- Quick tutorial on how to interface an analog joystick with an Arduino for PWM motor control.
The following is an affiliate link for the joystick used in this video. Using this link may help me earn a small commission to help my channel grow. Thanks for your support!

I’m trying to control two big hub motors that could be powered by 2 VESC (uart tx,rx) or I have 2 motor controllers(ebike) that work on 0-5v potentiometer not sure if the arduino can work with that controller? I also wouldn’t want the go in reverse from center to back, because I f you were moving at 20mph wouldn’t that burn up the motors? I didn’t see your code templet.
Yes, the Arduino can output 0-5V using the PWM analogWrite commands. Also, my code is on Facebook facebook.com/ScienceFun4u/
Thank you for posting. Just what I needed. However, there is no link in the description to the Facebook page with code, but since I don't have a Facebook account, I couldn't get it anyway.
The code will be discussed in the second video, which will be out this morning.
are they gonna make a different on output (if i were using motors) if the max speed forward and backward is different?
I have programmed code before to have a different speed range for forward and reverse while still using the full range of motion of the joystick.
Hi! Thanks for the video. I have a spinal cord injury, and I have limited movement in my hands. At the moment, I am working on a game controller. Please tell me, which controller is better suited for this, Arduino or Raspberry Pi? Can I connect 12 buttons and two such joysticks to Raspberry Pi/Arduino as analog sticks?
I have only done analog using Arduino (I have done digital on the Pi). Yes you can connect a ton to Arduino, especially a big one like the Mega.
I have a couple of these coming in a few days. Could you swap the black and red wires around to reverse the Y axis? I'd like to mount the joystick upside down for a student I'm working with. I'm not planing to use an arduino, this will be with a 3.5 TRRS audio plug for the X1/X2 jacks on the xbox adaptive controller. 1:34
Sorry for the slow reply. I'm not familiar with the Xbox controls, so not sure I can advise. Hopefully you figured something out!
@@ScienceFunInnovations Not a problem, I experimented on it when the joystick came in. As it turns out it does work that way if you reverse vcc and ground across the pot. Wiring up the 3.5 plug for X1 and X2 jacks on the Xbox Adaptive controller goes Tip and 1st ring for data, and 3rd and 4th rings for power and ground.
Help plz!?!??!?
Can I hook this up to Ipac controller interface
I'm not to familiar with the ipac, but if it takes a 0-5V signal, then yes.
I can connect 3 joysticks to one arduino?
Yes. You would need to use 6 analog channels.
Can I connect a Flysky i6 joystick part to arduino?
Yes. Check out my other videos that use an RC tx/rx. I use it to control a linear actuator and an Arduino hovercraft.
@@ScienceFunInnovations oh, wow cool thx 😊
@@ScienceFunInnovations i watch it, i am not seeing the joystick tho
