I know I'm late to comment, but I will anyway. I also have fine hair. You can make the twists look fuller by making them loose. If you twist them tightly, you get more length but less volume. Twisting them loosely allows your hair to "puff up" within the twists. It also takes much less time to install. You are very cute and look beautiful either way!
A lot of girls that do mini twist usually have thickness to their hair. So I agree with you, but you're pretty - you can wear any style and get away with it- some women can't.
@@deborahboms I use very little amount of butter/grease because I also noticed being heavy-handed with products weigh my strands down and doesn't allow it look fluffy.
@@kianajna365 Hi....no I don't. I stretch my hair (with or without heat) so I avoid spraying it as I twist. If I must, I spray lightly on my palms and squeeze a large section before I seperate to twist. Hope this helps
Yesssss I find it looks so much butter on my hair if my hair is stretched. I have fine hair as well and I hate how mini twists looked on my before I started stretching my hair. Also before I started stretching my hair before installing the twist, I would wet my hair every day, for some reason the cause my hair to have a lot of tangled and takedown was soo stressful trying to de tangle my hair. Definitely recommend stretching the hair for my fellow fine hair girlies
The problem you experienced was about thin and fine hair. Our kind of hair appears thick in the natural state, but in actuality it is really fine hair. My hair does the exact same thing, so mini twists are definitely not a go-to style for me because of the shape of my head. They look just like your finished product--which to me, looked fine on you. But as for me, I prefer to stick with chunkier twists so that my hair will appear as thick and full and is much easier when it comes to taking it down. Your end result looked fine because of the shape of your head, I looked like a little brown scarecrow, so I took it down immediately! 😂😂
My hair was the same way when it was ur length, except mine were boneless and limpy. Eventually, when ur hair gets thicker and longer you’ll be able to have those long chunky twists we all love so much! But hair is beautiful no matter the length, thank you for sharing this with us natural girlies❤
Thanks for sharing the journey! It can be frustrating when a hairstyle doesn't turn out as planned, but it's nice to see what your realistic experience was! Really appreciate it. 😊
I think the issue is your hair in the back is longer than the hair In the front so it doesn’t look as full. The shape of your hair definitely helps. I have noticed when I had two different lengths my twists look thin. But if your hair was more similar in length and you do brick parting it would look good.
I honestly think the stretching and refreshing the next day saved the style. That little high puff is super cute. I have medium-density, medium-to-thick strands (depending on the position of my scalp). I have recently tried mini twists and they looked more sparse than I expected! It was a new thing I had discovered about my hair, and now I'm learning to love it. It took me MONTHS to love the look of mini-braids on my hair. If you wear them for a few days in that puff, I think you'll start to like them a bit better.
My hair looks like yours when I did my mini twist the 1st few times. I just did mini twist again a week ago and it came out perfect. I have fine hair myself. The trick to getting my hair to look good I believe is the products I used. I washed my hair the added leave in only. I stretched my hair in fairly big 2 strand twist all over and then the next day I added a moisturizer and my jerry curl spray lol. Not too much product your hair should be barely damp. Sounds like a lot but it works for my fine hair
Your twists look beautiful. My twists are exactly the same. It's a natural look for our hair type and length. I used to leave mine in for at least a week, then I'd undo and wear as twist out which has a lot more volume.
girl I relate, I just installed my mini twists and I had to come search on youtube to see if someone has had a similar experience and girl was I happy when I saw your thumbnail. No I'm subing to you channel 💓
I do mini twist on blown out hair. Wet or damp hair can effect your style. I also use braiding gel to get my twist to hang a lil better. Or weigh them down. Doing this was a game changer for me.
to get your mini twists looking juicy, twist tightly at the roots and then looser once you feel the twists is secure and then when you get to the end twist tightly when you get to the end again to keep them from unraveling
Hi. Fellow thin haired cutie here. Honestly, I loved the results on your hair. It looked just like mine. I don't know if it'll help much, but I generally prefer to braid my twists instead of banding. It stretches the twists but still gives a curly look to them that makes it seem like I have some volume. Plus, it looks super cute.
