What great video World Famous Horseshoe Curve would be a fun place to visit !
Very cool to see some big 'ol SD90's on the end of that first downhill train.
Those are SD90 chassis you see - they have been deranged of their original motor.
The last beasts on the curve were. SD80MACS / Conrail Cadillacs, but sadly there are now being scrapped.
Search the tube for "sd80Mac madness" to see a real monster coal train on this line. 45KHP.
Wow! Listen to that thing screaming through the countryside!😮
Nice CSX
Sure is!
Amazing videos jaw tooth keep up the good work
The Best Video in october...with amazing trains and new adventures through the American lands...
🇱🇷🚂😨😨😱😱😱♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
@edmundoramsesgalvanflores5898 you know it
Watch the trains on the hill was amazing
Thanks for watching!
I've seen the Horseshoe Curve on Virtual Railfan
Camera several times it is great place to see the
trains going by with the park there for people to
see them go by and great to see the dogs making
an appearance playing around,Thanks Jaw Tooth.
🤠🐕🦺🐈⬛🐎🐐🇺🇲
🚂🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🇺🇲💨
Fantastic Video!
🍀🌺🇮🇳🌺🍀
Ty!
When I visited in about 1989 I payed nothing to visit the park. It should not cost anything to walk up the steps. The only cost should be to ride the little vehicular. 12 dollars is a ridiculous amount to charge to visit a park. Most parks cost nothing. You can walk right in.
Makes me wanna just stick to virtual railfan
Yeah and they close at 5 pm.
The Horseshoe Curve is privately owned by the Railroad museum in Altoona, and by Norfolk Southern Corp. It costs money to maintain this site. It does not receive money from federal, state, or County. Therefore the fee.
The admission fee also gets you admission to the Railroaders Museum in Altoona.
Capitalism
Nice Video!
Thanks!
My father was a rail fan but never missed a teaching moment we always counted the cars in every train which I still do
Hey jaw tooth awesome location. Seeing the train in the distance at horseshoe curve reminds me of my mom's place. Trains there coming up the hills through the trees and mountains. Have a great railroad day 🚂🙋♀️
Sounds great! That is cool that your mom lives near the railroad
Thank you for another video from your trip to Horseshoe Curve 24 June 2023, Jaw Tooth! This was an amazing video with DPUs and manned helpers.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks for another great video.
A truly awesome feat of engineering. The bad guys in WW2 wanted it destroyed so badly, and it wouldn't surprise me if our strategic opponents have an eye out for the Horseshoe as well. Another fine video, JT - thank you!
Gracias por tu video, Señor Jaws. Have a nice day. RT sends, Puebla, México.
Saludos y gracias
Awesome record JT, such a beautiful place...
Norfolk Southern is my favorite company for sure, the livery is just amazing on those powerfull locomotives
The animals in the end is the cherry on top..you have a good and peaceful life, cheers!!
Last time I was there , which was back in the late 70s or early 80s, I was able to go all the way there for no money. I was great.
Love to have been there in the Pennsylvania days..still its exciting.
Those green Bay Line cars (hoppers/gondolas) were originally used for wood chip loading on the Bay Line (original reporting mark ASAB). I used to vacation in Panama City, Florida, and had seen them there.
I love fresh corn. I would be eating the corn a few times a week 👍🏼
That unique sound only a train can make, wheel flanges on curved track! Its really cool!
Good morning I enjoyed the video👍👍
Good morning!
Excellent catch, Brian, thank you.
I like all the trains from different rail companies, Brian, especially the Heritage Units too, thank you.
Many thanks!
The sound of screaming steel is ringing in my ears🚂👍
Hi JT, I never get tired watching the trains around the great horseshoe curve. The best railfan park but should be free to walk up the steps the train has been in maintenance a long time. N/S are my favourite trains. Friendly crews as well! Fab video JT. ❤😊
Totally agree. They should only charge if you are riding on the incline.
