Even after he corrected her, she repeated that he was "poked in the stomach." This despite the fact that the perp admitted he "did a pectoral jab with [his] flashlight." A pectoral jab shouldn't be anywhere near the stomach, because that's not where the pecs are. She repeated this misstatement so often that she had the victim saying it, too. That's at a minimum poor policework, and it's easy for a cynic to impute bad motives from it.

I feel like there’s a loophole here that doesn’t get enough discussion:
When anyone in law enforcement is beyond the retirement threshold, they feel invincible. This altercation did NOT cost Cecchini his job - he was put on administrative review and then VOLUNTARILY retired in order to keep his pension, which they don’t take if he isn’t dismissed. Then he took a sweetheart deal with prosecutors he has probably known for decades, lost a law enforcement license he wasn’t going to use anyway, and in this particular case (see ABC 12 article on this) the lawsuit was paid out by $75k by taxpayer funded Michigan Municipal Risk Management Authority (state’s insurance, even though he was off duty) and $15k by Cecchini’s personal State Farm policy.
Chief Cecchini did not even get a slap on the wrist for this. It’s disgusting.

I was really surprised by how easy the job is and how thin skinned , petulant , the officers were. Grown men complaining about noone respecting them, how they didn't get paid enough, blah, blah, blah. The worst was guys that either went from HS or military to the job. Some real idiots, with no desire to learn, and would throw tantrums if they were wrong. Most drank themselves to sleep. Being a Dispatcher is by far a more taxing job.

Thank you or your service but yikes that has to be a nightmare to be around. I swear it's always the retired the cops with all the bangers. I live next door to one.

Yep, cop culture is total shit. I'd know I've dated plenty of them. They get off on violating rights. They are either there for the adrenaline rush or are power hungry as a rule. No, my ex used the whole department to stalk me when I broke up with him. He illegally ran every friend I had on Facebook and would show up even when I left my car and phone elsewhere. He'd call home checks if I didn't text him back fast enough. He spent most of his time talking to other officers about how they can cover up their crimes and traded pics of the violence the cops engaged in like it was hilarious when they nearly killed a elderly woman with dementia. 😑
