Every winter for the past 5 years I winter camp at Tettagouche and Cascade. Nothing like the Cascade for a winter weekend. Then a trip through Grand Marais and a little backwoods exploring. Loving your videos and sharing them with my youngest.

I too like to winter camp, but #1 lesson i learned was, propane. Always take more than you think you’ll need. Nothing worse than waking up cold and no choice but to leave earlier than you wanted. Great video👍.
Need to just bring along your own fire ring as a volcano cooker - and it fulfills all fire and ranger conditions. One can even put in back of pickup and cooking with coals with hot meal in process. then pull over and have a fresh hot cooked meal. Volcano cookers are good - or if you find a small SOLO fire ring and cooker. Even better is my John-firecan cooker unit. All the cooking items you need in the size of an oversized Coleman vacuum bottle.
Yak tracks. Reasonable. Menard's has a version as well, a little cheaper. I wear daily in MN winter. They go on and off my boots. I have for years. If you want to spend some cash, I have Icebug boots as well. If you are a daily walker on ice and snow, but not too deep they are nice. And the studs can be replaced. Just some options to keep you upright in winter!

Blue Rhino and others only fill them about 80% full, but charge more than a full tank costs to refill. If you have the time, you'll probably save over $20 by refilling.
You are 100% correct. I try to have my local Tractor Supply fill them. They charge 10 bucks. The guy even opens that valve on the side to purge all the air out of the tank when he starts to fill.
I guess special places are most enjoyed on special occasions. It's wonderful to have places to enjoy after much anticipation. Just wondering, why does your Instrument cluster flash on and off ?
That's a good question. The light flickers because the frequency of the Leds matches the camera frame rate. It doesn't flash unless you look at it through the camera.

Heyyy I have a 2022 arctic fox and I really want to use it as home base for skiing and snowshoeing this winter up in Canada. Just wondering how well your camper holds up in the winter. Do you keep the wate going or winterized it?
I do winterize it. I wait as long as I can. I run a small heater in the drain compartment and keep fans running in the basement. But there comes a time when it gets to expensive.. This is a video explaining it. ruclips.net/video/35WJi_PAops/видео.html
Thanks, I stay pretty laid back. I watch Chrome on Vancity and love all his energy, and wish I had that for my channel but that's just not me. But there's all types on RUclips, I think that is what makes the platform great.
Hay Susan, I get all my music off Epidemic Sound. If you give me an idea of the time of the songs, I will definitely let you know. Another option that I will do if I'm looking for a song that I hear on a RUclips video is to ask Google "what song is playing" on my cell phone, while the video is playing on the TV or computer.
The 9 is complete trash so I bought the Go Pro 10. The cold weather performance is horrible on it. They came out with a new cold weather performance battery. It lasts about 10 minutes longer than the originals. But I'm still using the Gopro 10.
@@KennyOfAllTrades I saw a positive review of the DJI Osmo Action 4 camera. I’ve not used any video cameras as of yet. How many cameras do you use for your filming? You inspired me to pick up a DJI Mini 4 Pro drone which I’m having fun with! Trying not to crash it😉😳 Kevin

