I need to know which one was positive and which ones are negative
Thank you!!! Finally someone cover this!!! I have a 2019!
Agreed! I’ve been searching!!!
yeah so this is awesome, and something i will never undertake myself. great job!
For anyone who doesn’t have a key set use scissors ✂️ open them and watch your “leathers” !! took me a minute but they worked
Hey provo, on the close left of the grommett you went thru is the main harness to the engine, there is a little nipple on it that the manual trans viewers can use! This video helped me with my 2020 gli, i uploaded a video showing where the grommett is for the manual trans vehicles!
Thank you my friend I was about to drill and seal a new hole
doing my install today and you just gave the answer to my only question thank you sir
What amp and sub are you using? And do you have an after market head unit?
@@briefdavid2256 no aftermarket head unit, i tapped directly into the rear door speaker wires and fed it to an LC2I. Im using 2 kicker 12 compvrs and an older sony amp. It works good but just know, i believe theres a voltage limit on the stock head unit so the bass is not as deep as i want it to be, still sounds awesome all these years later though.
Ive got this exact same set up and 1 8" sub in a ported box, this converter does wonders in my 2012 Kia sorento!! The clarity of this unit, makes my 8" sound a lot larger than what it is!! I love it!!
My girlfriend just bought a 2021 jetta and I'm most of the way through the install. I just don't see where you set up the remote wire. Unless you rigged it to the lighter socket. Most informative video none the less. Thank you for posting :)
With the lc2 you don't need to run a remote wire. Just a remote wire from lc2 to the amp. It turns on when the lc2 detects signal
I think they meant remote wire for the Amp
My 2021 jetta premium sel, sound super hot with the extra bass, I took the sound from the original spare tire subwoofer. This video help! Thanks 😊!
Did you get any errors for the start stop system after you put it in?
I have a 19 GLI and had considered doing something similar, was there a guide you use by chance?
Is that a beats audio system?
@@shmikey100yep, only included in se and sel i believe
Awesome instructional, very thorough. I added an amp & LC2i Pro with relative ease thanks to this vid!
I love that vw has mqb platform cause this is basically identical to the 2018 tiguan
That ground bolt in the back is not a Torx, it is called a triple-square.
yo thank you so much 🙏🏼🙏🏼 all i needed was the diagram i can’t find it anywhere!
Just bought a 19 Jetta! This is super helpful! Thanks!
I have a 2024 video definitely helped with taking dash apart and I definitely broke some plastic but thankfully where no one can see, but with the 2024 the wiring is totally different lmao
Same amp I've had for over a year. It's a really good amp.
you can run the power wire through the firewall with the power harness from factory. there's plenty of room
I'm pretty sure that seatbelt bracket is a triple square, I could be wrong but VW loves their triple square bits.
Very helpful and clean set up keep up the good work
I use to work on vw over engineered cars friggin difficult to work
Great vid but u should of ran a separate power cable and fuze for the lc2i and upgrade them rca 10/10❤
Super helpful video, added a LOC this weekend in my 2020. Boy, that silver dash piece was a nightmare to get off!
You can use a 45° pick for the radio keys
Wow. Awesome detailed description and clarity.
This is really good stuff. Not to mention the soothing voice...
I have a 2005 toyota tundra and even this helped me out. thanks bud
Can you tap into the rear speaker output inside the rear doors, right by the speakers? Those speaker cables end up there anyways. That would be a lot easier than taking the dash apart.
Take the b pillars off, unbolt the seatbelt. Looks like the rear speakers are white blue and blue white.
You can grab the speaker wire in the b pillar for the rears
What you mean?
GLI owners should use extra caution as to not harm their ambient lighting. Also, now that I see how easy the seat is to pull, I'm going to move my ground to the seat belt bolt. Thank you!
Oh man I didn’t even think about that. Thanks for your comment!
Thank you so much for the great video! Best one on RUclips for sure! 2020 GLI Autobahn!
