- You heard me right!! THE BEST TRAIL FORT ORD HAS TO OFFER! According to your boi that is.. lol But yes, 49 North is absolutely amazing and if you haven't ridden it, I definitely recommend you go do so rn!!

49 North is awesome but be careful going down at speed, especially without a bell or something for others to hear you at the many blind turns. Although its bi-directional most people on that trail are going up since its the easiest most direct MTB trail to the rock which is where the Creekside and Reservation parts of Fort Ord intersect with Intergarrison/8th side. Just something to be aware of as with many other trails in Fort Ord.
I know :/ but that’s happening at every trail, especially with the increasing popularity of mtbing and at fort Ord. I’ve been running into people climbing both 50s, 82, 42, 41 all the popular dh trails. People wearing headphones and climbing those trails too!!!!
@@TheOtterBiker Yeah, I've seen that too! I don't understand how some people are comfortable not being able to listen for any oncoming bikers. I literally had a close call with someone climbing 50 south who was blasting music through his head phones a few weeks ago. I'm seriously considering carrying a whistle now specifically for people with headphones cause they can't hear the cow bell hanging off my bars until its too late.
If you were coming from east garrison and riding out on Barloy towards the 50s and 49s. What’s the best loop to make? Between 50 south/49N/49S? Is there one better to climb than the others or everyone goes up and down both?
@@lathamstylemtb It's tricky because there's a lot of climbing over there, but I usually ride down 50n, then climb barloy and go down 50s then climb jacks and lookout ride to go down 49s or 82. But yes you can go up and down both just be careful!
Did the Trail 49 during the Sea Otter in 2015 but didn't remember the name of it. Yes, this was the best trail of that ride. I wish I had gone back and rode it again when I still lived in the Bay Area.
