This fella on the phone is precisely why brexit shouldn't have been a straightforward leave or stay referendum.
A large portion of this country are incredibly under educated.
I don’t know if k should laughing or crying to be honest.
Namely James Obrien.
Uneducated is a better description.
James will have to get some bigger headphones to cover up his bald patch

Every day, this poor sod was using 3-pin plugs while at the same time thinking the EU was preventing him from having 3-pin plugs. The capacity for self-delusion in these people knows no bounds. Not only that, but he clearly though he had an intelligent input when he called in to this programme.
He probably still does.
The dunning kruger effect played out😂 text book.
Inicidentally, the The CEE 7/5 socket and CEE 7/6 plug often used in countries like France and Belgium do have an earth pin (but the male part is on the socket itself rather than the plug which means that you can also use that socket with a plug with no female part for the earth like the CEE 7/16 and CEE 7/17)
@@philippenachtergal6077 There us an safty advantage and loss on both sides. the 3 pin UK plug the longer earth (top one) opens the lower live and neatral pins so there is a lot less chance of someone (a kid) putting somthing in the live or neutral holes and electracuting themselfs.. There is a advatage to the EU plugs though. a sharp tug of the cable will remove the plug (not really possible on UK plugs) making it easer to make the enviroment safe in case of an accident like someone has been electracuted by a faulty device
He lives in a bathroom
I sit here in Portugal having moved here in 2013, still using my UK TV, toaster, kettle and electric blanket daily. With nothing more than three pin adaptors saving me from rampant EU regulations. I despair of the utter stupidity of 51% of my former countrymen.
What a cry baby 😂 did you move to Portugal as a brexit sulk?

@@joshsalvidge9615 Wow, what a witty riposte, though they say they'd moved to Portugal in 2013...you know, two years before the referendum 🙄
Also very much doubt they're crying, as Portugal is a great country, plus they will be free to live and work anywhere else in the EU.

@@captain_context9991the connection (the context if you will) between Brexit & Trump is Cambridge Analytica.
@@alanhat5252
Yeah Cambridge Analyticas biggest issue was the unauthorized collection of personal data. Using peoples information to create psychological profiles of users to better target advertisement for them. Without consent. And from there its very easy to predict what they will vote.
Thing is... To nobodys surprise, populism remains popular. And will always be. THEY ARE EATING OUR DOGS will always hit home. Will always be easier to sell than expensive education and intellect that requires real effort.

When are Ireland losing their 3 pin plugs then?
The chap on the phone is a typical example how ridiculous the brexiters had been at the time.
They still are.
You can use whatever plugvyou like as long as your wiring is up to standard. Here in Italy we have both 2 and 3 pin plus, depending on the appliance
Same in the USA. Our outlets accept two or three prong plugs. Both are perfectly safe to use.
Ireland is in the EU and has 3 pin plugs.
Exactly the plugs were likley never going to be touched, there is no point as most other plugs are downgrades and changing them would be a waste of money
@@glorifiedonion6676To not keep the 3 pin plug it would have meant changing every single wire and cable in the UK to have the 2 phase system the EU run on.
The EU plug is far safer and a very clever design! Amazing! Hilarious call in hindsight! 😂🤣
@@gtully40The Uk runs on the same system, single phase, the cable colours are the same. it’s just the plugs and sockets that are different. It would just require changing them to European ones. But there was never any requirement for that to happen.
Clever yes but not far safer, just as safe@ilovepuneetdajoker
Now that we are free from the EU, I hope we can introduce a sanity test so that we can mitigate the risk of national self-harm exposed by the likes of Mr 3-Pin-Plug Brexiteer.
The electrical standards throughout Europe have already been harmonised it’s one of the reasons we use brown and blue instead of the old red and black
Just to expand on what you said harmonisation was where they looked at what was the highest standard and then made everybody else come up to that standard.
and they have 2 pin & 3 pin devices, the same as us... just that the larger plugs touch connect the earth, saving on extra cabling!
Quite why you would have an electrical wire called 'earth' and not make it the brown wire is one of the dumbest decisions in the history of all things trade and DIY.
@@johnwhite2293if they really wanted to improve standards they would have made the British three pin plug the EU standard. It is far higher in safety than the European version. Many American electric experts agree the Brit 3 pin plug is the safest in the world.
Americans put the fuse in the wall
Malta is in the EU and has 3 pin plugs.
So is Cyprus and Ireland from what I can remember. The plug itself is just safer and the EU wouldn't need to force Britain to change anything, it would be a huge waste of money
But if Malta and us Irish leave the EU, it will give us the right to use 3 pin plugs!
What this shows is just how few people meet the standard necessary to make sound decisions. These people tell you everything you need to know about the value of public opinion. Brexit should NEVER have been an issue of a simple majority, 2/3 majority would have been much more reasonable.
Well, it was only fair to have the same type of referendum (simple majority) regarding leaving as we had regarding (not quite) joining. It would've been quite unreasonable to shift the goalposts.
It was only an advisory referendum and should never have been acted upon.
I think it shows why we can’t trust even this kind of media because it intentionally interviews idiots to make themselves look right or better and all sides do this
Brexit would have been better, and I voted to remain, if people were just educated in what they were voting for. Even then, I'd have voted to remain.
This is the level of intelligence of those that voted for brexit.😮😳
The best one I was told was they were voting for brexit because they wanted us to have our own currency the £ and not go with the Euro!! 😲😳😁
I thought the washing machine guy was funny and the guy talking about Bats

