"Have a drink; have a drive; go out and see what you can find." always gets me arrested.
+Thomas Bergere your comment made my day
exactly what I thought! lol
+Thomas Bergere oh boy! The 70s...
hahahahah! funny guy! :).
+Thomas Bergere hahaha!!! :'D
Wolverine was sooo different in the 70's.
"WOLVERINE!!!"...
😂
Hulk knocked his ass out in the 1970's lmao.
@@Noname-ut1ye Remember when the 6 million dollar man fought Bigfoot? This guy was Bigfoots stunt double.
Lmao
One cool thing about Ray Dorset is he's an amazing performer who also looks like he's 80% through his werewolf transformation.
Those mutton chops sell it for sure
😂
Warren Zevon wrote a song about the time Ray Dorset went on vacation overseas:
ruclips.net/video/qae25976UgA/видео.html
They all look like werewolves lol
I like how the jug doesn't really add anything, but the dude still tries to sell it.
add everything 👌🏼
wHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! without the jug there is no song!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It did add to it back in those days! What I hate is they didn't put the washboard and tambourine in the video because producers didn't want it to look too hick and country! That would have added to the video too! Or at least it would have in those days! 😂 🙄👆
That jug made the song. I can still hear the low blowing tone in my mind. Jug it man, jug it!
@@GillAgainsIsland12 If you ever hung out with banjo, harmonica, Mandolin and guitar playing moonshiners you realize the vital importance of the jug. I even saw a moonshiner play 3 different jugs and a set of spoons! Not one single bad or sad song in the whole line up! As a kid they let me play a Kazoo and what's called a spring mouth harp! They said I was a natural! 😁 That was awful nice of em! Cause I got no musical skills AT ALL! 🤔👆
- I play in a band
- What instrument do you play?
- I blow the jug
- What?
- What?
😂😂
😂😂😂
This is a much more common answer in the South than you would think.

@Fino Menezes thank you for informing the ignorant
"Have a drink, have a drive,

Ha
It's have a drink, not get drunk... Furthermore it doesn't say "Have a drink and then have a drive"
You. You made me laugh
Ahhhh the 70's.
Very good, Michele!
This is a fucking brilliant song from a different time and different place
Yup, a different time and place where wokism hadnt ruined drinking & driving. Damn those liberals.
I'm glad these guys had themselves filmed. Who would have thought back then we'd have something like RUclips where we could discover gems like this. My compliments to Mungo Jerry, his band, and those that helped him record this.
Lol! All the comments here are from at LEAST 4 years ago, the vid was uploaded over 10 years ago, and the song is from 1970. I thought I was the only one in the world watching/listening to this in Dec. 2023. And yet, you posted this comment just a few hours ago! Kudos, cheers, and happy holidays!

Have A drink, not get shit faced, SHITHEAD !!

Mungo Jerry could have been on The Planet of the Apes without any costume...
Even the boots have fur on them.... He really is going for the 'Cornelius' look.
Lol

hahahaha
Hendra Setiawan I should have named Ray Dorset specifically. I thought *his* name was Mungo Jerry. He looks like someone who could be named 'Mungo' after all...
Lmao, best comment on here. XD
One of the greatest songs ever written.
Wow, 13 years this video has been here, and just this morning showed up in my recommendations. In 1970, I was listening to my 'RCA Portable Transistor AM Radio' while walking down to the deli for an Orange Crush. If I remember right, the soda pop cost 6 cents plus a 2 cents deposit. I sat on the stoop in the summer time, drank the soda, turned in the bottle and bought bubble gum with the deposit money :-) Thank you for this!!
Same, the algorithm is being weird.
It does occasionally for me,since going Premium ive found so much. Not a bot or an employee

In 1970 I'd buy a coke and a candy bar for a quarter. Coke was .10 cents and the candy bar was .15 cents
..."have a drink and a drive...." gotta love that 1970's mentality
there is a certain some body I know who grew up in the 70's that drinks a beer while driving to the bar. I know this because I was with him one time and he said "whoops drinking and driving" then throws the bottle out the window. ok but it's a bit late isn't it. lmao.
Not too terribly long ago it was perfectly legal to drink and drive in Texas. Most of us considered it our God-given, inalienable right, like gun ownership and Friday night football.
Sure, we had laws against driving while intoxicated, but driving around with a beer in your hand wasn't even enough to prompt a traffic stop. We measured the distance between towns by six-packs rather than miles, and a cooler full of longnecks was a perfectly acceptable automotive accessory.
Of course, we also had one of the highest DWI fatality rates in the U.S., but hey! What cha gonna do?
All that's changed now. We actually send people to prison for DWI these days! Still hanging on to our guns and football - some things are too sacred to EVER be messed with - but drinking while driving is no longer cool down here. At least, not as cool as it used to be!
+BillJfromAustin still legal in Mississippi.
There're a number of dry counties too, so it's a wonderful idea

This song sums up the way we all felt during the seventies. Beautiful times happy beyond comprehension. When you are young you love everything and everyone. Life's experiences is what changes you.
Carefree. Such a different time than now. Glad I grew up in that era.
Everything is vibrant when it's young and then decay sets in. It's the nature of our universe, of all things animate and inanimate.
@@Anurania I turn seventy years old this year. I'm learning the hard way. I will never forget what my Dad said once telling me how it felt getting old. I am a bit younger, and don't have as good of a perspective of this time period as I would like, but I always thought Mungo Jerry was an American band, and obviously this is the only song of theirs that I knew, but as I watch this, I see that the cars and buses in the background are extraordinarily British, and after I looked it up I see they were British, and I learned something new. That's what you get for watching a video multiple times I guess. Love you guys. Stay cool.
The video is actually shot in Hyde park in London. The road in the background is Park Lane, the tall building which occassionally comes into shot is The London Hilton. Stay safe.
