- According to a report in 2016, China has built 87,000 dams. Why does China need so many dams? Because, it wants to turn water into a weapon.

Pathetic handling of governance and international relations. 0:06 ...and India has less than 5500 dams. Am not suggesting that India should also go mad like China, but yes we do lack a lot behind China. In Jharkhand we took around 42years to complete a dam. Politics & Red Tapisim is ruining our nation.
It is a bitter truth that countries that are democratic and have free media start off much much slowly that dictatorial/military/fascist regimes. The bottleneck is just the inertia of the democratic tug of war for political power and consensus.
Once the momentum of development builds up, a democracy will overtake a dictatorship in no time. History is full of such examples, here are a few that started out roughly even:
* Iraq vs Turkey
* North Korea vs South Korea
* Pakistan vs India
Just wait and watch, fellow Indian. China under the CCP is just a bigger North Korea, waiting to be either broken up or democratized.
@@varunmanjunath9123 why don't you compare China and India. Since Pakistan is a democratic country like India. In the 80s and 90s India was still slightly ahead of China and since then that was it. You could be right but you have to put some KPIs in. Like about 10 years ago, I often heard Indians saying that they will overtake China in 5 years time based on GDP growth rate. But 10 years has passed and it is still no where to be seen. So now we know that believe is crap bcos India did not overtake China in 5 years time. So put some KPIs and we shall see the outcome. 😊
@@gwo-shyanhan1188 Oh, those were my examples based on history other than India and China!!! I was drawing a parallelism! You are very right about an even comparison between India and China in the context of 1950-1980s. Thank you for pointing it out explicitly.
This is the exactly the point I put across in my previous comment! China is leaps and bounds ahead of India economically in 2020 BECAUSE of the unchallenged unilateral and mafia-like fascist regime of CCP! Whereas, India was (and is partially) stumbling on the double-edged sword of democracy, elections and liberal media! It is just a matter of time before India overthrows China economically while China begins to deal with the monstrosity called the CCP. Please read my previous comment again now based on this perspective.
Regarding the KPIs, it is well known that Saddam Hussein did many real improvements for Iraqi citizens, like infrastructure, free medical facilities, program on eradication of illiteracy, etc. But all that was erased by his evil deeds (reminiscent of CCP?). On the other hand, Turkey which gained independence in 1923, is at $2 trillion GDP (PPP) growing at 7.5% with a public debt of 28% of its GDP, Iraq is at 600 billion GDP (PPP) shrinking at -2.1% "growth" with a public debt of 60% of its GDP (2017 statistics).
Similarly with India-Pakistan and the two Koreas, started out even, but are now worlds apart. I'll leave the research of these two cases to you. Oh, and please, Pakistan is not democratic, "democracy" is a puppet of the military of Pakistan, namely the ISI. It just holds a facade of democracy, akin to China.
Coming to the KPI of India and China, India is a steadily slow growing economy, no huge peaks or troughs, it is a federally stable state with a centralized banking structure and thus does not suffer huge foreign dependencies like most other countries. India has very broad range of economic routes, from agriculture to pharmaceuticals and steel to technology. Slow but steady growth has been the trend of India since its inception in 1947 (2 years before a certain communist terror started its uni-partisan reign in China), which will soon increase in rate due to a nationalistic and less corrupt central Indian governance.
On the other hand, it is a proven fact that the CCP regime has been maintaining its economic power by a geopolitical trade disparity since the 1980s. This is the KPI you are referring to with so much pride. Let's decode this. The CCP China is a supply chain fed regime, having a huge trade deficit with its neighbours on the east but a HUGER trade surplus with the western world. This is the "Made in China" label, which is false, it is only "assembled in China", made in Vietnam, Japan, Phillipines, Taiwan, etc. However, this plan is now getting infeasible due to globalization, changing demographics and labour cost. That is why China is trying to use technology to monitor all global affairs and is trying desperately to make its BRI (Belt and Road Initiative) to Eastern Europe come true.
At this juncture of internal economic strife, the CCP is creating an illusion of nationalism and fervor based on territorial aggression against India, Bhutan, Nepal, Russia, Mongolia, South China Sea, etc. (similar to how it invaded East Turkestan and Tibet in 1949 and 1950s to suppress internal political uprising). This is what China tried in Galwan valley a month ago (June 2020), but today's India is different and China shuddered under Indian military action and mounting global pressure.
I hope I answered your doubt. I must say I admire your invitation for dialogue, unlike another Chinese person who just insinuated that Indians are "idiots". Have a good day. The world has nothing against China or the Chinese people, it is only against the expansionist control-freak "communist" leadership called the CCP. :)

