    TIP: Unless you're using a Meter Taxi, never get a quote for a ride from a taxi driver or tuk-tuk driver! They will always overcharge tourists by double the amount! Use a ride-share service like GRAB or BOLT so you know exactly how much a ride should cost.

    • @kayflip2233
      @kayflip2233 Год назад +6

      Grab is a rip off too though. Meter taxi is the cheapest and most reliable. Then once you know the meter price you can negotiate with any taxi drivers that claim their meters are broken.

      Confirm that Grab and Bolt is a rip off.. double the price of normal metered taxi... Good luck with that 😅

    Wat Pho is an old temple south of the Grand Palace. It is also known also as the Temple of the Reclining Buddha rebuilt by King Rama III in 1832. The King also decreed that traditional Thai massage and traditional medicine be inscribed on stone tablets to deseminate the knowledge to the general public. The famous Thai spa and massage are believed to originate from such stone inscription. King Rama III was also known as Merchant Prince because when he was still a prince he conducted trade with China and asked the ship captain to bring back stone sculptures such as Chinese deities, mythical beasts as stabilizing balance in the ship's belly. These stone sculptures are now commonly seen at Wat Pho, Wat Arun and the Grand Palace. When President Obama had only one day to tour a Thai temple, US Embassy recommended this temple due to its unique architecture, history and beautiful reclining Buddha.

    very good choice for the mango and sticky rice. the sticky rice of this shop is the best in my opinion. if you have a chance to try other stores, you'll know what i mean. by the way, sometimes you need to bargain when buying things from ordinary stores in thailand. even for that tuk-tuk, you should bargain. he overcharged you, 50-60 bahts are enough for that distance. when taking taxi within the city, they are required by laws to charge you per meter rates, not a flat rate. subways and sky-trains are also very easy to take and cover most of bangkok + cheaper to get around for one person.

    The temple was believed that was built in 1688-1703 in Ayutthaya period. The first king of Chakri dynasty established Bangkok as new city in 1789 restored and reconstructed the old temple and established as the royal temple. The riclining buddha was built later in king rama 3 period and even turn the temple into university for people to study many subjects from literature, archaeology, pharmacopoeia, versification and even medical. Those buddhas in the corridor was collect from all over the country in order to preserved it because before that time the burmese destroyed many of Thai temple and arts and buddha statue.

    While BMTA non-aircon red bus is very cheap at 8 baht, it is relatively hot in humid Bangkok all year round. For those Thais who live along Chao Phraya River, there is an alternative. You can patronise Chao Phraya Ferry Service at price less than 20 baht or more for the longest distance. Cash only for fare. The service started about 50 years ago, using diesel engine to propel the boat. However, starting in 2020 there is a new competition of modern aircon electric boat service at a flat fare of 20 baht for all destinations. MINE Smart Ferry accepts Visa/Master Card card or you can buy fill-in card. Cash is not accepted. There is also an aircon electric tourist boat for 30 baht fare. You need to purchase a ticket before boarding a tourist boat. There is also an open-air top deck on tourist boat if you choose to face the weather and have a better view of Chao Phraya River and its environs. For crossing Chao Phraya River to the other side pier, the fare is cheap about 5 baht. However, there is a free ferry service to cross Chao Phraya River to IconSiam and AsiaTique to shop/dine.

    Welcome to Thailand. Almost everything is good and safe here, except the traffic. Thai drivers are not very disciplined. Breaking traffic rules can be seen frequently. Be very careful when crossing the roads. Motocycles might come from nowhere and hit you. Do not fully trust the traffic lights for drivers may not follow them. Also food gets rot more quickly in a very hot climate as it is in Thailand. Take only newly cooked food. Whenever you feel stomach pain after eating for a while, immediately make yourself vomit all food in your stomach. And you'll be safe from food poisioning.