This is a great video, but I’m not sure why you would not also switch out the crappy door speakers and the low amperage for them
Yikes! That Mk7 Jetta dash is a total PITA! Makes me grateful for my older Mk7 GTI layout; plus, the head unit is in the glovebox. Nice work, though!
Which converter did you use lc2i or schoshe?
Can I not just tap into the left/right rear door speakers at the b pillar rather than taking apart the whole dash?
By chance have you tried this route?
@@Thiswuan right?? I wanna know if it works I seriously don’t wanna take apart my dash
I tried it over the weekend it works took both b pillars out and i found the speaker wires Hooked it up and it worked the only thing im having trouble with is that im using a 2 channel converter instead of what he is using and it kinda makes a hummin noise might be my amp tho but it sounds great
@@luisparra9918 why both pillars? I have a mono amp can I just tap into one b-pillar?
@@someone28 yeah i went back i was having issues when i hooked it up on both i ended up just using one side and it works perfectly fine i ran wire from speaker harness but somehow polarity were fighting each other tried various things didnt work so i just hook it up to one side and its works no issues
Is there any way to use the line outs behind the rear speakers instead of having the remove the entire fascia?
Im an amateur audiophile and I work at a VW dealership and I love our cars but both the base 4 speaker and Beats upgraded system are horrible, honestly. I honestly feel like they just deleted tweeters from a 6 speaker setup because it sounds like the tweeter range is just MIA. Treble all the way up and it still sounds muffled.
The beats system has a harsh metallic sound and terrible hollow bass that makes the door panels rattle just turned up slightly. The only Jetta system i can tolerate is the GLI S system because it still has tweeters and no sub but sounds better than the aforementioned!
I have a 2020 gli s and it feels like halfway up it starts to sound ok but then it really won't get any louder.
Agreed, my 2020 jetta sel has the beats audio... Not impressed, needs different speakers and the wiring is a lil different on them, nobody has any info on them yet
I have the beats system in my GLI, also not a huge fan of it, have you came across any info since a year ago?
@@jordanlange5689same here, have you managed to upgrade them in any way?
Why go behind the unit when you can the signal at the speaker?
X2
I was going to comment that the rear speaker wires are available at...... The rear speakers. Hell no I am not breaking some of that dash maybe and not even changing head unit
Exactly! Makes no sense!
@@adamsnider1528 actually, the speakers use that kind of connector between the door and the frame, so it's harder to get the signal. I made this sub installation on two 2019 Polos, wich use similar systems to this. In the first installation, I got the signal at the rear doors frames, in the last one, I made the connection behind de multimedia central unit, which is located in the glove box, just like the Mk7 Golf. Both ways are valid. 😉
@@Thf.martins i meant actually at the speaker connection... Not in the door, not at the head unit, at the speaker. Where the wire ends. No digging around in the car
I'm trying to tap in from the back speakers which wires do I tap into
All my warning light came on
can you clarify which speaker wire you tapped.. you said Rear Right and Left.. both positives?? and where do they go on the LC2i? great vid! thanks
I have a arteon Im waiting for somebody to drop a video on it
Them dash clips weren't joking 😂😂 literally why im always hesitant to even tear down the interior want to just to clean better but is it worth the risk
How would you recommend hooking up the remote wire for the amp? From my understanding you had it ran from the LC2i to the amp?
If you have the GTO circuit enabled, just simply connect a wire from the remote out on the LC2i to the remote input on the amplifier.
Could you tell me what color the left rear speaker wire is ?
Thank you for this video! Do you happen to remember the size of the replacement bolt for the battery terminal?
5/16 probably.. whatever fits and is long enough really. It doesn't matter
absolutely amazing. thank you. will this work for a beats sub removal then this upgrade?
No it won't.... Well technically it will work but this video is relying on the speakers for its supply. With beats it not only has its own sub, the system has a 400w amp. I'm doing research to try to figure out how to do my own. I have a 2019 sel with beats and nothing I can find goes over this scenario.
@@fatguyalwayseatsdid you end up upgrading in any way? What about the door panel rattle on your font passenger side?
@@shmikey100 I went with a local shop. What door rattle?
