I read your postings and bought all the parts to have a set up like you recommend. You are the god of painting. Painted eaves , didnt even use a grouund cloth, painted around the big windows without any masking or any cardoard. This setup is the way to go. Get on the ladder and get it done. Painted two walls in just over an hour including the eaves. Wont be using all of my extension poles and rac tips anymore. Thanks again for all the wisdom and common sense. I really appreciate people that know what they are doing. You are the Man....!!!!r
Finally got my setup... I’m running it on a titan gun right now with double filters I have yet to have a clog or spit from this deal those rac tips would have clogged a thousand times!!! This is the best way to spray.
Hi Palmer, little question for you i have a titan 440 and titan gun too, did you bought the flat tip (and other stuff) from Graco or Titan have equivalent. Ty
hello, very cool, virtually no overs spray. I wonder if the difference is just the pistol, if you can install one of that on my ailess machine and work perfectly? if so, can you tell me the name of this pistol or some website that sells it?

Hi Mike cool video ,question for you how to replace the needle on you gun because I have the same one and I don't know how to do it I will really appreciate your help ty buddy
would you recommend this set up to spray kitchen cabinets still mounted to the wall. I have a rental with old cabinets still in good shape but need doors and drawers and badly need painted. I am building the doors and drawers and want to paint everything gray. Right now it is not rented so I can do what ever I want but do want a really nice smooth finish.
Hi Mike, the hose, Goodyear/Continental, is an air hose. The fittings are different from the hose you showed in your rig video. I like a 3/8 hose but can't find any with the paint sprayer (female fittings). Was your hose bought on Amazon? Thanks
with the cone filter you dont need the white washer at the tip but you need it at the gun true. they have the 2 different sizes one that is flatter needs to be doubled one that is thicker is ok with one.
Alright I finally got this setup and your right, as long as you don't spray off a corner there is virtually no overspray. I did buy ff blowout tips but haven't tried them. 4 dollars and less overspray sure beats 40-50 dollars. Glad I saw your videos, Thanks Mike. My spray tip does not stick out past the housing, is that acceptable? It does seem to hold paint and I had to wipe it off if I didn't spray for a minute.
with the guard on it wont stick out past the housing. Make sure you spray straight at the wall too. less overspray from that no whipping set pressure just right and your off to the races.
Ok, so I ordered the non approved nut from paint sprayers unlimited and the tips stick out like they should. Haven't tried them yet, just to let people know. I assume the recessed tip housing is the osha approved ones!
Mike, have you ever tried or heard of a gun made by Ingersoll Rand under the ARO line of spray guns? It looks just like the Silver gun. I recently picked one up off eBay for $25 and the trigger is unbelievable. because It has the lightest and smoothest trigger I've ever felt on a spray gun, and the lock out lever is in the back (right where it should be). I've been using a Silver Plus gun for a few years and I love these guns, but it now is my backup since I bought the ARO.
Mike when you spray you seem to be closer to the object that your painting more then almost all the painters I see. I assume it helps with the over spray right? When you use a 515 the spray pattern looks way smaller. Is there a distance that you think is optimal? Thanks
can you provide the info on where you get this setup you have, looking to try it, looks pretty cool and more inexpensive, do they have spray fine tips?
Hi Mike, I just got my hands on a new Graco Flex Plus gun which apparently is almost the same as the Silver Plus sharing the same specs even the weight on Graco’s website. Do you know this gun and if in your opinion would it serve me the same? Thanks for all the knowledge you share with us!!!
