My hardcore player tip Place all the batteries and UCC into boxes and place on middle shelf. Now open the box, this will wedge the box into place. Boxes being open and wedged on shelf won’t move and batteries/UCC are safe inside and won’t bang around. Gas doesn’t have a health bar. It can float around.. Now power off the gravity generator. Not important. Only use it if hauling trade goods. We now have a spare UCC and a half battery from the gravity generator. Plus everything important just floating won’t be damaged when swapping. But it’s one less system we need to keep powered.. Power management is insane on Hardcore. So turn off the lights. Headlights and inside. Don’t use Airbreak!!! Throwing precious O2 out into space! You’re venting your cabin O2 when you do this.. on Hardcore 2-3 good puffs will kill your cabin O2. Use the map to check temperature of a system but the first area is fine, so you can power off climate control. One of the first upgrades you want to buy for the engine is Engine Temperature Control. (Atlas Prime Pistons ). You’re going to be using DA off and ON and powering off the rear engines because the engine temperature gauge on the overhead panel spikes fast. Sell everything that’s not Battery’s or UCC or Gas at the store next to the truck upgrade store. One with pistons at the very start of game. Pull to jump gate, DA OFF before you pull the jump lever. When jumping as you come out of the gate doing 60. If the Assistance is on the truck will slow down. And you have to speed up heating up the thrusters more than we need too DA off and on non stop to save fuel. You can also cut rear thrusters to lower heat and save fuel. Doing this is a must on Hardcore till we upgrade more.
Oh man I can't imagine playing on hardcore, I'm in like 14k debt right now even on normal LOL. I'm definitely going to try the wedging the box open into the shelf. These are really great tips, thank you so much! I'm going to try them all :) IDK if I'm up for hardcare, but maybe once I get bored from running on recommended :)
After getting soft locked due to a bug in my Recommended game I switched to HCM. My only disagreement here is turning off rear thrust. The rear thrust are the 8 blue engines on the back of the truck, they do not contribute to either thruster heat or power use, so there really is never any reason i've seen yet on HCM to turn them off. Also, it's just a bug atm, but you should only have 1 full battery and 1 dead battery in the Core and Mag slots.
Thanks for the feedback! Could you elaborate on the Core and Mag slot bug? I've accidentally let one of them go to 0% with no issue so I've been doing it but I'd love to learn more :)
@@PodsofWar Well if you remove one of the Core or Mag batteries then the drainage on the other doubles, but if you just leave an empty one in, then it still drains at the same rate. It's definitely a bug that'll get fixed soon, but honestly IMO, hardcore mode is even more almost impossible without this bug to help alleviate battery needs.
Step 1) Hook up to storefront for external power. Step 2) Turn off gravity circuit breaker. Step 3) Spend 15 minutes getting used to zipping around from point to point inside your truck without gravity, and practice moving a hardcase with you. Step 4) Do enough short 2 hop trailers to fill a hardcase with small batteries and another with control boards. Step 5) Play game.
Not a bad strat for the beginning of the game, its the air filters that are killing me. Someone else commented that they leave gravity off, and then put the hard case on the middle shelf. After placing it, they open it up. Then it gets wedged in there and doesn't move around. Wild!
Nice video. Thinking about restarting after I got myself into an air filter death loop. Plus when I died the first time it charged me for recovery and $2400 to do a full repair, but it didn't actually repair anything at all, so if I want to repair I'll have to spend another $2400!
Hahaha, that part where I said not to go into the debris at the beginning... yeah its cause I died there from oxygen LOL. So much death in this game until I started over and made this video. Glad you liked it!
Tip: Since you can only view the top forward camera from the left monitor, put the docking level on the right side and back up with the docking camera on the right monitor. this will make it easier to dock during solar flares.
I don’t even have anything to comment this section pretty much covers all I know at the moment. The only thing I have questions about it if cruse control saves more gas and when should I be swapping batteries out I’ve been doing it at around 20% and put my almost dead battery’s in a red case ( I sell when it’s full ) and all my charged stuff in a green one
What! I've never seen a red case! 😭 That's really cool, love the color coding. From what I've seen on the discussion boards - cruise control will eat up your fuel really quickly. So no, it doesn't save gas :/ For batteries, I run them all down to 0% before selling. I like to put them in the suit charger slot to get them to 0%.
@PodsofWar possibly late, but the second slot of the core and maglock systems are a good place for a swapped battery. However, batteries with a little charge sell for exponentially more than completely used.