Thanks!@@FabianDiazTrainsTrucksNCars
There used to be an observation platform in Cresson, PA...not far from the Curve. And it's free - might want to look into that. No, it's not the Curve, but there's other stuff nearby - like nice bathrooms and food
Another Awesome video JawTooth
I wish it were that warm where I live
It's like maybe fifty degrees
You and me both!
Great catches and awesome video jaw tooth
Thank you very much!
This place is on my bucket list. Been through Altoona but never made it to the curve. Thanks.
Thanks for watching!
Mine also,I used to go past it on route 22 to Altoona pa for delivery freight
Awesome video
Thanks!
lovely to see the helpers in notch 8
Yeah, that was cool!
The hill is hard... and the descent fast at this ideal filming location. You need power to get up the hill... and good brakes to get down!
209 cars on the first train! WOW!!! Thanks again, man, for all the great video!
Glad you like them!
What a beautiful spot and perfect for train watchers .
Pity they don’t maintain it better, it has such awesome potential
Late to the video.I've been working my digs in Northern Ky. Thumbs up.
Thanks 👍Hope you see some trains there
Very nice video of 'The Curve', Jaw Tooth! Naturally, before the leaves come out in the spring, and after they drop in the autumn, the visibility is much better.
Always happy when you visit and video Pennsylvania (I'm a proud, full blooded native of Pennsylvania).
How about starting my golden years (I turned 65 on 9/24/23) the best way I can think of and give me a belated birthday "Shout Out"? [PLEASE!]
Sure, I will do that! I am working on a video right now
Awesome place--24/7 coverage on Virtual Railfan RUclips--DPUS get used often on the curve to help ascent and slow decline.
194 steps!
Nice ❤️ 👌 👍 place I like the tanker train 🚆 good size snake 🐍
Thanks for liking
@@JawTooth no problem
Hi have the best day
thanks and you too!
Thank you
Nice work
Thanks
Decent amount of Conrail on that first train.
My hometown!
I got rid of snakes in my yard by shoving sticks into all the holes i could find... it worked... haven't seen a snake in nine years.
Nice Video
The tall "gondolas" are probably wood chip cars.
Nice video I love horseshoe curve
JT, next visit you should stay at The Station Inn in Cresson. Sit on the porch and watch trains with other railfans. Talk with a REAL steam train engineer/owner Tom.
No TV's but real good home cooking for breakfast. Less cost too.
That would be cool! I have stayed there before. I loved it. When I stayed there I got to see a rail grinder go by at night. When I was there in June they didn't have any open rooms.
Bom dia🙏
Olá 😊
i'm going to be there in 2 weeks! doing a road trip from Ontario down to the Virginia's!
Cool tanker train! 😊😊😊❤❤
It sure is!
I can see why the coal train had two DPUs. That train was long!! They are one of my favorites too, JT. 😊😊😊❤❤❤
Good morning Jaw Tooth.
😊👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Now that was interesting I need to go visit there since I Love trains so much
Go for it!
Thanks for the info Brian. I am thinking of going to the Curve this month sometime.
Have fun!
Awesome place if you go up the line to when wingap there is what is left of a round house and the turn table great video thanks Brian
Cool, thanks
Hey Jaw Tooth-love your videos bro- All helpers are manned on HSC. They cut off at the top and run back light.
Cool, thanks
The oversized gons are old woodchip gons now hauling either trash or construction/demolition (C&D) debris. Some of the Class I RRs keep them around for MW/tie service.
What a job 😅
Great film. I'm going out trackside at harrisburg yard tomorrow today's to windy for me.
Awesome! I hope you get some good action. I love that area
@JawTooth I hope to meet with you at harrisburg yard been wanting to railfan with you for almost 8 years I don't drive so it would be nice seeing you in the area of harrisburg
Good morning JT . Another good video.
Good morning!