James has found the brexit bonus: less furrows
Education Education Education. This caller needs some!
Blair said the same again and again -- and look what happened
Whenever we discuss democracy it cannot be ignored that the vote of this caller effectively negated mine. Democracy would be so much better if you had to pass a test for your vote to count.
Who writes and administers the test? Jim Crow south had literacy tests, we all know how that worked out.
@@waxhawguyshould be a test based on all the parties policy, so you understand what your voting for, every policy should be anonymous so you don't know what party policy it is.
Yes, this. A basic knowledge test on the subject matter of the vote. Dead easy to do. Can even be multiple choice.
@@EcoSailor problem is that it would stop people from actually voting, it's already hard enough to get people to do as is. Only two of my classmates actually voted
@glorifiedonion6676 an ill informed vote isn't worth having.

@@Varley-k1n A bunch of them, but I quite like him. So I was asking you to fill-in-the-gaps for me.
@@weswheel4834 Don't hold your breath! From experience, when people like our hero are challenged to prove their claims, the most common response is silence, followed by either digression and/or whataboutery. Within the last couple of days I had one on, and he went silent after a couple of digressions when I made it clear that that tactic wouldn't fool me.
James is a complete tool. He fails to acknowledge at all times that we have an immigration problem in this country. He fails to acknowledge at all times that people from different cultures are different and do not all share the same values. He will blatantly lie, ignore evidence, and attempt mental gymnastics to never waiver from his viewpoint despite massive evidence to the contrary.
It’s the power of ideology and propaganda, you’re seeing the same now with Trump. He believes Brexit is right but he can’t actually articulate why, it’s pure emotion and he just fumbles for facts that he can use to tell himself that his emotions are valid
If you asked one person to gauge the value of something, the result may be wildly incorrect. If you ask 30 odd million, and take the mean value, the resulting "guess" is exceptionally accurate. Individual guesses amongst the figures will be wildly awry, and some of them may not be able to articulate the answer, let alone understand the question. That fact remains that over half of those who voted, made the decision to leave is the end of the matter. The instinct not to have decisions made from outside the country is both reasonable and valid, even if this clot didn't have a valid example. Ironically, it was the very opacity of what passed for democracy in Brussels decision-making that caused this chap to have no ready answer! We're well shot of the EU, although, had it remained a relatively simple customs union I have no doubt we'd still be in it. But it didn't, and we're not, thank Christ!
Im from Denmark, I have two slow cookers, bought in England (pre-Brexit) they have three-pin plugs, so I simply bought adaptors for them
Ireland have had three pin plugs same as British ones for a loooonnng time
This
note: EU ALSO has 3 prongs.
We also have the switch for each plug, which is useless.
And the fuse in each plug, which is pretty cool.
The switch isn't useless; it allows you to stop the flow of current without having to come into contact with the plug itself to remove it. The added bonus is that it can stay plugged in without any problems as the circuit can be closed
@@MagnusInsomnia If you are reaching to the switch, you are already placing your hand by the plug; you might as well take the plug out, or even jank it off holding the cord in an emergency.
The switch is encouraging you to leave an appliance plugged instead of unplugging it.
It's just additional complexity for no gain (actually, a small lose).
The fuse is useless when everybody uses the 13A type (that's shipped with single sold plugs) on appliances with lower gauge wires.
@@DrKlausTrophobie Kinda like saying that the belt in a car is useless when nobody puts it on.
People use whatever fuse was in the plug to begin with, and then what they replace it with is their responsibliity. They have been given the problem design to do it well.
Absolute hilarious and frustrating at the same time.
The EU doesn't regulate main sockets (but we could learn from our neighbours how to wire houses better!)
He's mad. But one positive: has reminded me of how experienced electricians who also worked in EU speak of the fantastic way electricity is wired and fused in other countries (e.g. France): we've actually lots to learn and improve with wiring!

The one for me is how bendy bananas have to be.
He really thinks his plugs are safer than the German ones.
Another favourite was the caller who voted Leave because his partner said on leaving we could buy home grown organic pineapples..
I guess that was one benefit the Brexies never mentioned in 2016.
Also, all of EU has grounded plugs and no new buildings have been allowed to be built without grounded sockets for a loooong time.
Some appliances do have 3 pin plugs over on this side of the pond, at least in Poland. If a device doesn’t have a need for grounding, it uses only the power plugs, if it’s bigger or has exposed metal we do have a bigger plug with ground. I don’t understand the problem.
I have a feeling that without our over engineered and incredibly safe 3 pin plugs this caller wouldn't have made it to adulthood.