Maybe it's my 2000 plus hours on Elite Dangerous, and being very knowledgeable at handling "Space drift" but in the 7 hours I currently have on this, I only hit something once. I'm also very rarely late, only times is when the weight checker Fs me over
So...a 1 day game (not whole day may I mention), and somehow, someone came up with some newbie advices...I'll take it thank you very much🙂...Biggest dowside for now...no keybinding...I mean c'mon devs...on PC and no keybinding options...getoutahere!!!!
i was lucky and got the game a little bit early, so was able to come up with these tips! I'm happy you're finding them helpful, let me tell you jumping in the game cold is pretty difficult!! I wish i had the game audio cause some of my situations were very silly haha.
Agree, keybindings are also very important for accessibility. I was surprised to learn the game doesn't support HOTAS yet. I thought for sure they would, but I guess they ran out of time.
You can't unfortunately :( Like, you can't select 2 jobs from the job board and then hitch the trailers together. In the skill tree, you are able to get jobs with multiple trailers. Meaning that when you pick up that cargo, there will already be two or three trailers connected to each other.
Tried playing this last night, honestly the view from the cab absolutely sucks. You can never tell if you are going to hit something. Navigation around the world absolutely sucks, its hard to know where you need to go. It's also got the same 3-4 songs on loop all the time as far as I can tell.
Yeah I mainly stay in the outside space view, it can get really tricky too later in the game when you have to shutter the windows, but at least there are cameras! Interesting on the navigation bit, are you marking the map to provide you with way points? Also I think you get more songs as you go to new areas. Not actually sure on the songs but you definitely get new commercials when more sectors open up!
Honestly, setting the FOV down to 70-75( I usually like my FOV in games around 90) allows you to see debris, pair that with the left monitor set to showing the top camera and the right monitor showing the bottom camera grants you much better visibility… no need to stare at the battery percentages 24/7
You can use any of the 3 express lanes. Also at the bottom of the map in the starter region the space lane is 1-way, so you'll need to travel the loop to get to some destinations. I went with a more conservative path for skills. If you go the fragile route you aren't worried so much about the time just avoiding obstacles. At the beginning of the game I didn't want to concern myself with making a delivery in a narrow delivery window. I also spend very little time outside of my cab so the 30% boost to EVA usage is lost on me. Do what makes sense for your playstyle.
Thanks for the tips! Yeah rescuing salvage is one of my favorite things to do - primarily bc I'm in debt though lol Yes I'm very reckless in my builds while Rose is more safe/conservative. I'll probably do a playthrough where I take fragile earlier but.... i run into things a lot hahaha.
Just curious, what difficulty is everyone playing at,? I started my first playthrough on "mechanic" difficulty and after 5 hours in and 2000 power cells, 1000 UCC's, 100 air filters and 13,000 in debt. I gave up, I got a 10,000 credit fine for going to a system with a checkpoint and got "caught" with explosives. After spending my whole time so far paying off my debt one load at a time. I dont mind the grind but dude.....make more of an effort to let us know that shit I illegal. I was so distracted and focused on keeping my ship powered up that I didn't even think the things I SALVAGED would ruin all my hours. I started a new game with custom settings but man I really liked this game. I work long hours so I don't have the time to make mistakes and mess around. I dont recommend playing on "mechanic" difficulty.........at all
if it makes you feel better I'm on the recommended setting and sitting at $14k in debt and all I did was stock up on ship supplies. That's after I've already started over >.< this game is tough.
@@PodsofWar well make sure if you salvage mining charges and get caught they will fine you 10k lmao. I still love the game and I'm getting back on my feet but bro this is a hard game for sure.
@@kalonedev3972 Thanks for the tip! Yeah I haven't been caught w/ any illegal items, but my partner just told me that he caught $5k in fines for explosives. Maybe the fine is less in recommended than mechanic? Good luck digging yourself out of debt!
@@PodsofWar lol yeah that "mechanic" difficulty lives up to its name. You literally have to inspect and service every part of the truck every few miles lol I restarted a new game on recommended difficulty 🤣🤣🤣
sorry to say i like your effort but a game about a startruck where you dont have simple straps to hold down the stuff in your cab is just silly. Evryone would carry some 10$ cargo straps, a rope or a net to hold down the stuff in your cab. or have it in some closable boxes that are fixed or locked in place. its just silly to fly in space and not have your stuff secured.
There's a lot of silly things in this game haha, but I feel you. A trick for this is to put your cargo on the shelves, and then open it. This wedges it inside and it doesn't move around. Then I turn off the gravity. I know this doesn't really make the game make more sense but it is a work around!