The CSX unit probably wanted to see the summit of the Alleghenies at some location other than Sand Patch. One can imagine all the items they have traveled here so for the oddity award today the former wood chip cars now earn their keep hauling demolition debris which includes new construction rubbish. HIRR is the Hainesville Industrial RR in that New Jersey namesake city. According to their website it is headed for subsidiary Creekside landfill near Toledo OH. Whatever the car loading the trains they makeup and the sounds they make certainly make for an experience for all who are present to witness it
A Drone on that first curve would have been nice!!!!
that would be cool!
Nice video !
Thanks for the visit
Merci beaucoup pour cette très belle vidéo et très bon week-end ! 👍
Merci beaucoup 👍
@@JawTooth 🖐🖐🙏🙏🙏🙏
The furnicular is still down? When I was there in July, it was on the verge of getting put back into service and was only awaiting an "inspection" after repairs were done.
If I had known you were there, I would have taken the 3 hour trip to swing by and say hi.
Six axles on the engines... heavy train.
Thank you JT for the info on Horseshoe Curve. A place we are determined to visit soon! As always, a great great video! As is each and every one. Awesome trains! Great to see the engineers interact with the folks watching and give a good wave.
The brakes on the downhill tank train sounded pretty “tanked”.
Nice long mixed freight. I liked the green gondolas! Great video JT! 😊😊😊❤❤❤
Thank you very much!
❤
Good Video Jawtooth
Thanks!
The first train had a DPU times 2 times 2.
Great to see you at the curve. I live like 2.5 hrs from there and visit once or twice a year. DPU ICU. JT rules.
Very cool!
First and I’m literally addicted with this channel
Thanks for being here so fast 😊🎉
@@JawTooth welcome
Great group of trains. Which doggy was barking at the chickens? Why are the white chickens so assertive? Thanks, Jaw Tooth.
hello jaw it's is randy and i like yours video is cool thanks friends randy
Hey, thanks
Awesome video, really interesting place to watch trains. But $12 just to get up there to watch them, I always thought it was a Park open to the public, I can see charging to use the lift, huh oh well.
Went up summer of 2022 and caught a BNSF in the old paint.
Knee high by the fourth of July... corn look good. super high.
Yes, thanks
Hi! Great video Brian! Have a nice weekend!
Thanks! You too!
@@JawTooth You're welcome and thanks!
You've had more rain this summer than we had in Virginia, our corn looks sad.
We usually get way too much rain. This year was just right. I will be in Goshen Virginia here one of these weekends to film 611. I couldn't go this weekend because of soccer
I bet it would be pretty at Horseshoe Curve with the leaves changing?
Friendly crews , horn salutes, manned helpers, and train variety, horseshoe curve has it all. Coal trains have always been my favorite growing up. Very nice JT.👍🏼😎🚂
Very cool!
Those bay line gondolas are really cool. I think they are woodchip hoppers?
Yes, they probably are
I spied some consecutively numbered tanker cars in a row, they must be pretty fresh to be in order still.
thanks for watching!
Your farm lookin' good. Must be recent video judging by the trees. Hope Loki is nicer to the horse than Chessie!
The container train was working hard for the length. 😊😊😊
Yes indeed!
Flange greasers please!!
Love the horse shoe!
Do you still have film from the train parade to upoad or did I miss Mrs. T's?
There is a battery plant in Kansas. It is using coal for their power. You can't make this up
Lol pretty cool 😂
Something may be not so different: did you ever came across this site on RUclips: Practical engineering: Why Are Rails Shaped Like That?
Awesome video with a horn salute and 2 dpu working hard on a empty coal train but wait there’s more 👍😎🇺🇸🚂👍
Thanks 👍
👍🇺🇲🤳🚂🚂🏃💨❤️
My parents brought me there in the 70s and we watched the parade of Penn Central geeps and old Alcos.
that was a great time to be there! You also got to see the cabooses
There's a place for all gods creatures... right next to the mashed potatoes and gravy. lol
I have never seen a snake at this location. I think those large gondolas are for wood chips.