Many people online complain about a door rattle on passenger side when volume is over 50, mine definitely has it.. so the shop removed the stock sub and you out your own with an amp and LOC? I will probably end up calling the local store and asking for advice
@@shmikey100 ahh I took my car in for warranty for the door rattle on both driver and passenger sides. They replaced the door panel on both. I haven’t evaluated the system set up yet just got it done. But I had all speakers replaced, including the sub. I’ll get back to you with PN’s when I am back home
So if I have the 2019 SEL can I tap into the back of the radio that is in the glove department like you did in your golf gti video??
thoughts on the best way to give a vw arteon a better sound--i have it all the way up and it isnt loud at all...
The power wire to the lc2i isn't protected, I'd put a smaller fuse in it. You don't want to start a fire.
do people run a fuse block into LC2i if connecting it's power directly from battery?
@@HugeGamma I hope so. This is from their web site. "The LC2i requires a +12V in order to run properly. For best results, the +12V should be provided by the battery via direct line or from a power distro-block. The preferred wire gauge for the connection is a 18 AWG, and a 1A fuse is recommended."
Just did my install with help from your video. I’ve got no power to the amp, I’m thinking maybe I’ve got a bad ground?
Gotta also bring a remote power from the radio, so the amp turns on when the radio turns on. Or you could just do what i did connect the power from the battery to both the remote power and the normal power. Then intall a switch somewhere and remember to turn the switch of when its not running because it will drain your battery.
Why in the world would you run the high level speaker wires tap ins all the way back to the rear of the radio? That is absolutely ridiculous and defeats the purpose of this high to low level input converter! First of all, he is adding a subwoofer amp so you would want the lowest possible frequency going in as most of the newer audio systems are set up so they don't have lower signals going to the main speakers, the lower signals only feed in to the rear channels or into a dedicated sub channel. 97% of the factory systems have three subs in the rear seat or trunk area. These liner output converters are made to make it easier and more convenient to add subs and amps to factory systems. If your factory system has a subwoofer then you would want to tap into those wires before or after the amp depending on how many watts is coming out of the factory amp. This guy ran an extra 20 feet of wire and caused at least an extra 2 hours of work taking that dashboard apart and in the end will hurt the sound on 2 levels, A) the extra length of wire gives it more opportunity to pick up unwanted distortion and B) may not have the low frequencies needed for the sub. Every single one of these we install gets trapped directly into the factory subwoofer wires or in to the rear deck speaker wires. the only time I tap in to speaker wires in the front of the car is if I'm adding a multi-channel amp and upgrading the other speakers.
I have a 19 Jetta GLI, and planned on using a LC6i to add an amp and sub. Eventually I plan to replace the doors and maybe add an amp for those as well. Are you suggesting that I can tap directly into the harness from the factory sub to hook up my LC6i?
The beats system has a 400w amp and sub in the trunk, can I follow steps in video and tap into sub wire instead? Would I leave the factory sub there and add my own amp/sub?
@@shmikey100I also have the crappy beats sub in my 2021 Jetta and need to know if I can tap into the rear wires already in the trunk, but have yet to find an answer
i see this comment after i followed his step by steps to install mine
i fused my remote wire to my fuse+ and my amp stays on 24/7 and i have to unplug it wvery time i turn the car off so it doesn’t kill my battery.
where did u tap in for remote?
Where is the remote wire lead from the stock radio harness .
Hello, I have a 2018 passat. I'm being told I need the lc7i .
I have the 8 speaker non fender , factory radio. Looking to add a 5 channel amp and sub with upgraded door speakers in the future .
An LC7i is a great choice for your install, unless you decided to go full DSP.
Can someone tell me the part number or where to purchase that positive terminal bolt that he replaced?
Did I message you never showed the subs?
what screws did you use to mount the amp? I'm in the same boat and need to figure that out and did you tap into the fuse for the remote switch? If so which one would you recommend. Appreciate the help
Can you tap into the speaker wire already in the back trunk so you don’t have to run wires back to the radio?
