was just the blink of an eye. I covered this song in my band back in 1966 when it first was released. It got everyone up and dancing. This music video is wonderful and adorable with all the children. The first time seeing it.
What did you guys do for the flute part? I was in a cover band for many years but in the 2000s. We did mostly 70s rock though. Any time something like this came up I had to double up on guitar and keyboard. And it didn't always work.

I first listened to this song at the time I was living in Salt Lake City where there is a radio station that only plays pure oldies. listening to this song again certainly takes me back to Salt Lake City.

I was 13 at the time, didn't know anything about overdub, and didn't have resources to look up performers or songs. My older brother started laughing when I told him I heard a duet by two guys named Crispy and St. Peter.

The song came out in 1966 and I was five years old and probably my favorite age ! The changing times bought it out first but didn't do very good ! This song climb to number one in Canada and United States it hit 4 and in England did about the same ! One of my favorites ! 🌟

They'd tell me meaningless words. Now it all makes sense. But finding out in my 60s that all that abuse caused me to shunned, bullied and disdained has left me feeling that my life was _stolen._ I've suffered rejection everywhere. I'm struggling to put it together and make something of life. I'd like a partner one day. What's that like I wonder?

I'm a huge fan of Gene Pitney's. My husband bought tickets to see him in 1989 in San Diego. Such a thrill for me to see this man & hear him sing in person! His greatest hits CD was played often when we drove from CA to IL.

I heard this song throughout the late 60s / early 70s. It made me feel like all the punches, kicks and unspeakable things done to me by both sexes never happened for the duration of this and some other songs.

I'd been to many psychologists and counsellors and even 2 psychiatrists and no-one came close. They'd tell me meaningless words. Now it all makes sense. But finding out in my 60s that all that abuse caused me to shunned, bullied and disdained has left me feeling that my life was _stolen._ I've suffered rejection everywhere. I'm struggling to put it together and make something of life. I'd like a partner one day. What's that like I wonder?

I saw him at Carlisle UK in 1966, he was supporting The Seekers but Judith Durham was ill. Didn’t bother for a refund as we enjoyed the rest of the show.

1967 15 yrs old used to do a Cha Cha Cha to this at The Court School of Ballroom Dancing. It was above the Burton tailors shop in Enfield town.
They used all of the pop hits of the time and either slowed them or sped them up slightly! Never forgotten.

No, it was a 1957 Chevy Bel Aire. Fire Engine red. I accept age and all its consequences, but man, what I wouldn't do for 20 minutes heading north on Lake Shore Drive top, down, singing like we didn't have a care in the world, we didn't. And yes, this song was sung by me, many, many times.

I was born in 1957 and was scheduled for the USMC boot camp at Paris island. The war ended when I graduated high school. I did a U turn and became a Southeast Alaska logger for 25 years. I was so happy.