Wow a Pay Phone???? Not sure which is more of a rarity, a payphone or a quarter? BTW how many quarters did it take to use the pay phone? The day I don't think twice about the things around me when I step outside is when I'd be moving. People are in toooooo much of a rush anymore. Sad that gpro's are Forcing people to buy new batteries instead of replacing manufacturer defected products.
Lol. The payphone was at the State Park Office. It's used to make reservations and emergency calls. There's not a lot of cell towers in northern MN, service is spotty at best. The phone looks just like an old payphone but dosen't cost anything. I think a few people have gotten a chuckle out of the payphone.
Exchanging tanks at the gas station is a last resort option. They noticeably weigh less compared to a tank that's refilled. And when I get my tanks refilled, some guys watch the scale closely. Other guys will purge the air out and fill the tank until it won't except anymore propane. Those tanks feel like they weigh twice as much as an exchanged tank.
That's a tuff question. I love the Northern Lite and Bigfoot. The two piece clam shell design is going to outlast the competition. But Lance and some others that use azdel siding and don't have to worry about delamination, so it's less of an issue. Then there's Arctic Fox, the camper that made Truck Camping for me feel like a four star hotel. I did have an opportunity to check out a Northern Lite. I was a little disappointed with how small it felt compared to my Arctic Fox. The lack of head room in the Northern Lite was noticeable as well. I have never been in a Host or Eagle Cap, they look very capable , but heavier then my AF. The Cirrus looks interesting with the in floor heat. That would be awesome in the winter! Sooooo awesome! So I can't pick! Right now I'm happy with my Arctic Fox. I paid 6 grand for it. I Initially looked for a Northern Lite, but even a twenty year old camper cost 15 grand. So I say get what you can afford and be comfortable in.
Yes. But when it gets into late December, I no longer carry water. It is too expensive to keep the tanks warm while I'm at work all week. I only go out on the weekends.
I had a pop up once. It was a nice step up from a tent. There was a lot of maintenance to the one I owned. I would get condensation on the walls just like a tent. If I didn't let out dry completely I would get a moldy smell. Mine wasn't usable without the top up. That was a pain because I go in and out of my camper a lot while traveling. I didn't like the canvas walls. It still felt like a tent to me. The walls would frost up in the cold, and get wet with high humidity. So my opinion.....the pop-up was a nice upgrade from a tent. It got me into the Truck Camper game. I consider the hard side a step-up from the soft side. I would not go back. But with that said we all use our campers differently. Some people wouldn't consider a hard side because of there needs.
The current camper has been in the bed of my truck for almost 2 years. I really take it out, almost never. Only if I need the truck for work or something. Otherwise the camper is in the truck 365 days a year.
@@nursenasdaq I absolutely love my camper. I work a regular Monday through Friday job and make videos on Saturday and Sunday. I've been doing that every weekend for over a year and a half. I have only missed 2 videos. I think the only way that I could keep going with this schedule is because the camper feels like an apartment. It dosent feel like I'm ruffing it out in the middle of the forest even though I'm boondocking in the forest 75% of the time.
Those blue rhino tanks are garbage they only fill them 3/4 full typically 15lbs max always get your tanks filled vs swap if you can those exchanges are a ripoff. Also watch for the manufacturing date on the thanks that you swap because they will give you out of date tanks and their recertification process and B.S. sticker are a joke too
You are 100% correct. Exchanging tanks is a joke. I try to get mine filled at tractor supply. I don't like it when I'm forced to overpay for an exchange.

The sensors make me aware that someone getting close to the rig. That way I'm up and ready to say hi before they knock on the door.

Thanks, much appreciated!
Did you say "Gnome box"? I don't know if The Amazing Race is still around, but wouldn't it be funny if it was connected to the contestants or something? Ha.

@@KennyOfAllTrades hey Thankyou :) I love your vibe!
Thanks, I stay pretty laid back. I watch Chrome on Vancity and love all his energy, and wish I had that for my channel but that's just not me. But there's all types on RUclips, I think that is what makes the platform great.
Wow I haven't seen a pay phone that still works in years.
It was to make the reservation at the Park. The cell service is not the best in northern MN.
Hi Kenny, what's the music that you played on this video ???
I liked it a lot
Hay Susan, I get all my music off Epidemic Sound. If you give me an idea of the time of the songs, I will definitely let you know. Another option that I will do if I'm looking for a song that I hear on a RUclips video is to ask Google "what song is playing" on my cell phone, while the video is playing on the TV or computer.
Ok thanks
You probably answered this question 20 times in the comments... did the GoPros eventually start working correctly 😮
The 9 is complete trash so I bought the Go Pro 10. The cold weather performance is horrible on it. They came out with a new cold weather performance battery. It lasts about 10 minutes longer than the originals. But I'm still using the Gopro 10.

I saw a positive review of the DJI Osmo Action 4 camera. I’ve not used any video cameras as of yet.
How many cameras do you use for your filming?
You inspired me to pick up a DJI Mini 4 Pro drone which I’m having fun with! Trying not to crash it😉😳
Kevin
Tractor Supply only gives you 4 gallons too
Isn't that Weird a Volcano Did you know that there are Volcanos in Albuquerque and they just had a Earthquake about Two Weeks ago on the Prairie fault line I think it was 5.2 come to find out Albuquerque is sinking Strange what you Can find out😊
Wow a Pay Phone????
Well it was a chuckle @@KennyOfAllTrades that had perfect timing.
10 million years ago there were volcanoes along the north shore.
When you exchange those tanks at a convenience store you don't get 5 gallons do you? Only four.
@@KennyOfAllTrades yes sir I do the same thing.
Whats your vote for the best cold weather truck camper brand? I am thinking Bigfoot or Northern Lite?
@@KennyOfAllTrades excellent feedback
Do you have heated tanks
Yes. But when it gets into late December, I no longer carry water. It is too expensive to keep the tanks warm while I'm at work all week. I only go out on the weekends.
I too like thin crust pizza
I'm torn between this and a popup truck camper. I'm like you prefer to stay north.
@@KennyOfAllTrades do you keep it on your truck all the time? Mine will have to stay loaded.
The current camper has been in the bed of my truck for almost 2 years. I really take it out, almost never. Only if I need the truck for work or something. Otherwise the camper is in the truck 365 days a year.
@@KennyOfAllTrades that is what I am looking for. Hotels during my contracts and camper on weekends and between contracts.
