I'm Catherine Hardwicke, the director. We finally got up and running, so now I can show you some of the crazy cool things that have been happening on the set.
Everybody here in Portland is working hard to make Stephenie Meyer's delicious book come ALIVE.
Here's a video from our early days on the stage. We had to shoot the most difficult set Week One -- the ballet studio -- with 360 degrees of mirror walls, raging fires, floor-demolishing stunts and vampire dismemberment. Nothing like getting the hard part out of the way first...

I don't know why but I started laughing when they said cut and the fire just went out... I mean the fire looked wild and like it couldn't be controlled but then poof! it went out... Sorry, This looks awesome!!!
I saw this so long ago and i'll say now what said then, So Excited! Cathrine is so great, quriky, and fun, it is just that kind director that we need for this flim.

lol i love watching the "Making of" parts of movies there amusing.
OMG! Edward is attacking a pillow! And, when James was er, stroking her chin: Her looking away... and acting all freaked out... was not a good idea... And, did you see James's face when he smashed Edward against the wall? It was, so weird. And, vampires clawing at the remains of James... was a little weird too. BUT, I LOVE THE WAY THIS MOVIE IS BEING MADE AND I THINK THAT IT WILL TURN OUT EXCELLENTE! I LOVE TWILIGHT!
I think it's because, since the book was in Bella's perspective, we missed out on all the awesome action. It's nice to see what went on while she was out of it. :)
I can't take that first jump Edwards does serious xD

In the real scene its freaking scary o.O
you know how almost all the critics were like, "er, yeah this movie didn't really come up to scratch."

i just love the movie and i can't wait for the next movie. i read all the books and i was hoping it would never end. i hope you guys don't change any of the actors in the movies that are yet to come. please keep them the same.

The fire happened while Bella blacked out. Renee told her in the hospital that someone burned the ballet studio down. Since Twilight is in Bella's point of view, we don't see the Cullens burning the place down.
I bought the first book and there was no hint about a continuation,also no adverds at all... after finishing the book I had thought: oh well, an open ending, suppose we will never knew. but thanks to you guys i just read the first chapter of edwards version in midnight sun and I am going to buy the other 2 now ;-)
I have the book... all the books and I don't remember then dancing around. I remember them burning vampire bits of no dancing.

i loved the book , and hopefully ill love the film just as much , or more . but the film is different then what i imagined the story to be in my mind . still , i think the movie will be great =] so excited !
I *am* admittedly going to miss all those things, but hopefully they know what they're doing.

I totally agree! What is up with that crazy fire dance? That was kind of stupid ,BUT I loved it the rest of it! I CAN'T WAIT TILL THE MOVIE! OMG!

I agree, I think first of all her facial expressions make it seem like she is always scared of something and I dont think Bella is like that.

Hey, the director of this! I hate to come out and admit it, but I am problay the first male, straight, fan of Twilight, at least through watching the movie, and am one of many fans of Kristen Stewart, aka Bella.:)
whats up with the dancing around the fire I mean they can burn James in all but..that was a little weird. The "Ahhhhh!" when edward jumped was awesome. That sent me into a frenzy!

the fire was there when they burned james in the book.. when she asked if she smelt gasoline.. but in the movie its not from her point of view right.. its like omnipresent so they have to add stuff that stephanie didnt put in there to have it make sense.. like someone actually starting the fire that was present in the book, if you reread that last part you'll see it =)
i hope the movie matches the book as much as possible
Well sometimes, they can't keep some stuff in the movies that they had in the book.
But don't forget that they have also added stuff into it that could (very highly doubt it, though..the books were all awesome.) make it better than the book!
I think it's best to judge AFTER we've seen it, huh?
what do you mean with 3rd book? I read the german version and there was only one book? are there more parts?

i just finished the sreies today it was prolly the best series ive read other then harry potter. now i have no life

I thought it was a dance room, I thought the walls were mirrors and the golder bar was the bar to hold to. It looks like a expedition center XD
the director seems so nice.
they didnt SAY it in the book, but after bella wakes up edward tells her that alice and emmet 'took care of him' and now james is dead. something like that. and the building got burned down too.

ahh so they're showing him getting burned. but yeah, i guess the dance studio would be too small for what they want? plus the smoky light effect is pretty cool.
Okay what I am about to say, is common sense to Twilight fans. When Bella in is the ballet studio and she blacks out, during that time, the others destroy James. When she wakes up she asked Edward, "what is that smell?" (other something to that nature). It was gasoline. They burned James and the ballet studio down.
And I love the diversity in races in the movie.

I wish they'd stayed closer to the actual book...it sucks the way they did it.
Bella's perspective, like in the book, would have been SO much better.
What's with the fire?
I understand they had to burn the vampire parts, but why did they emphasize it so much? The emphasis should have been on Edward hovering over and trying to revive Bella.

yeah i dont get the dancing around the fire either..but in the book when bella went to that beach with the group and they started the fire it turned a wierd color.I hope i answered your Q.

See its going to look like that first because it has not been edited and what ever else they do with movies but after its all finished I bet that it will look more of what the book described. And by the way no fight scene is guna look completely graceful.
it could have happened, you never know. The book is from Bella's POV and she was kinda only half conscious...besides i LIKE the part where Alice rips off someone's head by the fire
So I'm guessing that meant it happened after she passed out, so it couldn't have been in the books, right?
I still don't get what is with the dancing around the fire. It doesn't seem very Cullen-esque to me. and isn't the fire supposed to be a weird color-like purple or something like that? Maybe I'm just remembering what Stephenie said in Eclipse about burning the vampires wrong...
the movie is going to be way different then the book, it still looks good tho...the dance studio doesn't really look like a dance studio...i still can't wait till the movie comes out, but i wish it was more like the book but oh well

Im a little disappointed with the fight because in the book edward just gets James off of Bella, and Jasper and Emmett take care of James. But none the less it still looks good.
