In the beginning, I questioned the length of your videos and didn’t click on some because of it. Over time, I’ve come to appreciate the way you do your first impression reviews. You talk through your thought process and excitement as you unbox, which is so relatable because I love to analyze a shoe once it’s in my hands. Love the reviews and it’s awesome that you run so many miles and are able to give us your long-term thoughts as well. Keep it up!
being a little older.., Diadora had a clean tennis shoe when I was in junior high.., I didn’t wear diadora though until I started playing soccer.., amazing cleats . should be interesting seeing them take on the running shoes a bit more.
Hey man fellow Carolinian here and recent follower, am liking the videos and appreciate the info! One thing I struggle with, but I feel is a blind spot in most reviews, is how supportive or intrusive the arch height is. As I’m learning more about racers it seems it might be an issue in more than one of them. That info is super helpful!
It looks like a good shoe but I am not sure it is $300 good. It needs to offer far greater performance than some other established brands. Between this and Alphafly 3 or Endorphin Elite, I am more inclined to get AF3 or EE and still save a bit $.
NB SC Trainer 2 is now on sale for $144 and Saucony Endorphin Speed 3 for $135. You can get both for less than this shoe! So I'm curious to see if you feel the Diadora's performance can be justified for that price...
hahaha yeah well this definitely won't make you run twice as fast as those shoes. i answered that question around 20:00 in the video - but short answer is you're paying the $50 premium over the market race shoe standard of $250 for the brand cachet and styling. the performance so far has been on par with the top racers, so you'll still be getting that as well - but the main draw here is having some different than the mainstream options that looks nice. it's definitely pricy but for the right person (fashion forward, has the money to spend, wants one running shoe that can do everything well plus occasional races) it will make sense
Would you still recommend for heel striking? I noticed you mentioned that it felt better when landing midfoot/forefoot, but in italy it's sold at a huge discount at the moment.
I'm a natural heel striker and it feels great for me still. I get the most benefit when landing at the forefoot but it still works well for landing closer to the back. I would definitely get it if you can buy on a discount
Very nice-looking, and well-designed shoe. But cha-ching$! Is that the cost of partnering with Ducati? You'd think it would be a little lighter...like sub 8 oz.
Thanks! And yes it does. A lot of them don't but the TYR Valkyrie elite and new balance sc elite v4 have them as well - little bit of a trend we're seeing with these shoes going toward more stability (and weight)
it's only when you get up into the 2+ hours range that you can really get the real flavor of the shoe..after 1/2 marathon distance everything changes. .
oh interesting thanks for the heads up - what changed for you with the shoe after the half distance? i'm looking forward to taking it for a 20 mile run soon
@@supwell I find that almost all shoes are flat by the 8-9mi distance..a couple of the super shoes can go up into the 18-20mi distance by changing the insoles..so far only the hoka rocket x2 can keep going after that if I change the insoles and socks ..I have never used any shoe that works for a marathon non-stop..it only takes a minute or so to change insoles and socks but it is my best option to date..I just got the new hoka but haven't tried it yet..it's a possibility that the new alphafly V3 might have the chops..I have high arches and a forefoot striker so the metatarsal area is the the crucial area of a shoe ..from 5k up it is my #1 criteria for any shoe..
This is a little softer and you get more compression from the foam. This also felt a little more like a regular sneaker at walking and jogging paces. The stiff forefoot rocker on the TYR is more noticeable when running fast and in this one it's more about the bounce of the foam and snap of the plate in the forefoot. I've been enjoying both so far - will keep you updated as I get more miles in them
I wonder if some of these niche brands are building in more structure to their shoes because they're not competing for the Nike/Adidas customer. They might be targeting someone who wants something else. Having said that, $300 is steep when I could get the Endorphin Pro or Adios Pro much cheaper. I guess a cheap old guy like me isn't their target market either.
Maybe I'm wrong... I'm not saying it would personally justify the price for me, but if that's true... it would be one of the first things I'd want to know.
some of their shoes are made in italy but this one is made in china. most performance running shoes are made in either vietnam or china - i'm guessing they just don't have the expertise built up in italy to manage what's needed to build a legit racer at scale
Rolling into a park in a nice Jeep with a gram scale and waving around little ziplock baggies? Have fun explaining what a shoetuber is to the cops dude! lol
yowana you output so much fucking amazing content i don't know you do it on this insane upload schedule but i love it. thanks legend!

THANKS MAN!!! You are the first on youtube to really review this and not put out seemingly paid off opinions
you are very welcome! thanks chance

100% put those spare laces on the Cielo lol

Diadora used to have a line for tennis (perhaps still do), and in fact, had one with a similar colorway to this one back in the early 90's.

Enjoying your reviews and your website! Good stuff!
Thank you! 🙌🏽
Thanks I’ll pickup a pair

Hello, it s true to size between these shoes and others top shoes.. Endorphin pro 3, Vaporfly or hoka rocket x2.. You have The same size? Thanks

Nice vid! By the way ..where did you get those green jogger?! Thanks!!
They are the REI trail joggers! Christmas present courtesy of charli 🙌🏽
The Pro Evo is also only good for 26.2 miles. I hope other brands don’t move in that direction.

Great review. Looks like the shoe has a structured/stable heel counter which the other racing shoes don‘t have. Is my impression correct?
Thanks! And yes it does. A lot of them don't but the TYR Valkyrie elite and new balance sc elite v4 have them as well - little bit of a trend we're seeing with these shoes going toward more stability (and weight)
Got a HM end of April would the Gara be good option? Like to be different when standing on the starting line, my race pace between 6:30-7:20, thanks
Yes this is the perfect shoe for that pace range. Did a long run around that pace and they felt awesome

@@supwell Thanks so much! Loving the nature around you. I need to visit a friend in that region and explore trails.
Hi, do you thing it's good for 10km races?
Thanks!
Yes this would be a great racing shoe for any distance
@@supwell thanks!

yeah you are 100% right - they are not going after the Vaporfly buyer. They are competing on style, durability and comfort
Can you do a comparative between this and the viperflay 3
As far as the crazy price goes... aren't these made in Italy? That seems like a significant reason.
Maybe I'm wrong... I'm not saying it would personally justify the price for me, but if that's true... it would be one of the first things I'd want to know.

They are made in China. At the moment only the Atomo V7000 is made in Italy
Can the insole be removed.
Just checked for you - yes. It is glued down but I pulled lightly and it came off easily
Rolling into a park in a nice Jeep with a gram scale and waving around little ziplock baggies? Have fun explaining what a shoetuber is to the cops dude! lol
😂😂😂
Make sure to catch equal weight of rocks in both shoes.
hahaha i really hope brands can find another way to save weight soon - i catch something nearly every time i run in a plated shoe these days
Hee-hee