My hair is about the same length now after having to clip. I do mini twists like you to keep my hair low maintenance and easier to keep moisturized as I love my hair back to health. My twists come out like yours and I love it. Today I’m trying flat twists in the front and then mini twists to the back to switch it up. I just realized I have fine strands as of late which is why a lot of the styles I see on RUclips don’t really work for me. As your hair gets longer the mini twists will probably be more to your liking.
Love this video. Thank you for sharing!! My hair is EXACTLY like yours. I used to wear mini twists, but now ai ear mini braids 1) because I no longer care and 2) they lasts so much longer in my opinion. I keep my braided up in a high bun, and it doesn’t look as bad to me than what I thought it would look. I wear them 6 months out the year in a high bun and the other 6 months (refreshing every 2 months), and I do 7 angled cornrows going into a low bun the other 6 months
The times I convinced myself that I can do my own hair, my twists looked similar to urs, but once I was done with d 1st section I kuku undid the hair I went to the salon 😂😂 the lady there said its cause I made the twists tight n not loose. A month ago I went to another saloon n some girls were there to learn how to do different hairstyle. That day they were asked to do twists n although they were the regular sized twists (not mini) she told them that d secret is to twist in the opposite direction that is to the right. I haven't tried twisting my own hair again to verify if its true but when they did what she said it looked way better than what they had started off doing
Add glycerin to your moisturize routine. 11g of glycerin n 68g of water. The glycerin gives the her fuller density. Some just use Shea butter it up to you. Over time your hair will get fuller. Meaning wearing your braids for 2-3 months with out taking them down
I’m cracking up!!! 😂 That’s my hair too! I do NOT have juicy twists. I have fine strands, medium density, super soft, cottony, frizzy flyaway curls (roughly 3b/3c/4a). So, I do medium twists and wear them in cute pigtails or a ponytail. I do that for a week, then twist out for 2-3 days and finish off my 2 weeks with a high puff. Thank you for this video. We do not all have juicy twists. Not even close! 🤣🤣🤣🫶🏽
I loved it sis! I started doing mini twists with my natural hair maybe a year ago or so and since I have a bit of hang time now I’ll blow out or even straighten my hair and when it’s worn out I’ll just go right into the mini twists and I love the length so I completely understand why you was like idk which way to go lol. I usually only use a good moisturizer that doesn’t revert my hair cause ik over time my hair is going to shrink little by little one way or another. With that being said I think we may have a similar hair type although yours is thicker than mine I’ve always noticed that I have alot of hair but when I do styles like this it shows that my hair is thin at the same time.. it’s weird and confusing but in the end I just learned to love it because the style really does help me give my hair a break or put it up when I’m like 😭 girl I need a break from you lol. But none the less your gorgeous and I love your dimples ☺️😍
We have the same texture/type of hair……. Girl you had me cracking up the whole video 😅😂 I can definitely relate to you. I don’t know maybe those other girls got the magic touch or something 😅😂. Cause when I twist my hair it don’t be looking like when those other girls do it. You are beautiful. 🌸 let us know how the twist looked when you took them down.
I am hollering at the beginning 😂. My hair is fine as well, so two strand mini twists don’t really work out well for me. But, I LOVED how you did your hair at the end with the bun. It is cute on you. You’re gorgeous anyway, so no matter how you style your hair, you will still be pretty.
You should use leave in conditioner on each cut you make before twisting and don’t make the twists tight. This should help make the twist bounce and full
I’m thinking maybe u can twist the front towards the front to make a bang. Not sure if it’s long enough for that but after you took the bands off, it seems like it might work. I will try this too.
