I bought the walmart exclusive in clearence for $11.00. Best Masteroiece deal ever! Many of us are seekers freaks because these guys are based on the coolest fighter jet of all time, the F-15. And that thing in the tip is the radar.
I lucked out and got two Skywarps on clearance at Wal-Mart. I still have one of them, but I lost the other, along with MP Starscream, the first MP Prime, most of my figures from the first and second Bayformers, Animated, Classics/Universe 2.0, and Alternators in a wreck. I drive a truck for a living, and kept a lot of my figures on the truck to keep me occupied in my down time. Stupidly, I have quite a few of my figures on the truck with me now. I'm thinking I should probably leave them at home, but then life would just be incredibly boring.
Old SW did include stand, ark figure, missiles, & Megatron clip but actually not a mini Megatron. Of interest is the new SW Megatron is actually the MP-1 version & not the newer version that MP Soundwave got. The older 1 has all the details in the stock but was prone to break. Soundwave version had a straight tube for the stock. I bought the old 1 unopened a few months ago. I had my reasons, lol
I'm a sucker for realism and so for me, the older mold is more realistic and true to an F-15. I get the cartoon purists but, putting the lore aside for a moment, they are robots masquerading as real jets and so, the old mold is way more accurate for me. To the extent that I had a Takara MP07 in London and had to leave in a haste and left it at my friend's place 8 years ago. It's probably gone and lost now and I finally ordered another MP07 today. :)
I always loved sky warp..hes been my favorite seeker since my childhood, star scream being my second favorite And i must say that i love what takara did with this one, the purple color is perfect and the black is simply amazing, i love the fact that they didnt made him glossy black, and it fits perfectly with the purple I really love this figure, theres nothing negative to say about it beside the usual 200$ overprice...

Yeah , im just gonna keep my hasbro sw , I think I paid 80 bucks or so for him. I have the rest of the mp-11 seekers and he fits in just fine. Took me forever to get mp-11 starscream and he was worth the money. I dont wanna pay 200 bucks for skywarp again though.
That's where they get you..."this one is a bit better! It's got an extra flap...right here where you can't see it...that doesn't do anything...You know you have to have it... Loved the review Skully and the shoe reference was classic! LMAO. I love airplanes and jets so I've always been a seeker fanboy. I've wanted the "seekers" since I was a little boy but the family finance was very tight so I accepted the idea that I would never be able to own one. I never asked for one. FF 25 years later and now with a stable job, I stumble upon RUclips reviews of Masterpiece Starscream both Takara and TRU versions and saw how close they were to the cartoon version! Brought me back and I knew I had to have them. I'm willing to settle even for just the TRU versions so that's what I started collecting, including Sunstorm and Acid Storm. TRU at least come with missiles and stands! Hope they release a TRU version soon as he's the only one I don't have. BBTS has Ramjet as pre-order so I put in for that and started saving for it. Hope Takara has improved their QC by the time it's released. And yes the price hurts!!!
Were there ever any replacement feet parts for the old style seekers and igear jets that anybody is aware of? I had two of the wallmart ones and they came together in jet mode terribly. Top panel in jet mode will never come in tight and sticks out ugly. I see the same problem to a slightly smaller degree on the wallmart one here. Great video, thanks.
$100,- is a fair price for this MP, but $200,- is a bit much, but damn he looks great. What bugs me are the symbols on the wings, for cartoon accuracy they should be upside down in botmode.
I like the review you did. Very nice job as I do not have the Target release but did pick up the MP-11SW. Yeah he was expensive but he is a limited release Asia and not the US. Coronation Starscream is still available at TFS and BBTS but Skywarp is sold out at TFS as they offer free shipping. Also one draw back is none of them were sealed as they had to open them to insert the Chinese instruction sheet. Kind of a bummer there and the workers did not handle the boxes as well. Mine was not too bad, one little crease on the inside flap that you cannot see unless it is opened. But happy that I have all 3 original seekers in this updated mold...
excellent comparison.it's probably a moot piont at this stage but you could modify the old version to look like the new 1 by piping the leg kibble off and,using the new 1 as a guide, glue the leg kibble back on to the legs.I have seen it done and it is still fully transformable and that 1 simple mod makes the world of difference to the robot mode.
My biggest issue with the price is that the Starscream with the coronation accessories was also $200. You got a lot more accessories with Starscream and I'm still not sure that the price was warranted with that one. With Skywarp, we get less for the same price. Takara should have at least thrown in the stand and missiles to try to mitigate some of that cost. The thing is, they knew MP collectors have been waiting for this figure to complete their new mold seekers for forever and a day. They knew they could charge what they wanted and people were going to pay it because the demand was so high. If the situation was different, I never would have paid this much for another seeker mold, but as it is, I bought him and am happy that I have all three now. Now Takara needs to release official Coneheads.
I found my G1 starscream. It looks like it was in a vacuum. Not a single sticker is out of place. the Hologram still works and everythng. The plastic is yellowing at a different rate, but just barely.
Well thought out points I would like to pick this up to finish off my seeker collect but the $200 price point is hard to look past. Now that the Asia exclusive is back on preorder I may just do it.

