@@thtavrgwhteguy8808 I've been trying to learn this harmonica part but can't quite get it. Was excited to see this reply...is there anyway you could send me the harmonica TAB for it? I can give you my email if thats helpful and your down? Thanks!
The poetry. And they gave a Nobel to Dylan, some kind of overkill. Make no mistake, I'm a Dylan fan, too. But Mercer meets Dylan's best from any period, just with the poetry. And, his melodies, too. And... he sings better than Dylan. Did I need to say that?
Easily one of the best lyricists since the turn of the millennium. Even today.
It's his vocal melodies that get me. They take so many unexpected twists and turns but still flow beautifully. GOAT in that regard I reckon.
Really I have no idea what he’s singing about!! “Into bits in my moat? “ I mean WHAT? Great melody though
Please listen to City and Color's If I Should Go Before You album. Similar vibe, more structured and similar level of songwriting.
@@blaumausfrauagreed - not a clue what on earth he sings or means but its still good.
This song has made me realise how beautiful the word 'luscious' sounds
whatever James Mercer touches turns to gold
we got the proof right here
How could someone dislike this? He is a beautiful human with incredibly beautiful talent.
Seeing James Mercer play live solo acoustic is at the top of my musical bucket list.
Wow. his voice is so so beautiful.
Amazingly good! Loved this song for so long...
Dang, he still can hit those high notes. Amazing!
He is a leggiero tenor which makes it pretty easy for him and those aren't really high for him. .
Kurt Autumn
Yup, thankfully, I can higher notes as I get older, for some strange reason. I can now follow Squeeze :)
this is a work of art
One of the best now a days.
Againan Again he's the master
Amazing lyrics, amazing song
Chills. Oh my god.

This song makes me fell "in it"

i definitely am gonna learn a harmonica because of this
wow
The ending of the song, where nobody applauds, is very sad.
Too emo for the crowd
There are only like five people there, it was a very bad blizzard in Portland the night of this recording
I would have come to this even with a hurricane!!!
i am frome saudi and i love Jamse
the beginning cracks me up
Damn man, great voice and great tune carry. Timing is different, but it's a cover!😎
Yeah you're right. This is from a radio show in Portland.
Where was he playing at sounds like there's like three people
oh my god
Easily the best cover I've ever heard
You do realize this is the actual singer for The Shins, right? Can you cover your own song?
Alec Watson lmao I did not know that. Appreciate you pointing it out

Modern day Neil Young
oh este homem...
@ilovethepeppers
I agree with you %100
He's frikkin awesome...which is pretty much implied by what you said....but ....whatever...so....
James' voice is so much better than Neil Young's.
Where is this from? I would love to find out what show.
From the show called "you are a mug" ;)
you got any more info on that? i googled it and it only brings me back to your comment
it was just a gig with a few mates, Rich mates who had mercer round playing tunes, wouldn't that be nice.
1 Person is such a nonconformist! amazing.

Daniel Julian Agreed with your point. But the good thing is, Mercer still has a lot of days to live, much more than Dylan.
Hello friend how are you doing today
@@robertterry9359 I'm still hangin' out underneath the power lines, seeking shade. Wire you asking me?

X1039 fm
Like a good looking Karl Pilkington
@smilelikumnit You can only imagine the type of person sitting behind the computer which disliked this...
Also, I am aware that the Goblin anonymous or whatever isn't the artist
I really want this version! Any suggestions of how one may come about getting a copy?
Hello friend how are you doing today
Anyone know where to get the tab for it?
I found it in ultimate guitar tabs .com
I must be biased, but are the Irish the artists of the English language?
.
@ameliapeacock me too!
The beginning sounds like something Demetri Martin would play
Not sure. James isn't Irish if that's what you're alluding to.
Good grief, someone in the current mainstream indie/rock/pop scene who actually knows how to write a song. Whatever next?
You're not the father
2 people are seriously tone deaf.