I do mine but I never add curling cream. All I do is add leave in conditioner on every strand. Then I twist loosely so it can become fluffy and bouncier. From what I can see, our textures are almost the same. Do it again and maybe do a three strand twist at the beginning, like 3-5 times and then twist to the end
@@deborahboms no, I mean you should begin braiding the hair with 3 strand twists and then complete it with two strands. The same way you’d do it if you’re adding extensions. It should work
U should try again with fully stretched hair and do the Senegalese twist/rope twist w braided roots. And braid it w mouse after in three sections on each side and take out once fully set first two days it’s gonna be small but the longer u wear it the better it gets or u can try w ur hair wet and use leave in and grease sit under hooded dryer and stretch the hair after it’s set w a blow dryer mid shaft. Also ur hair didn’t look bad it’s just at an awkward length rn but the more u grow it out it starts to fall better a lot of the 4c girls are twisting at much longer lengths.
my hair is fine too and I use mini twists (got some in my head right now). I'm ok that mine will never look like most videos on the internet. I will say I liked how mine came out when I blow dried my hair first and didn't use a lot of product once dry. But the shrinkage is real and that only lasted a couple days so kind of a moot point.
*Its just your hair.* *Your hair strands are very fine.* The look you really want isnt that achievable UNLESS you add hair. Thats honestly your best option for the look you want. I know what you were going for. (I have really fine strands also. I can 100 percent relate.) Btw, you said thin... your hair is not thin. Your hair strands are fine.
I have fine hair too and I did mini twist but first I blew my hair out so it was stretched and used no products except oil they came out looking full! Try prestretching your hair first
Your twists are very pretty. My hair is mid back length, but when i wear twists, it shrinks up to my neck. I don't care tho because i don't have to worry about my hair for 3 weeks..
Finally i found a video i can relate to. I go through this every time i try to twist my hair... I think its the curling cream that we should not use wen twisting
i think it’s because you have fine hair , i usually do my twist on blown out hair and use a butter or crème. i think you should try that next time 🤍 beautiful either way though!!
Debbie I've been looking for the kinda video, cause this is totally my hair, I even started thinking natural hair thing wasn't for me, they all made it look so easy. I don't think even when you stretched it like they suggest it will still be all bouncy and juicy😂
you have to do them smaller with fine hair. and wherever yu know ur hair is thinner do double twist on that roll.. so if it suppose to be 4 do 8.. this will mostly work in the back and sides .. i literally just did my 1st twist 2days ago .. also do it in 6 parts and start off with a braid
Instead of using curling cream, use an oil based moisturiser next time. It won't give your hair that bounce you're looking for but it will stretch out your hair more. Then you you can retwist your parts after a few days to stretch it out even more. People always ask me if I used a flat iron or hairdryer to straightenen my hair and they're always shocked when I tell them, it's the twists. Continuously twisting your hair every few days is what gets it to stretch out naturally. Once you feel like it's stretched enough, THEN you can use a curling cream to give it that bounce and shine. But if you have long hair, stretching your hair might not be that important to you coz it looks long either way.
I also blow dry my hai before twisting. My hair is somewhat damp when I twist because of the products I apply to the twist. I do not apply to the whole head first. I use scrunchies to keep them stretched while twisting. It’s not bad looking. I just think it you blow dry it first your will have better results
It was the same when i did mine for the first time. I have ro stretch my hair first and then do my twists. It grew so fast when i did them that way. I found out stretched hair grows more. You can stretch with or without heat.
So, we are hair twins. I only wear mini twists, but they don't look good when the hair is shorter. You have to wait for them to grow and only twist on dry, stretched hair.
I make my friends natural hair especially mini twists and it bounces, basically all I do is not making the twist too tight. I mean not twisting tight, make a loose twist.
You dont have low density hair. Its definitely fine though. I think getting your hair cut into a shape would help a lot with the wnd result, but you could lose a lot of length in the back
I recommend watching tutorials on RUclips on how to get juicy twists. 1 of your problems might be using heavy products that weighed your hair down. And changing your twisting method to give the twist a spiral look from top to bottom. Give it a second try ♥️
so i used to have this issue! then i just started adding hair like ‘afro texture’ hair or i buy short maybe 12” twists and take them apart and add them! i get the volume im looking for and i don’t add a lot of hair !