Re-exploring this because the re-release today. Tempting but it would be easier to pick this up if I already had an MP-11 with the coronation set; he looks so precious.
MP11 isn't twice as nice.. Simply cause Wal-mart Jet/alt. mode G1 or not, is jus way "Cleaner" (even though it ain't got the awesome nose-cone stamp of Deceptive approval). Im digging the muted purple. & I gotta disagree wit him not being top-shelf, simply cause in Bot-mode Sky Warp the teleporter has arguably the Best color scheme in the entire Universe. I'd set him right next to HEGEMON Megatron (wonder how that would look).. --Thanx again, good comparison *absolutely thorough*!

something I have seen on so many reviews of these moulds, they all have double jointed knees!! of course, that can only really be taken advantage of using the stands, but it is there!
If i got any rendition of Skywarp, it's the Generations FOC Skywarp that i have, would be cool to get this, but can't find the time nor money to get him. :p
Just seeing this vid now. I so much wish that hasbro would deal with Wal-Mart again as opposed to TRU. When I got my 1st mold skywarp, I bought 3, because I found them at a Wal-Mart that had clearanced them to $30.
This mold is pre MP10 and is clunky, the chest doesn't lock in (which I find obnoxious) and has very limited articulation in the legs. This just isn't on par with the MP cars and the Takara price for these is insane for what you are getting. Also in my mind these fall short of the cartoon accuracy an MP should have. Something is off.

The seekers are better than the car bots to me. When I bought a Hasbro Sunstrom for $80 I was like wow I've been paying this for all those small cars. I pose them up on the stands & really like em. I had to watch videos to even learn they lack leg/waist movement. Funny how my seeker love blinded me. I'm not sure why but I picked on the cars more. Looking back I was a little rough on wheeljack. I feel like the size & paint job plus the stands is a superior presentation for $80 when u open a seeker. I do agree $200 for this SW is crazy wrong & no stand is garbage. I paid that for coronation SS, but I've got the other 4 i own for $80 each new (all Hasbro though.) Tak hasn't been impressing me much post wheeljack. If fanstoys nails perceptor & reflector they climb to #1 for me.

Since MP11-SW was pretty much a limited asia release, do you think that we'll eventually get an american release? I just got back into Transformers this year so I definitely missed out on him and it kills me to see this guy on ebay for $400+. I'm with you on the Walmart Skywarp, he looks good in jet mode, but I want one for bot mode and I don't know if I should just start saving up or pray for an american release.
Pricing on this thing sucks because it's a Hasbro Asia release. This Skywarp isn;t available in Japan unless they import it like we do in the US. Takara release masterpieces are much cheaper now is cause the JPY is so devalued compared to the USD now... Main reason why you can get the reissue MP prime so cheap.. remember when it was first released it was over 250? it's all exchange rates... Hasbro Asia releasing this is the only reason it's so expensive... which sucks..
Bobby Skullface L Yep MP Starscream reissue was a Hasbro Asia release. The only reason why people weren't complaining about it's price point at the time is cause the original MP11 was sold out everywhere when people realize how good it was and after market prices was $300-$400 in the aftermarket before this reissue. when MP-11 originally came out it was retailed at $160 I believe, it was only that expensive because the Yen was still very strong against the USD at the time
i gotta admit i'm a Skywarp fanboy lol. i've got the Takara release from a few years ago, i'll wait for this to come to Toys R Us and buy it then, i'm not paying £150, that's more than Magnus cost me.

Skywarp mysteriously grew on me out of nowhere. I suppose that is due to the lack of screen time /character development + the infamous animation error which stirred the never ending debate as to whether or not Unicron turned him into Cyclonus...but look at the names for the clue [Skywarp and Cyclonus literally mean the same thing - Jesus resurrecting transforming Christ c'mon kids how hard is this?] not the animation. And that's another thing: We want cartoon accuracy but for a good chunk of G1 the animators didn't care...who was the continuity supervisor on this show??? (checks IMDB cast & crew) no wonder, they didn't have one. I'm saying all that to say that I had to discover him on my own. So I'm surprised as to why the Takara version costs so much. He really isn't a popular figure. Assuming that Takara and Hasbro released the toylines simultaneously why did Hasbro intend to make their versions so lame? The pricing isn't justified. NECA does a much better job on accuracy at a more economical rate. I mean...whoa, It doesn't even come with a recording of Frank Welker's voice? ok, ok maybe that's a but much. I just bought the Takara version but I keep doubting as to whether or not I made a wise purchase. I wonder if GT is thinking about taking on more scale accurate version? However, the f-15s are so big that the seekers would be bigger than Optimus. *shrugs*.
I've been telling myself that I don't need MP Starscream, because I know if I get him I have to get Thundercracker and Skywarp with him. You can't have 1 without the other 2.
So I was killing myself waiting for the updated Skywarp, finally gave up and bought the Hasbro and heavily (yet amateurly) customized it, then two weeks after finishing it, the new Asia version was announced. That's my sad story, boo-hoo. So now i too have both and keep the Hasbro in jet mode. You're spot on, he's overpriced but damn near perfect. And now that new Thundercracker...