You can grab the wires in the pillar by the seat for the door speaker they will be twisted together. You can use just one side for both inputs of line level being that sub amps are mono
@@spoolnup18t so I don’t have to take apart the whole dash like this dude did?
@@nickcarlock3197 no sir
They should be the twisted pair
I have the 2013 version which is very similar, I heard I can tap into the rear Fender system sub and bridge the LC1i Speaker input does that sound right?
Do panels make noise after removing them ?
could you do a 2008 toyota prius and tips to add another battery in the back? I have everything ready but i cannot find a good video tut on how to connect everything. I have D4S 2800 Rms amp and kicker solo x L7x for my sub. Also i have Lc2i to convert my signal output but i went to a shop and they recommended a generic kicker Loc which idk which one to pick from. Thank you Please update me>!!
So you used RR and LR for the subwoofer, does that mean if I wanted to add a sub and speakers I could only add front speakers since theres only LF and RF available?
I have a 2021 and I can’t figure out what the colors are for the speaker wires
Does the LC2i provide more power for the front and rear speakers the way you have it hooked up in this video? In this video you have just a subwoofer hooked up, but you tapped into the front and rear speakers behind the radio? It seems like you should’ve tapped into the subwoofer output. Can you also tap into the rear right and left speaker door factory wires to the LC2i, And then power your subwoofer? Also, by adding a amplifier to the LC2i from the front and rear speakers and then by adding an amp, you’re increasing the power to the front and rear speakers?
Does the factory radio "see" that LOC as an additional 4 ohm load being wired in parallel to the existing 4 ohm speakers and putting a 2 ohm load on the factory radio?
Can you tap into rear speakers wires in the trunk instead of going to radio?
you could, but most jetta and passat vehicles with base level audio don't have speakers in the rear deck / trunk to tap into.
@@ProvoBeastAudio can’t you wire it in the b pillar and tap into the rear door?
@@nickcarlock3197 Sure can.
Are you not supposed to use the remote in to the amp ? Why use remote out ?
Quick question, do they have ANC noise canceling?.
How do you know what you should tune the lc2i output voltage to for the subs and then how much for the amp gain?
We used an smd-dd1 to set our gains. You want the highest output voltage from the lc2i so you can set your gains as low as possible on the amp for the best audio quality.
@@ProvoBeastAudio ahh okay so if I don’t have an smd should I set it to 4 volts to be safe with a multimeter for now on the lc2i? Also what track do I need to set both the lc2i and the amp?
You didn’t use any control knobs for the amp or lc2?
Can the AMP+ be connected to an amps remote line? Will that workm
Thank you! Awesome video that really helped me. Only issue I ran into is, my Check Air Bag light came on and wont go away. Any ideas?
How did you run the auto power wire?
It appears that they use this grommet position for wiring with the manual trans? Any ideas on another firewall access?
I have a video i made i just put my subs in
Ill upload it
Shows where the grommett is
On a 2021 jetta I have an lc7i with front and rear speakers tapped to keep the fader functional. Unfortunately one set of speakers that were tapped don’t appear to be getting the full signal and it sounds almost muffled or lacking. I just kept one signal on and disabled the fader on the kicker amp. I checked all channels of the amp and of the lc7i. The issue was recreated when swapping the speaker wire taps into the lc7i.
Is there a bad or treble attenuation to the rear speakers?
Did u try taking the top off of the lc7i and move the channel 2 "jumper switch" to "sum"? This way if there is bass/treb roll off on Chan 2 yet Chan 1 is good, this will equal Chan 2 out by summing the full signal to Chan 2. Not saying that's the answer but worth a shot
can't you just use rear speakers to tap in?
I tap into the rear speakers in the rear of the car when there is no factory amp. It doesn't matter if there's no factory amp if you're on one end of the wire or the other. On this particular car with that ridiculous dash removal process, the time it takes and the risk of breaking any of those stupid clips its not worth it. Tap into speakers in rear of car and much less work.
On cars with a factory amp is a different story, in that case you want to hook directly behind the radio so that you are grabbing signal BEFORE it passes into the factory amp. On base models I avoid this headache all the time.
