With all due respect to Radiohead, this song, in my opinion, is very goofy and monotonous, and it's good that it was not included in any album. Despite the fact that I don't like the song. Nevertheless, it sounds much nicer when performed by Joe Edelmann.
Joe … I like this better than the original, wow seriously . Well done man. Especially the vox voice thing you did there, brilliant . Also your levels are just perfect, you know how to record properly and you do it right .
Great cover, Joe. Also, have you thought about another video about Jonny's delay tricks, particularly Thin Thing and Just Eyes and Mouth?! You should do it.
Magnificent as always, Joe! Really like the dry sound of your acoustic here! Maybe just a tad bit more "spongy" and it would have been perfect, but I am nitpicking xD
I actually covered this song live too in feb in an event for my college. Obviously yours is much much better: I ended up arranging it for piano. Such a fun song to play. Something about that chorus is just so addicting.
amazing as always! love the vocoder harmonies. its impressive how precise you were able to hear the harmony melody. i still cant figure some parts out since it blends so much with the main. lots of fifths i assume.
@@greenf77 I play notes (for example, A and D, or D and G power chords on the MIDI keyboard. The plugin makes a synthesizer sound with those chords and the volume and frequency profile of my voice opens gates around the synthesizer in those same frequencies, giving the impression the synth is singing along!
Every bit as good as the recently released version, which is quite a feat. I'm thoroughly impressed. That said, I'd still pay money for you to do a Meeting People is Easy version. That's what I was hoping they'd release...
Do you have the settings for the arturia vocoder? I have the plugin so it would be fun for me to try it as well lol, thank you very much as usual and great cover, I actually liked the one we got on Kid Amnesia!
I should be able to pull them! I think it was basically just two saw waves, maybe a tiny bit of frequency modulation. And I rolled off the first few low and high frequency bands. Thanks!
@@JoeEdelmann3 sort of! In other versions of Follow Me Around (like the Latitude festival live one) he sings 'did you lie to us, Tony? We thought you were different. Now you know we're not so sure.' The song was written around 98/99/00 ie New Labour and Tony Blair. So the Thatcher's children line is a clever reference to the neoliberal consensus being passed from Thatcher (Conservative) to Blair (Labour) ie there's not that much difference between them, Blair and his 'cronies' (to borrow a term from You And Whose Army, a reference to 'Tony's cronies') are literally and metaphorically children of Thatcher. I love how Thom sort of erases his workings from the final published version but the breadcrumbs are always there...
Joe, please listen to the album 'The Good Will Out' by a hugely underrated British band called Embrace. Unfortunately they were competing against the likes of Oasis etc. It would be nice to see you cover some of their tracks off that album. 🙂
After all this time watching your channel I just figured out that you normally upload videos on Fridays and today I was maybe missing your videos or something and an idea came into my head making me thought: "Imagine if Joe upload a cover today" lol. Anyways, awesome cover as always and looking forward to The Smile's covers when the album is released, am I the only one anxious about it? Holy fuck lol hope they drop it ASAP. this is so fake, you can literally hear both voices of Thom Yorke and this guy pretending to be Thom Yorke , if youre going to do a cover do a cover !!!!
Brilliant job mate 👏
Great cover and voice!
There, there, please and nice job!
YESS JOE YOU BEAUTY
I keep expecting the camera to accidentally slip and show Thom handcuffed to a microphone, it's THAT close-sounding
You sound just like Thom on this one!
We follow Joe around 😃
Hell yes
Would be cool if you did a 2017 thom Johnny cr 78 version
this is spot on, chills!
Easily the most underrated Radiohead b side
nah, fog takes the cake.
@@justtp5981 talk show host ):
@@actuallythepie I sometimes forget that is a B side

That was absolutely amazing bro I usually hate covers but this was just amazing
Incredible cover, I enjoyed it way more than the original version, it is all so clean and fit your voice perfectly
You're extremely talented Joe, this sounds fantastic. And your voice is beautiful, it needs a band around it!
Damn, saying you did the original justice is an understatement, great job!
Loving that, may try to learn this.
Sorry, Joe. I overslept😂
I felt this is the right song for the morning. You made my day, thanks!🙏
Haha no worries bud, thanks!! ☺️
This is your best vocal performance!!
Epic stuff Joe
Wicked.

Fantastic, dude 😎🙌🏼
I can hardly tell this apart from the original version, very good!
You sound incredible on this one. Nice seeing and hearing a more minimalist piece. Really makes me appreciate your delivery.
Just amazing! No more to say 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
So accurate! Well done my friend 🧐
Great cover man! I notice you got the little vibrato trills down too; nice subtle details.
So good! My favorite artist for covers and own songs for a while
wowwwww!
you nailed it
I don't know how you keep getting these songs so bang-on.
finally.
He's done it again! Nice one Joe 👍
SO GOOD
Nice cover Joe! Love Radiohead and you're really doing a great job here :) thanks a lot for sharing :)
You are amazing!
Excellent!
Sick dude
Sounds perfect to me ;D
Joe, boy, what an amazing cover you did!
Great cover, Joe. Also, have you thought about another video about Jonny's delay tricks, particularly Thin Thing and Just Eyes and Mouth?! You should do it.
Thanks! Not a bad idea!
This is gonna be my first time listening to Radiohead cover Joe. So exciting🙈🙈🙈
Radiohead rocks! Covered Joe perfectly! Totally worth the wait🤣 From now on, I'll always listen to new songs from Joe before Radiohead.
Killer dude. Earned a new sub.
Thank you! ☺️
Fucking nailed it

its impressive how precise you were able to hear the harmony melody. i still cant figure some parts out since it blends so much with the main. lots of fifths i assume.
Yeah, exactly! A under D, and D under G!
How does the vocal vocoder harmony work?

Now you know.. we're not so sure
Thatcher’s children. See you on the way back down.
What guitar is that?
It’s a Washburn D10N with an LR Baggs M1 Active pickup!
Ever considered doing a version of Blow Out ?!.... Just in case you take requests ;)
Definitely! 😉
follow me around except it's panned properly
Jokes aside, really digging the vocoder!
Haha thanks! There was a solid minute I considered matching the album panning but then I realized other people would also prefer the more logical way
What do you think 'Thatcher's children' means, Joe?
@@cackhandedchimp I’m guessing it’s a reference to former British prime minister Margaret Thatcher, and beyond that I don’t know! 😅

What you did to get that voice effect, is it layered with modified pitch?
It’s a vocoder! (Synthesizer sound that takes the consonant sounds from my voice and mixes it with an oscillator)

I know their drummer. He played on one of my tracks many years ago.
Nice work Joe! How’d you achieve that vocal harmonizer effect?
Thanks!! It was Arturia’s Vocoder instrument and I played in the midi notes!
Is the vocal effect a ring mod?
It’s a vocoder! (Specifically, Arturia’s Vocoder V plugin)