It's the same shlt, what really matters is the cone filter set up (100mesh filter) so you don't have to turn off the machine... dismantle the freaking gun to clean the plug up when it happens like in case of Graco contractor gun/Wagner/titan guns
Hey mike i got my silver plus gun and cone filter flat tip everything exact same set up, even took the ugly orange guard off haha, but I noticed the gun doesn’t have a swivel between the hose and gun so I find it kinda harder on the wrist, why don’t u have a swivel Inbetween?
mikethepainter i know you use a whip hose and only Graco and about every 2 year cut them up and throw away I listen too you’re vids haha apparently the Graco dealers don’t have whip hoses hear only the 1/4“ hose I need a 3/16 I believe so i got a generic ones till I find a Graco, i found the partnumber I should just go and order it but unless u give the partnumber to the Graco dealer they don’t know what your talking about and just tell u they don’t carry it at least in Canada
Yea I dont know the part number It is a graco whip I use with no swivel. I have seen them fail and for that reason I dont use them plus added weight. There is pretty slim pickens in Canada for some reason. Every paint store I went to has limited amount of stuff. When Color your world was there they had some competition but now I think everything is Dulux. Paint is alright but they really have no equipment.
I’ve been loving this set up but just recently I’ve had a problem where paint is leaking out of where the cone filter housing and the gun screw together do you have any suggestions on how to fix this?
Thanks.I simply cant understand not using a whip.Im going to try this setup with my contractor gun.Ive used the silver guns with reverse tips and was constantly having clog ups so i stoped using that combo but they sure are Noticeably lighter when you are running alot of gallons. Thanks again,Matt in oregon.
Yea Oregon sweet lets hope some stuff floats over to Idaho. ha ha. might want to bust out the silver with the filter on it. Strain your paint with that set up and your golden. Especially if you are using a titan 440i wtih line filter. I have no line filters and no plug ups. and need to clean out my cone filter after 2-5 gallons. No biggie about 2 or 4 times a day.
I run a 50 mesh in my manifold filter after straining the paint and keep a paint lid with a hole cut in it for the pick up on my Speeflo 6900 XLT G/E and the flat tips go all day in eitherone of my Graco Plus or the Titan RX Pro guns with no problems.I can hook up all 4 of the Titan RX's and go all day with either the 15 to 19 tips depending on materialand no clogs with 50's in the guns and manifold.Whips are mandatory!
@@RoadKen53 thanks for the backup Ken Exactly what I do. they do have 3 levels of fine. I use the middle one not sure the sizes. just know by looking at it.
to be clear, if using a contractors gun or any other gun besides the silver plus which doesn't have a filter compartment you really dont need the mini filter right?
Andrew Elmer well the machine has a filter manifold plus the gun has another filter in the handle, if you strain your paint and have the filters in how in the world will you get a clog? so again the mini filter housing is unnecessary unless you're using a gun with no filter
yea for sure that keeps it from clogging up then you there is no need for a reversa tip. No plug ups or bang it on the ground if it does and that usually does the trick. but at that point ususlly the filter needs changing.
for OSHA it should be on but after a while depending on what material you use expeciall like sherwin A100 it will start to build up paint and drip. So like the ladder ropes I remove them myself.
@@mikethepainter thanks for the reply I just got my guard and o rings on the mail waiting for the tips, filters and housing to arrive so I can try this out .
Mike, quick question, I just set up my Silver Plus like yours. How does the orange spray guard come off? Seems like it’s pressed on. Channel locks and snap it off?
yea I hate those things I have one with a gard on it at all times in case a OSHA guy shows. But I rip those off with some pliers yea. they just colllect paint and cause drips. suppose to keep your hand from touching the spray but they dont.
mikethepainter I wouldn't advice someone who is asking how to remove the guard to go ahead and remove it, its there for a reason, you get paint injection and you will regreat you ever did that, as someone who has been painting for over 17 years I can say I feel safe enough to work without them. but I dont go out of my way to remove them. just stay safe

Just add an inline filter to a standard reversible tip guard. That will eliminate lost clogs people have with reversible tips. And in all honesty when you have the tip filter cones set up. There really is no need for the reversa tip think about it. If you don't have plug UPS why have a reversa tip?
well that x5 is way to small for me to use. it is only .25gpm. you really need a .5 gpm or larger rig to do a good job painting.
