To enter Thailand by car, you will need to ensure you have the necessary documentation in order to comply with Thai immigration and customs regulations. Here's a list of essential documents you should prepare:
    1. A valid passport with at least six months validity remaining
    2. A valid visa for Thailand (if required)
    3. A valid driver's licence recognized in Thailand (ASEAN or International Driving Permit)
    4. TM2 Information of Conveyance form.
    5. TM3 Passenger List form - 2 copies. (Only if you’re riding/driving with passengers).
    6. TM6 Card (Arrival/Departure white card).
    7. If the vehicle is not registered under your name, you will need to get an authorised letter from the vehicle owner & copy of the owner’s N.R.I.C./ Passport. Please note that Thai borders in Sungai Golok & Bukit Bunga require the authorised letter to be stamped by a Commissioner of Oath.
    8. If your vehicle is registered under a Malaysian company name, you will need to provide Form 24 (SSM company registration details) Form 49 or Section 58 and an authorised letter from the company.
    9. Simplified customs temporary Import/Export form (will be given by Thai customs). If this is your first time driving your vehicle in Thailand via the Sadao border, you can now pre-register your vehicle online
    10. Vehicle Registration Card(Grant / VOC). (Photocopy is acceptable but you will need to get the document verified at a police station near the border. Once verified, the officer will give you a slip.
    11. A valid vehicle registration and insurance (more information on the topic below)
To avoid wasting time, you can download the TM2 and TM3 forms mentioned earlier and complete them before arriving at the border. Or you can get a service provider to complete them for you including Thai insurance for a small fee (contact +60 12-428 1622)
It's important to note that the requirements may vary depending on the type of vehicle you are driving and the purpose of your visit. Be sure to check the specific requirements for your vehicle and travel plans before you depart.

¹ What if the car owner is one of the oassengers instead of driver, and we understood that the passengers required to get down from the car for passport stamping, so by that time the car owner (passenger) is not in the car edy, do we still need the authorization letter?
² Saw an article said that the waiver of TM6 has extended till Oct'24, is it true?

Hi, if the car is registered under your name it’s straightforward. You need to apply Thai insurance and bring along car registration

@@the.penangite So if the car is not under your name, you would need that letter of authorisation by the owner with their NRIC?
