    I still use an old Sperry analog amprobe almost daily for testng current draw on compressors. I like to be able to see the needle swing because it's helpful in determining if a compressor is behaving normally during startup. Coincidentally, i also use a device called a line splitter fom Sears that allows me to see current draw without splitting open the power cord, which customers hated. Your homemade cheater cord is a genius idea as a money saver.

    Love the Rant. HAHAHAH
    Thanks Dave. 40 some Years ago when I got My 1st amp Clamp and Multimeter I did the same with a Power strip BUT I took the Ckt Breaker out so I had a Hole to bring the wires outside, put bullet connectors on the wires and with a Bullet splice so I could take the 2 ends and plug them into the Multi Meter .

    Cheers for the honesty about the idiot, made a similar lead when a Maintenance Manager in the Hotel and Leisure Industry. Oh buy that replacement lead now, well before it gets a possible supply and demand $2+ price increase at Christmas.! 🎄🤔🤭👍🇬🇧

    I have a cheater cord for when you want to work with 110 volts on a roof where there's only air conditioner condensers and you have clips that make a outlet for you if you clip three wires on. I'm sure you know exactly what I'm talking about but you don't see it much anymore today

      I figured as much. Much easier and safer than the other method with the ammeter and the plug half into the outlet.

    Great idea! I wish I'd thought of that. I didn't even think of using a modified extension cord.

      No money in repairs. 30 years ago one could earn a good living doing this work, but today you can't even make enough to go to dinner.

    As a RUclipsr, you You have to deal with the internet crackpot complainers, and i, being in business have to deal with the hateful fake reviews that i can't remove. As you said, the keyboard warriors who do this crap should know that they can be sued.

    • @12voltvids
      @12voltvids  13 дней назад

      Here is the thing. To sue someone they have to have assets that can be seized by the court to pay the settlement. If the person you are suing for example doesn't have the money to pay, they could go to jail but that's extremely unlikely. Also all someone has to do is declare bankruptcy and they are free and clear and you are holding the bag for court costs. Its much more difficult that many think. Sur you can sue and win, but collecting is a completely different matter. Back in 86 I was in a bad car accident. Other driver ran a stop and I t-boned him. He was driving an out of province registered vehicle. I was badly hurt, severe whiplash which stull bothers me today and it will for the rest of my life. Driver was living here but registered his car at old address in Manitoba. My great insurance repaired my car, over 9000 in damage and I got 1 year of physio to help with the constant pain that lasted about a year. I hired a lawyer to sue for pain and suffering. The other driver had no assets, was renting an apartment and was working at minimum wage job. Since he was living if province he was in breach of his policy so his insurance was canceled. I could have accepted what my insurance company offered but it was laughable so I hired a personal injury lawyer to go after the other guy. Lawyer takes a cut and guaranteed me he would get me more then what was offered. Even took the guy to court and won however the guy had nothing. Because his car was wrecked he "couldn't get to work" so he lost his job, then filed for bankruptcy which released him of any financial claim. Let's just say the lawyer got paid.

    Honestly couldn't figure out who the f takes 22 minutes to teach people to split a cord. Tried skipping through the video and quickly went back to listen him lose his shit. 😂😂😂😂

    • @12voltvids
      @12voltvids  15 дней назад +3

      Splitting the wire only took a couple minutes, but I did need to demo the various devices to check accuracy, and then of course test the GFI plug. The rant about the man child has been a long time coming. Everyone says ignore him he will go away. Well after 8 years of ignoring him, he hasn't gone away. I fully expect that he will go crying like a spoiled child to youtube that I have shown his email address and youtube will require me to remove it, because that is what he does.

      @@12voltvids Obviously it needed to be done. Glad I got to see it before the takedown then. Keep after it! I still prefer the hard plastic splitters made for it,