Especially when the rear speakers are on the parcel shelf right below the rear window. Gives a good place to mount the LOC and nice, neat short wires. Also using wire T Taps are the easiest and fastest way without disturbing the factory wire much at all. It's also easily removable later. I never strip back the wire, make a hole in middle (risking breaking some strands) and wrap it around. I can get all 4 wire T Taps on in 30 seconds flat.
@@rxtuninginc8444 you make it sound so easy... ill pay you to do mine!
@rxtuninginc8444 so if I have the beats audio "upgrade" which includes 400w amp AND a sub in the trunk, I can follow steps in this video and tap at the head unit but what about the sub I want to replace?
Will the factory deck support better door speakers?
Yes use crutchfield to find ones that fit best and pick something with an "up to x watts rms" in the specs. I did this. And will give me the option to add an amp down the road.
I just added the kicker cs and they sound wonderful without an amp.

Do you have to run wires all the way to the back of the radio if you already have a factory subwoofer in the trunk. Can you just get the signal from the factory subwoofer?
No, there’s a harness already ran from the radio to the subwoofer, you just have to look at the wiring diagram to figure what is what and go from there, but if you’re using an amp set up you still have to run power wire from the battery and ground it somewhere. Having a factory sub makes the process easier because of that harness, you can just tap in to that. Unfortunately i have to do all of this in my 21 gti🗿
Did you have to cut the red wire for the battery ??
I got the 2021 Arteon, is the install similar as this?
any aftermarket radios for these 2019-2021 jettas?
What amp would you recommend for 2 12in kickers?
Depends on what you get lmao
Do you happen to know the size of the door speakers? Front and rear?
6.5" Front and back
Did you crimp the wire ferral? I can't find a tool to do that except like a $150 one.
You can just slide the ferrule in the slot and use the set screw to secure it. But seeing as you wrote this 2 mos ago, you probably already figured it out.

@@TheOneTurk mine doesn’t let me start the car
Is the speaker wire diagram looking at the connector from the front or the back side
Generally it's from the back (Wire side)
How did you hookup the remote wire
Can you run 2 12s in a jetta or do u need to buy a new alternator
speaker size is irrelevant - it's more about the amperage draw and power needs of the amplifier you are installing. Most healthy batteries and decent wiring / charging systems can support up to 1000w RMS without electrical upgrades.
What colers are the speaker wires you taped into
What wire would I tap into for a 12v source that only powers on with ignition? I don’t know which wire it would be. This would be for my blue wire that runs to my amp
There isn't any switched power behind the factory radio, so your next source would be either a power socked that is on switched power, or tapping into the fuse box, or use a line out converter that generates a remote turn on for you like this one: amzn.to/2T8oZqz
is the AMP+ connection where i would splice the remote wire from my amp? @17:01
What inline fuse did you use?
Why go all the way up to the radio when the same wires are at the Center post on both side going to the speakers. ?
i think it gets a better signal closer to HU
@@HugeGamma I do understand your train of though however next time do a resistance test at the HU & also at closer to the speakers the different won’t be noticeable. Remember time is money 💰 save. In most cases re & re HU takes more than an hour. Any way have your self a blessed new year
Does the lc2i come with a power and ground wire?
No, so i'd recommend picking up some 18 gauge wire.
@@ProvoBeastAudio thanks!
What is the height of your box?
Where are you located? Wanna do my Jetta?
Is the lc2i needed for this kind of setup? Or is to just improve the bass roll off?
It helps with bass rolloff, and if you have a factory amplified sound system (like the fender audio), it can take a higher power amplified signal input than most line out converters. If you don't have a factory amp, and don't care for any signal correction, any line out converter can do.
@@ProvoBeastAudio thank you so much for this video and the help. if running two amps, one for the door speakers and one for the subs, would I need two of these?
That’s a lot of work to just get to the radio
Could've used the rear speaker wires lol
Where is youtr store located?
There was absolutely nothing easy about what did... you could have got into the back B pillar and been done...
