Around 1990 or so then I was in 8th or 9th grade I walked into my malls record store with 20 bucks. I wanted to hear something new and exciting. I chose 2 tapes of bands I had never heard before. One was the Descendants and one was the Dead Milkmen. More than 25 years later I still love both bands.
Looking for Dead Milkmen cassettes back around the same time, i always came across the name Dead Kennedys. Bought a cassette to check them out, and just like you, i still love them, the DM, AND the Descendants. I always say, they don't make them like they used to!!!
So cool that these guys can still bang this out. I bought this record cause of this video. Reminds me of how old I am. They should tour this shit till they drop dead on stage. Go down swinging.
Me too, I dropped at the Mall and went straight to Camelot or Musicland to buy the tape,.. I specially love "Stuart", "I Walk The Thinnest Line", "Sri Lanka Sex Hotel" and "I Against Osbourne",.. and obviously "Punk Rock Girl". * Fun fact,.. MTV's VJ Adam Curry couldn't understand why "Punk Rock Girl" was still the number one requested video, I remember him shaking his head and complaining about it while presenting it.. 😂
My friend stole some cassettes from a car. One of them was Bucky Fellini. I looked at the songs and saw Nitro Burning Funny Car and took a listen. At sixteen my life was forever changed. Thank you DM.
If they sound this amazing after 30 years I would pay top dollar to see them live in another 20! I’ll be in my sixties and still throwing elbows in front of the stage! 🤘🏼🤘🏼🎸
I would go down to South St to the Bacchanal and see these guys every chance I could. Wild fun. One night I left the Bac and went to a McDonalds nearby. Place got held up while in was in there. Yay Philly!
This was the theme song to my freshman year of high school 89/90', I had a 2 song cassette with this song and I can't even remember what the other song was. It was a pink cover with a cartoon picture of a punk rock girl with a Mohawk. I later got everything up to Soul Rotation. I like that they still play it close to the original version.
Nice, I had the same cassette. The other side had excerpts from three songs, one of which was Ringo Buys a Rifle. I can't remember the other two. Good times!
The Eightiest Eighties song of them all! Had a crush on a Punk Rock Girl back in the day! Used to have may college radio station play it for me when I thought of her!
This is definitely the best cover of this song, as it actually pays tribute to how the song was originally played. They didn't erroneously try to turn it into a "punk" song 10/10
Hahah. I was wondering just the other day if you guys were still doing your thing. Underrated band, but a god damn essential one in my understanding of music. I can't even picture what 103.3 WPRB Princeton would've been without you.
WPRB was my go-to station for a good listen too! Student djs, lots of dead air, 'b' side music was often better, National Lampoon Radio Hour and tons of innovative music! Those were the days,,, don't you think or don't you?
For some odd reason this song takes me back to my youth like very few others. MTV was in its heyday and my eyes were just beginning to open to all that was possible. Now I’m 48 and wondering what the fuck is happening in the world. I long for the days of The Dead Milkmen and their Punk Rock Girl. I’m jumping on table and shouting anarchy! Somebody take me back.
I remember back in the day listening to The Dead Milkmen and The Butthole Surfers, after pounding some Schlitz and smoking a bowl with my best friends. I laughed so hard I was drooling on myself......Those were good times lol
I love how they are absolutely refusing to admit they got the lyrics wrong on someone else song and just rocking it to the end (unless it was intentional, in that case kudos boys)
99% of the people trying to cover this song simply fail at reproducing those original riffs. It's one of those ironic songs where it's about punk rock but it's not a punk song. Like how "We built this city on rock and roll" is decidedly not rock and roll...
If you ever wondered what happened to Punk Rock Girl 30 years later.... here is the follow up, same tune, different lyrics. ruclips.net/video/S-LBXhiToFc/видео.html

good choices.
Well done
oh yeah, the Descendants!!

2 great bands to discover at the perfect age. Me too.
God, we're old, now.
I was thinking the same thing
Yep, same here.....
Indeed.
Sigh
What a buzzkill. They look great. Sound great. We look great and sound great as well. We're the coolest generation ever. EVER I SAY!!!!
Don't remind me.
Grey beard, receding hairline, bad teeth, ear hair, diverticulitis... They remind me everyday.
Same voice! Hasn't aged. Amazing. So happy I came across this.
I woke up this morning and needed to listen to this song.
Me too there may be a special someone in my life rn and this song reminds me of them
Did you eat a bowl of cereal and sigh?
This song taught me the word "beau". Great word.
me too
A boyfriend or male admirer.
Funny thing is I believe Joe Jack is a gay as they come. Not sure that makes any difference, but there ya go!
I always thought he was saying “bell”
Me too
Dude!!!!!I am 15 again! Thank you

The original solo is awesome, but I really liked this new one too, cool!

I can't tell if you're joking or not, you do realize that this is not a cover and that they wrote and originated this song, right?

My favorite band of all time!
It's a tie for greatest band of all time. Dead Milkmen and Camper Van Beethoven are in first place together in my opinion.
