This is what I've been looking for! I have a full-frame mirrorless with a 100 - 400 telephoto, with a x2 converter, to get that larger moon image. I'm going to try your lesson out to see what I can get! Thanks for this!
Thanks for posting this I don't have Photoshop but do have Serifs Photo Plus 6 which can work in a similar way to what your suggesting here, I think.. Will give it a try now.. Kudos..
Between the Planetary System Stacker video and this one I'm itching to image the moon to try all these tips out. I've only ever made one good mineral moon photo, but have never been able to replicate it on other images.
Thanks for your videos. I am using linux for most things. What program do you use for planetary and lunar capture. FireCapture runs on linux but I have one camera that only works with Sharpcap and Windows. Any other programs that you would suggest?
Nice one Rob. Good to stumble across you on YT :) first result for mineral moon with darktable search! Been playing with DT this week to get the mineral moon. Colour contrast is a great tool in Darktable too. What software are you using to stack videos of the moon? I’m struggling with PIPP/ Autostackert combination- wondered if you were using something else?

Nice one Rob, I remember watching this ages ago too when I’d just started. I’ll keep trying till I get it right 😀

Have you had any luck?
@@StargazerRob haven't taken the camera out in a long time. I'm due to do it again soon though.

You might like to checkout Darktable's "Shadows & Highlights" and "Haze Reduction" tools.

Thanks Kev, I love Darktable! I use 'Planetary System Stacker' for the moon these days
Hey Rob, may i ask, is it possible to get a mineral moon on a stacked image made of jpeg frames?
Yes it is possible, RAW is better I believe, but JPEG will work. I've used compressed video and it's been okay
Planetary System Stacker's Link is not working, can you please provide a new link?
ahh, thanks for letting me know, I've updated it to this link, github.com/Rolf-Hempel/PlanetarySystemStacker
Any links to open in Mac?? i tried and failed!
Interesting technique! Time to shoot the moon 😉
Excellent to hear Bengt, definitely tag me if you tweet your mineral moon! I'd love to see it