It’s interesting because I have fine strands of hair but because I have a lot of hair on my head (medium density) my mini twist actually appear pretty full! And I did not know this about my hair until I did mini twist for the first time yesterday 🤣 I was surprised by the fullness I had since I have fine hair strands. If you ask me, you looked cute with your hair and I think playing around with different styles would help you see the vision a bit more 😁😁
Tbh i dont see anything wrong with your twist, your hair is just short and have layers.because when my hair was shorter my mini twist used to look just like yours, but now they are longer they look fuller, and another thing that make any style i do look good i have a top heavy shape to my hair.
You making me laugh😂. I understand totally what you mean. I can relate...it don't look bad tho. The problem if you start to see how other girls have it then you start to doubt. I does add hair meaning kinky twist to make my hair look fuller and last longer. My hair is also thick but when I twist it it seems fine and delicate. I have it now in twist with my natural hair. I am.thinking to buy kinky twist so it can last long.
Don't use moisturizers that have water in them.....this also depends on your hair type, and for some, it really does work. I have the same hair type as yours and I realized that when I do my twists without water, they're full....
Yeah i feel like it's your fine strands because my hair doesn't turn out too juicy(as I don't have alot of hair) but it still turned out more juicy because i have fine, medium, thick strands of hair and low to medium density hair. I also feel like maybe the products have something to do with it aswell but I'm not really sure on that one.
We’re in the same boat sis! I hated the way they looked the first time i did it. I made my twist too big. But one thing i did was put product and water on each twist not just on your whole head. I think that why they came out that way. But everything is trail and error
I stretched my hair first. I oil my scalp with hair grease. I spray a small amount of leave in conditioner on my dry stretched hair. I used only a tiny amount of gel and oil on my tips. I don't stretch after, because it's already stretched. You messed up when you stretched after it was already done.
I had the same issue when I did mine, my hair is dense but my hair strands are suuuper fine. I think this is a fine hair issue, I only had leave in and twisting gel in it and my results were actually the same. That being said I know twists are supposed to make your hair grow so I'm thinking this could be an under-wig style for me since I cant cornrow 😅
it looks cuute on you & it looked even better after you removed the rubber bands. However, I understand your experience because I just did twists, and I think they're flat ( and I have really thick hair), which is how I landed on your video because I've been scouring the internet for help. However, my friends think it looks soo cuute on me.... It really does look cute on you though. I wonder if you kept it in for a couple more days if it would fluff up at the roots and give more volume.
Hey! It looks like you robe twist the hair. Sometimes with twist it’s try and error 😊 Also you could try and twist a bit more loosely on stretched hair. It definitely helps with volume
I think it because you hair is damp. Im going to try mini twist tomorrow but i wash an moisturize my hair yesterday. So its not so shrinked its a little stretched so ill see if it makes mine turn out good
I spray my hair with water till it’s wet, then use 1/4 of a pea sized amount of this got2be glued stuff on each strand if that, less is more. My hair dries soft, the style lasts, and it is the Only thing that stops my hair from matting on itself. Can you do a video on how to do straight parts in the back of your head?
Try stretching with wider bands not the rubber bands 😅 But alsoooo mini twists can just shrink and be making you wonder what happened 😭😂 And next time you could try it on stretched hair Natural hair is a lot of trial and error😭😭😂😂
Frankly, I think you’re giving yourself a needlessly hard time. There’s literally nothing wrong with your lovely head of hair. It’s just how finer strands look in mini-twists. If you’re wanting a fuller look, try circular free-parting. I promise you will love that ❤
You left out the most important.. the strand size. Fine hair strands aren't gonna look anything like the medium n thick strands. (She has fine strands, very fine .)
When I do mini twists my hair looks like that as well. I wonder what is the best natural hair style to do on medium dense hair so that it can last for a while.
