Great song, Such class personified by musicians & vocalists don't think they even come close. Very glad to have opportunity to see & hear it at the same time. Thanks for placing it here
Johnny Mercer was a God kiss to the likes of us. Songs written for you and I. This song was the closing song for Stan's Drive-Inn in Fresno when I was a teenage dragging the main. I send this song when there is a passing of a friend or classmate to the family. It always bring a tear to my eyes.
Johnny originally wrote "Dream" as the closing song for the NBC early evening radio show "Johnny Mercer's Music Shop" , a daily M-F 15 minute radio show that aired live during the summer months into early fall of 1944. Johnny was encouraged by musical director, Paul Weston to write lyrics to Mercer's original tune . The lyrics were written with the program's sponsor, Chesterfield Cigarettes in mind!
Back when music was really music. I play big band music around my house especially when my grand kids are here. I want them to hear GOOD music. They seem to enjoy it (age 18 months to 15 years)
If we end up blowing up this crazy world one of these days, the thing that I feel most depressed about is that somehow, all these beautiful songs like "Dream" and recordings of this from these immensely talented folks long gone now will be lost. The beauty, the complexity, the gift of that harmony is exquisite... let's hope, by some miracle, 2119's version of "RUclips," whatever that might be, will STILL be playing this.
I was stationed at Travis AFB, CA and almost every night I would listen to The Lucky Lager Dance Time and the announcer always played this at the close. I didn't know about happy smoke, drive-by shootings and you could walk down Market St without fear. Those kind of times have gone forever. When Jo Stafford was with the P/P they recorded it and I think that was it. No one called me DUDE. hambone
Absolutely, whether walking along the beach @ Paradise Cove or dancing the most beautiful girl in the world, these soft lyrics weave a magical spell of peace and tranquility in our souls…
I remember this group from my childhood. As I age I still dream a lot, all good dreams. Life was much simpler then, maybe not better, but simpler, understandable.
The older I grow, with everyone dead in the family, the more sweet relevance I attach to this magical song by the Pied Pipers…I wonder if any of the original group are still alive…how wonderfully soothing are their voices, and instantly can carry us back to a less threatening time in our lives…
Wow. In my life currently, I really need this...so soothing. I think there's a reason why, even if this style isn't the popular music right now, you sometimes can fall back on it when what there is now truly is too blaring and loud. The 2k10's and 2-20's just seem to have taken up things that produce some good songs...others, just painful and actually damaging noise. No satisfying patterns or flow either. Even the calm lofi still can be risky when it utilizes scratchy synthetic instruments; and that's coming from someone who likes synth pop and eurobeat, etc! But during moments where I need REAL peaceful songs, hearing this classical stuff is like falling softly on a pillowy cloud, deflating from everything, maybe even letting a tear out or two, but truly relaxing. I'd recommend that everyone listen to this...dream, dream, dream. ,,UvU,,
I can’t explain it, but the lyric beauty of their soft voices and musicians, echoes feelings of summer dances with Jeannie Cox in my arms gliding across the floor….

But the beauty and magic of these lyrics, at least for a breath or two, allows us to glide across the dance floor with that special sweetheart in your arms, and become one in the moment….
Great song, Such class personified by musicians & vocalists
don't think they even come close. Very glad to have opportunity to see & hear it at the same time. Thanks for placing it here
Beautiful Voices and Melody ❤!
This song is gorgeous.
This is so beautiful...
Back when music was really music. I play big band music around my house especially when my grand kids are here. I want them to hear GOOD music. They seem to enjoy it (age 18 months to 15 years)
That's great to hear. My dad exposed me and my brothers to this music, and I'm grateful him for it.
That's awesome! Good for you!!
This is so beautiful.
No one called me DUDE. hambone
I'm dreaming as the smoke rings rise in the air. Whos with me?
Absolutely, whether walking along the beach @ Paradise Cove or dancing the most beautiful girl in the world, these soft lyrics weave a magical spell of peace and tranquility in our souls…
I remember this group from my childhood. As I age I still dream a lot, all good dreams. Life was much simpler then, maybe not better, but simpler, understandable.
Brings to mind the poetic phrase, “ a thing of beauty is a joy forever.”
Beautiful, speechless and honored to hear this song👨💼
Just priceless. It's amazing how well they harmonize. Absolutely beautiful! It relaxes me so much.
This music is timeless!
The older I grow, with everyone dead in the family, the more sweet relevance I attach to this magical song by the Pied Pipers…I wonder if any of the original group are still alive…how wonderfully soothing are their voices, and instantly can carry us back to a less threatening time in our lives…
I think the only surviving member of the Big Band era as of 2024 is Ray Anthony from Glenn Miller Orchestra.....102 years old!
God ! Was I lucky to have been a part of this era.
They nailed the Harmony on this ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I'd recommend that everyone listen to this...dream, dream, dream. ,,UvU,,
There are more hearts stopped, when this song is played, than you might suspect…
To a heart so kind, this song enchants and leaves me in a bliss of a better yesterday.
I can’t explain it, but the lyric beauty of their soft voices and musicians, echoes feelings of summer dances with Jeannie Cox in my arms gliding across the floor….
This is so special to see as well as hear. Thank you. A rare souvenir. Reminds me of a gentler time.

ive been looking for a live performance of this song to learn from. most tabs are incorrect or allmost close to the mark. but this has the original guitar cords being played, to a 30yr guitar player this is gold.
Hermosa melodía y grandes voces.❤
