This program is so well done, heads above most other, the narrator keeps me mesmerized. I can't believe I live in the Minneapolis metro and never heard of this case. Creepy how a religious doctrine meant to make their sheep stay in the flock can turn some into wolves.
The doctrine didn't turn him in to a monster. He was always a monster. If he really believed the doctrine he wouldn't have done any of the things he did
Wow. That was an investigation and a half. Sadly it wasn't completed in time to save Amy's life. What a devious man. Thank you for the fantastic detailed research in all the cases you present.
I have too many years with true crime. I thought it was the husband from the beginning. But what a twisted story! I feel so sorry for son, Joe, and the grandparents.

There has nothing to do with Religion. This is a criminal trying to manipulate people in to feeling sorry for him. You were manipulated.....you took the hook
So sad, she didn't see what slept beside her. What a disgusting man to let his son find his mother dead. He has no love in his heart. This is sickening.

This was one case that the police let slip through the cracks. Always, they suspect the spouse as the most likely, but maybe due to the husband's position in his religion and the whole family's involvement with it, they let down their guard this time. When it was said that their church allows no divorce under any circumstances, that's when I suspected the husband as being behind it.
No it had to do with religions blinding spell of ignorance over people. Someone cheats they make a mistake they either move on or reconcile in a logical world, they dont order a hit over the dark web and murder their wife when it doesn't go through

Honestly. When they explained the darkweb thing to the couple, i wa thinking "totally the husband". How didnt the FBI check the family's digiral footprints?
It's actually a pretty fun series of obstacle courses. There are different obstacle courses for different age ranges, so if you're an adult you can still attend some "ninja warrior classes" lol

If someone ordered a hit on the hitman himself (i. e. a suicide), would the hitman execute it? And if not, why another person dying is OK but the hitman dying is not OK? Does he think his life has higher value? Isn't it a little bit selfish?

I’m angry. They absolutely could have stopped it if they investigated the husband immediately they way it is ALWAYS done.
For what reason though? He did nothing to warrant investigating him.
@@scratchking3205 Because husbands are always investigated first either as the most likely suspect or to eliminate him from the suspect list. I mean, come on, there's a pattern. Happened in my country again not 2 months ago !

Impeccable podcast!
Amy comes across as such a kind and warm person. I wish I could've known her. She sounds sweet. I feel for her parents, siblings and son. :(
Why didn’t they suspect the husband from the get go?
Exactly,it was my first thought,
Dude was an IT expert, his devices would have presented as totally clean during any initial investigation from the FBI, the Police had to do a deep dive, restoring fragmented data and sifting through all the backup data to actually uncover any evidence and the emails definitely did a good job of casting suspicion away from him.
Soon as they said the husband was a pastor, i knew he was guilty
I'm afraid I feel the same way.

He is a pathetic excuse for a human.

Who would make it so complicated? Not nearly as bright as he thought he was. Tracks everywhere!!
I suspected her husband. So sad. I’m sorry for her family.
This. Nearly made me vomit. Nice one Steven..set up a creepy alibi while you let Joe see his mum on the floor. Just get a fricking divorce
So sickening.
This is what extreme religion does to you. I don’t disagree with people being religious but don’t go the extreme route. Sad case.

This murder should have been prevented. I knew it was the husband within 10 minutes of the start of this podcast.