💫✨ My 1st time ever seeing your videos and I’m by no means, anybody’s professional hair 💆🏽♀️ consultant - - - but I wouldn’t be at all surprised if your hair is in a growing phase : longer, thus thinner looking !?! 👀 : That’s the consensus about my hair, at least. My hair changes with my body as the years pass by.

I know what you were going for. (I have really fine strands also. I can 100 percent relate.) Btw, you said thin... your hair is not thin. Your hair strands are fine.
Mine is fine, very thin and low density! There’s no way in hell i can twist just my hair alone, and it sucks honestly
@@pamelagold7747 It does suck!
I have fine hair too and I did mini twist but first I blew my hair out so it was stretched and used no products except oil they came out looking full! Try prestretching your hair first
Your twists are very pretty. My hair is mid back length, but when i wear twists, it shrinks up to my neck. I don't care tho because i don't have to worry about my hair for 3 weeks..
thank you
Finally i found a video i can relate to. I go through this every time i try to twist my hair... I think its the curling cream that we should not use wen twisting
i think it’s because you have fine hair , i usually do my twist on blown out hair and use a butter or crème. i think you should try that next time 🤍 beautiful either way though!!
yes actually.. thank you so much
Debbie I've been looking for the kinda video, cause this is totally my hair, I even started thinking natural hair thing wasn't for me, they all made it look so easy. I don't think even when you stretched it like they suggest it will still be all bouncy and juicy😂
😂😂😂 if I stretch it and leave my hair for those 6 hours it’ll revert 🤣
So stretching won’t even work for me
you have to do them smaller with fine hair. and wherever yu know ur hair is thinner do double twist on that roll.. so if it suppose to be 4 do 8.. this will mostly work in the back and sides .. i literally just did my 1st twist 2days ago ..
also do it in 6 parts and start off with a braid
Twisting to the right looks bouncier . To the left is more straight, but once you pour water on your hair it kinda blends
But if you have long hair, stretching your hair might not be that important to you coz it looks long either way.
you are supposed to 3 strand braid it before u twist.
It’s just her density. I did my twists starting off with twists and it’s full. But only because I have thick + high density hair : )
This is my hair type. My hair is dense but with thin strands. I do all that work and the mini twists just laughs at me😂😂😂
I also blow dry my hai before twisting. My hair is somewhat damp when I twist because of the products I apply to the twist. I do not apply to the whole head first. I use scrunchies to keep them stretched while twisting. It’s not bad looking. I just think it you blow dry it first your will have better results
you could do mini twists and use a roller set on them to create curly twists. That would be cute. I think it will frame your face nicely.
I think it turned out super cute❤️
Try on stretched hair. For finer hair. Do tinier sections. Then a little spray on them. The small shrinkage will make it look fuller
But mainly smaller. The twists advertised mainly are people with higher density.
You have the face for it lol 😆 I look a hot mess with my thin “mini” twists
A loose twist and cut into tiny sections 😢. Mine took 2days.
I used a black thread to stretch it using the flogging method
Flogging method? 😩😩😩 what is that?
2 days? Wow 😂
Did your hair break while taking it down?
@@deborahbomsAfrican threading. That's the new name
I make my friends natural hair especially mini twists and it bounces, basically all I do is not making the twist too tight. I mean not twisting tight, make a loose twist.
Okay thank you
I will try this
There's a technique to doing twists that'll comd out plump and don't twist too tightly so your hair can swell.
Hi Deborah, it's a fine hair thing o...I do mini twists with my fine hair and I just pack it as a ponytail and it's a wrap.
whew 😥 the struggle for us with fine hair
You dont have low density hair. Its definitely fine though. I think getting your hair cut into a shape would help a lot with the wnd result, but you could lose a lot of length in the back
You make them look amazing thooo 😍
I recommend watching tutorials on RUclips on how to get juicy twists. 1 of your problems might be using heavy products that weighed your hair down. And changing your twisting method to give the twist a spiral look from top to bottom. Give it a second try ♥️
My hair be like that too but you have to do a lot but don’t make them too small and don’t try to stretch it and use perm rods at the end
I do my twist on freshly washed hair every time! ❤
I have fine hair too. Your stretched twist were Beautiful. 💃🏿
I can relate my dear but it doesn't stop me o still do it anyway
😂😂😂
so i used to have this issue! then i just started adding hair like ‘afro texture’ hair or i buy short maybe 12” twists and take them apart and add them! i get the volume im looking for and i don’t add a lot of hair !
