Easy Baked Ziti Meal for my family of 6 |Cooking with Strawberri

  • Ingredients:
    • 1 lb ground beef
    • 4 pork sausage patties
    • 1 small onion, chopped
    • 1 small green pepper, chopped
    • 3 cloves garlic, minced or 1 tbs minced garlic
    • 1 box ridged ziti noodles (16 oz)
    • 1 tablespoon chicken bouillon powder
    • 1 tablespoon olive oil (for cooking noodles)
    • 1 large jar Ragu tomato sauce (45 oz)
    • 1 teaspoon adobo seasoning
    • 1 teaspoon seasoned salt I used a tablespoon)
    • 1 teaspoon oregano
    • 1/2 teaspoon thyme
    • 1 teaspoon onion powder & garlic powder
    • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
    (Adjust seasonings to taste) (1/2 teaspoon sugar, optional)
    • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (for mixing into the ziti)
    • 16oz Sargento mozzarella cheese slices (enough for layering, and topping)
    Instructions:
    1. Preheat Oven: Preheat to 375°F (190°C).
    2. Prepare Noodles: Boil the ziti noodles according to package instructions, adding chicken bouillon powder and olive oil to the water. Drain and set aside.
    3. Sauté Vegetables:
    • In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat.
    • Sauté the chopped onion and green pepper until softened.
    • Add minced garlic and cook for another minute.
    4. Cook Meat:
    • Add ground beef and pork sausage patties to the skillet with the sautéed vegetables. Cook until browned. Drain excess fat.
    5. Season and Combine:
    • Season the meat and vegetable mixture with adobo, seasoned salt, oregano, thyme, onion powder, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning. Mix well to combine.
    • Add Ragu tomato sauce to the seasoned meat mixture and let it simmer for 10 minutes.
    6. Combine with Noodles:
    • In a large bowl, combine the cooked ziti noodles with the meat sauce mixture. Stir in the shredded cheese.
    7. Assemble the Bake:
    • In a 13x9-inch baking dish, layer half of the ziti mixture. Top with a layer of mozzarella cheese slices. Add the remaining ziti mixture and top with more mozzarella cheese slices.
    8. Bake:
    • Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 6 minutes to brown the cheese.
    9. Cool and Serve: Let the baked ziti cool slightly before serving.
