And during the time she was body shamed for being "fat," she was actually quite a bit skinnier and much younger than she is now. So you can imagine how warped the mentality is in elite gymnastics. I used to have the same mindset when I was in both gymnastics and track. Before every competition I had to try to convince myself that at 105 lbs I wasn't too fat to compete. I felt like an out-of-shape undisciplined loser. When I look back at pictures I cant believe how grossly skinny I looked. At least in the years since Katelyn was elite there has been a significant change in body types we see at elite competitions. Even mothers are competing at world championships now.