Finally someone i can relate to
It also looks cute all up
That was my final resort to be honest 🤣😂
🤣🤣🤣 sis, i've faced the same issue i abandoned it 😂😂 i think we didn't need to use the cream
Try using eco styler and blue magic hair oil
Also smaller sections
Hmm 🤔
Perhaps. I might give it another shot
I can relate 😂😂😂😂it's how Africans love putting iiinng to everything..the twist is not twisting 😂
😂😂😂
As a fine hair girly I have to make my twist a little loose for it to look decent. A tight mini twist will have me looking scary 😂.
I think the problem is moisture overload since you have high-porosity hair.
This is literally my hair. 😂😂
I did this the other day and it was the same result.
I’m sticking to extensions for now
You need water. You should spray each section and put product on each section before twisting. And by section I mean each mini twist.
As it grows the twists will look thicker
it looks cuute on you & it looked even better after you removed the rubber bands.
🤣🤣🤣🤣 I'm here laughing at "throw the whole twist away" because I too have the same hair type that does not get the mini twist memo
😂😂😂 girlll what is this intro I love it too muchhhhh
🤣🤣🤣
Hey! It looks like you robe twist the hair. Sometimes with twist it’s try and error 😊
Also you could try and twist a bit more loosely on stretched hair. It definitely helps with volume
Boms. I laughed so hard😂😂. I can totally relate. Mine never looks like what I see online😢😂
I experienced the same as you. I have thin hair also.
Try stretching with wider bands not the rubber bands 😅
But alsoooo mini twists can just shrink and be making you wonder what happened 😭😂
And next time you could try it on stretched hair
Natural hair is a lot of trial and error😭😭😂😂
😭😭😭 I used wider bands for the back.. yet nothing
If I do it on stretched hair and I add curling gel or cream it will still shrink back.. no?
Yeah but probably not as much
@@deborahboms thin fine 4c hair is a struggle😭
But you’ll find what works best for you in the long run🤗
Frankly, I think you’re giving yourself a needlessly hard time. There’s literally nothing wrong with your lovely head of hair. It’s just how finer strands look in mini-twists. If you’re wanting a fuller look, try circular free-parting. I promise you will love that ❤
Sweetheart, it all depends on hair density, length and we'll nourish hair and then you need to twist it a bit loosely.
You hair looks good though
thank you
You left out the most important.. the strand size. Fine hair strands aren't gonna look anything like the medium n thick strands. (She has fine strands, very fine .)
When I do mini twists my hair looks like that as well. I wonder what is the best natural hair style to do on medium dense hair so that it can last for a while.
Start with braiding the hair first then twist it
💫✨ My 1st time ever seeing your videos and I’m by no means, anybody’s professional hair 💆🏽♀️ consultant - - - but I wouldn’t be at all surprised if your hair is in a growing phase : longer, thus thinner looking !?! 👀 : That’s the consensus about my hair, at least. My hair changes with my body as the years pass by. I don’t use heat and yet the front is like “1a” (no ponies either; I twist 90% all over & I don’t even do half up, half down) ; continuing with you, though . . . Your hair is absolutely thick and beautiful and it looks so healthy! I had to do a replay on how it curled up when you released the twist!!) 👏😅 Your hair is just doing its unique thing. Keep up the great work on the videos and your hair care - you’ll never regret the effort as you learn! Keep laughing as you travel 🧭 on. 💫✨
Always use water first though, Gorgeous ! Then product.