Dams damage the river and ecosystem .
They even tried to buy Australia water supply. Imagine that.
thnk`s for that data LECRON.
Why electricity is expensive 🤔
Like China needs it. They now have plenty of water in their streets! AHAHAHAHA!
There is already a water war of sorts. Many countries offshore agriculture based on their lack of sufficient agricultural water resources. Saudi started this strategy once they discovered their aquifers were running dry.
So they buy or own large farms in other countries like the US, and then export the produce back to Saudi. This may work currently, but unless the world learns to manage water and pollution more efficiently it will become a problem.
China already bought water in Australia. Seems like 10.8% of it.
Beautiful sound!
Construction of dams is actually good. Hope this happens in Tamil Nadu. We see many rivers dry all round the year :(

Hording water + heavy rainfall = floods, taste of your own medicine
@@melonusk6120 right now they have twice the water coming in as is going out.
@@melonusk6120 We understand this, but the Chinese don't. They topped off most of their dams this year before the start of the heavy rain season. They did not take into account evaporation of water into the atmosphere from so many new dams. This contributed on top of what was already the heaviest rainfall they have seen in 100 years and to the major flooding they have been experiencing lately. Their dams are at full open and still flooding.

Years ago, when I was in college, I took a World Economic Geography class. During this class we determined that the next Great War would be over resources not territory, and said war would be with China. Decades later, here we are at the precipices of Global conflict with China, over resources.
You studied Geo under an astrologer?
@@sjegannath6295 No, some of us utilize things such as social trends, economics, long standing political policies, cultural influence, history, and the advancement of technology to formulate likely outcomes; the Class was titled World Economic Geography... doesn't leave a whole lot of room for misinterpretation.
Your question signifies a profound degree of ineptitude. And, as a derogatory comment, is a complete fail.
Curious as to what separated India from China in your class discussion if the conclusion is that the war would be over resources vs territory.
@@thevan4476 This may be long... but it's heavily abbreviated.
There were various things we researched as unrelated specifics, then overlaid them as to see how they impacted one-another.
For instance, factors associated with government policy and population in China:
At that time China was starting to allow foreign investors to set up shop and there was an emerging middle-class. Because of their size and the untapped potential of investment, thus converting to never before realized earning potential for Chinese citizens, the new demand for material goods would dwarf anything we've ever seen, far beyond that of the United States.
Because of the same trend, for the first time, automobiles were attainable by an untapped demographic. Again, the potential being greater in sales numbers than in any other nation.
Political atmosphere in the United States:
In the United States, (political views aside) numerous policy changes have taken place. When said policy changes were looked at on a bar graph with time as a primary factor... over the past 30 years, the Unites States has instituted numerous Socialist oriented initiatives... for whatever reasons, regardless of what may be cited by any side or group with an agenda, the Government has enabled and encouraged citizens to become dependent upon the system. While at the same time, we have been loosing, often choosing to give up various elements of our Freedom and numerous Liberties.
When we compared all the related data associated with GDP, Social Policies, Social Trends, Economics, and so forth. What we could clearly see was that China, regardless of their Government policies, was slowly becoming a bit more Capitalistic, more people were beginning to have an expendable income. While the US, regardless of social class structure, was slowly becoming a bit more Socialistic, more people were opting for dependence, rather than self reliance. There was a lot more to it on both ends, however, this is a fragment for each nation and in varying respects... all areas were covered for both nations.
With clearly defined trends, our projections were that, over a 20 year period, the two nations would eventually come to an impasse in relation to the demand for resources to maintain growth and to satisfy their respective populations.
We also determined, based on various policy changes and social trends, that the United States would start to loose ground in the world market due to the strain from being utilized by the UN as the World Police, among other things. And, that if we go to war, the battle ground would most likely be on the Continent of Africa, and in direct relation to the acquisition of resources, regardless the stated motive or reason.
Brian Fidler But aren’t those forces also at play in India? Doesn’t India’s (population of over 1 billion) growing middle class also put pressure on the Indian govt to find resources and put them on a future conflict with the US. Or is it only a time matter that China is going first and India will follow?
We'll get dam building material along with the bramhaputra..if ever there is a mishap in China.

I don’t know if the geography of the down stream countries could support this concept but if dams could be built in the down stream countries across the four rivers, then pressure could likewise be exerted back upstream on the CCP. “If you cause a drought in the dry season then we will block outflow in the rainy season to cause flooding in the CCP down stream infrastructure. Additionally the non CCP dams would provide a lower reservoir and hydroelectric generation. If this philosophy were applied in a coordinated manner between all the 14 down stream countries affecting all four rivers considerable pressure could be exerted back upon the CCP.
The “tit for tat” approach between the countries would encourage mutually beneficial cooperation because not playing fairly would lead to hydrological consequences without resorting to a kinetic war.
The only questions to be asked are: Engineering feasibility?, Cost vs benefits?, Cooperative agreement possible between the effected countries?.
And the money to build so many dams for that tactics to be effective? We are talking about some of the poorest countries in the world.
