Hello, I’m Joe - I’m a guitar player, singer-songwriter, producer, recording engineer and teacher!
On this channel you’ll find my original songs, covers and solo fingerstyle guitar arrangements. My favorite music doesn’t fit neatly in a box so you may hear me play folk, blues, jazz, & classic rock - you can call it what you want; I feel honored to speak this timeless language of melody, harmony & rhythm.
I was born on May 25th 1991 in Kempsey, NSW, Australia. Since 2010 I have been based in the US and currently live in the Rocky Mountains of Montana with my wife, Genevieve (who teaches illustration on RUclips!).
I play Maton acoustic guitars, made in Australia (just like me) and am very proud to have my own signature instrument, the JR Signature!

You sir, have what is known in China as "Kung Fu"! The mastery of an art through discipline, dedication, determination, and sheer bloody hard work! Excellent! Very few players truly have this. Guthrie Govan and Tommy Emmanuel do, and you are right on track behind them, and may surpass them one day if you keep at it with the same intensity. I've been playing for 50 years, and am well schooled in music; I recognize the genuine article when I see or hear it. Stay the course young man. Kung Fu indeed!

@@bencalebcgp Thank you kindly; truly appreciate the acumen. Yes, indeed, the phrase "Kung Fu", is not exclusive to the martial art, as is commonly thought. It is a descriptor of uncommon excellence; finding your calling and taking it to the highest level. Bakers are said to have Kung Fu in the quality of their bread, and scribes in the precision of their calligraphy, sword makers in the temperament of their steel, etc.
Mr. Robinson is well on the way to guitar "Kung Fu", and will probably join other famous distinctive Australian axe slingers, namely Gambale and Garsed.

Very beautiful melody and phrasing of course. It really shows off how touch and vibrato of each note communicates the emotion. But beside that is a tricky background rhythm in the simple chord structure, a syncopation skip that I’m finding surprisingly difficult to nail down. Thanks for bringing this old tune back, I’m really enjoying playing around with it

Incredibly Beautiful! I do appreciate the thousand upon thousands of hours you’ve spent practicing and playing to perfection. I wanted to go see you in person at the Fox Theater in North Platte in Feb - was so close, only 70 miles but I ended up getting sick ( I rarely get sick- so disappointing!) and couldn’t go. I hope you play this area again some time. I’ll be there if at all possible. Glad you have videos here anyway. K, I’m going to go put my feet up , close my eyes and listen to the replay. What’s ironic is that when I heard this on Patreon last week, I talked about the mastery of tone and technique you show in this song (in addition to a brilliant performance) and a few days later you released your tutorial on acoustic soloing and you spent a great deal of time discussing tone and technique! I felt that was the direction you’ve really been emphasizing in your releases lately! It’s really a beautiful rendition. I hope Mr. Santana sees this on RUclips. I bet you he’d give it a ❤️