I'm thinking that the seller scammed me and all the other people that bought it.... For one, eBay took the listing off a few days after I bought it. Also they terminated the sellers account. The latest date that it was supposed to get here was yesterday and it never came :/. I'm hoping that it does come within the next few days.

Is the face sculpt on this different from the one on the coronation starscream mp 11? And does the upcoming thundercracker get his own face sculpt?

I live in A top 10 (or 12) US Metropolitan area; wit 4 Wal-mart's within 10-25mnts (pending Stop-lights), I go at least once A month & I've NEVER see anything MP. Hell I can't evn ever find A Decepticon outside Ledgends class, unless it's Rat-Trap or A LAME Movie Galvatron, or Starscream. WtF.

Since MP11-SW was pretty much a limited asia release, do you think that we'll eventually get an american release? I just got back into Transformers this year so I definitely missed out on him and it kills me to see this guy on ebay for $400+. I'm with you on the Walmart Skywarp, he looks good in jet mode, but I want one for bot mode and I don't know if I should just start saving up or pray for an american release.

Pricing on this thing sucks because it's a Hasbro Asia release. This Skywarp isn;t available in Japan unless they import it like we do in the US. Takara release masterpieces are much cheaper now is cause the JPY is so devalued compared to the USD now... Main reason why you can get the reissue MP prime so cheap.. remember when it was first released it was over 250? it's all exchange rates... Hasbro Asia releasing this is the only reason it's so expensive... which sucks..
Was starscream the same way? Because that has the same price point. Just so extreme of a price point.
Bobby Skullface L Yep MP Starscream reissue was a Hasbro Asia release. The only reason why people weren't complaining about it's price point at the time is cause the original MP11 was sold out everywhere when people realize how good it was and after market prices was $300-$400 in the aftermarket before this reissue. when MP-11 originally came out it was retailed at $160 I believe, it was only that expensive because the Yen was still very strong against the USD at the time

Look Mac, if you can joke about death why can't other people joke about "violent acts" take it easy. It's in regards to opinion. We all have them. Many feel like this is pricey, myself included, I still bought though, and it's still a great piece. Just saying its on the pricey side for the demographic it's aimed for. Skywarp mysteriously grew on me out of nowhere. I suppose that is due to the lack of screen time /character development + the infamous animation error which stirred the never ending debate as to whether or not Unicron turned him into Cyclonus...but look at the names for the clue [Skywarp and Cyclonus literally mean the same thing - Jesus resurrecting transforming Christ c'mon kids how hard is this?] not the animation. And that's another thing: We want cartoon accuracy but for a good chunk of G1 the animators didn't care...who was the continuity supervisor on this show??? (checks IMDB cast & crew) no wonder, they didn't have one. I'm saying all that to say that I had to discover him on my own. So I'm surprised as to why the Takara version costs so much. He really isn't a popular figure. Assuming that Takara and Hasbro released the toylines simultaneously why did Hasbro intend to make their versions so lame? The pricing isn't justified. NECA does a much better job on accuracy at a more economical rate. I mean...whoa, It doesn't even come with a recording of Frank Welker's voice? ok, ok maybe that's a but much. I just bought the Takara version but I keep doubting as to whether or not I made a wise purchase. I wonder if GT is thinking about taking on more scale accurate version? However, the f-15s are so big that the seekers would be bigger than Optimus. *shrugs*.

So I was killing myself waiting for the updated Skywarp, finally gave up and bought the Hasbro and heavily (yet amateurly) customized it, then two weeks after finishing it, the new Asia version was announced. That's my sad story, boo-hoo. So now i too have both and keep the Hasbro in jet mode. You're spot on, he's overpriced but damn near perfect.

$200!! That's a lot. I can pick up that Takara one in Japan for a bit over $100 usd shipped. Checked many other videos and seems KO's are of higher quality than Takara so I picked up a KBB version for $80 bucks shipped.

I'm thinking that the seller scammed me and all the other people that bought it.... For one, eBay took the listing off a few days after I bought it. Also they terminated the sellers account. The latest date that it was supposed to get here was yesterday and it never came :/. I'm hoping that it does come within the next few days.

There's a few down sides with those Toy's #1 those tail Fins sticking out the back legs #2 their floppy as hell #3 the Crimson Masterpiece they are real Masterpieces but your Toy's are not really Masterpieces in my humble opinion. With all do respect!!!
