that was a spot on description of steering by feeling the wind on the boat. There's not everybody that would get that. well done.
Thank you! Sailing can be a hard thing to explain at times. You can go over all the theory but the doing it takes some feeling.
We just bought a Telstar and have enjoyed watching your videos. You are doing all the leg work for us😊
That’s awesome! Congratulations! Drop me a message on instagram if you need any help!
Awesome video! Dan should donate that shirt and you can sew it on that white screecher sail.
That would be brilliant 😂
13:41 Recommend closing hatches when underway, especially forward facing ones.
I always do in anything spicy! Don’t want to forget to do that!
excellent vid. left me yearning for the sea.
Plenty more of this good stuff to come!
Nice sail. It must be nice to have the extra room especially outside, and the new ray marine stuff looked great 👍👍
The extra room is amazing! The gadgets will be good once I tune them in a bit!
A friend had a Telstar many years ago and sailed it from the Humber to Norway and back.
That sounds like an epic trip!!!
5:15 Meow!
😂
Well, that was great Alex with all the new gear and Dan sems to be having fun Good to see you with a Saling companion. Music was enjoyable 😎😎
Thanks Jeff! Was such a good day on the water playing with the new sails!!!
You could have shown the spitfire flying over 😊
You have a good ear! See them all the time in that anchorage so never occurs to me. Will have to next time!
Most impressive. She is impressive already. Fine tuning next. I like those solar panel mounts. I may tap you up for the file if I can.
Thank you! Always some fine tuning to make!
Great job guys 👍
Cheers!
Awesome!! Great to see her under sail.
Thanks Mark!!!
Flying along - looks like great fun.
Indeed it is great fun😁
Nice kite!!! I like the shade of blue on it. I was kind of surprised when you installed the cable glands for the solar that you did not use any sealant or gasket (looked like there was an old hole just above the port side install). Aren't you worried about rainwater ingress into the cockpit locker?
There is the gasket that comes with the kit but that extra screw hole will be sorted soon. It’s a wet locker so I’m not too worried about water ingress luckily. Thanks for watching Robert and I’m glad you like the kite!!!
Looks great Alex. Sailing a bit more level looks good and appeals to me too 😂
It’s a strange feeling for me compared to what I’m used to!!!
Nice video Alex! Your 3D printed solar panel mounts are legendary 😎
Which panels did you buy? Is it somehow possible to share the 3D mount data with your community?
Best regards, Felix
Thanks Felix! Panels can’t be found anymore so that renders the mount files useless unfortunately. Might try and sort something out though!
Noticed. the iPhone just sitting on the cockpit shelf. Maybe a phone holder from the 3D printer might be a useful project. Good to see you on the water again.👍🙂
Thanks David!!! 3D printer has so many uses!
Great channel!
Thank you!!!
you have a link to download the 3d print brackets?
@@JohnBraman413 I don’t but I will try to make one soon.
No sika flex under the cable mt?
It’s a wet locker and the mount has a gasket with it so no real need for it but any other situation then yes!
Interesting to see how you get on in RIR, what class do you enter as
Will be the island club multihull class. Just a fun day so not to worried about the proper racing class.
what's the top speed you've gotten motoring and for sailing?
@@JohnBraman413 motoring top end is 7kts and sailing was 13kts. Always faster to sail if you have the wind for it!
Hi, can u put a link for some of the stuff u use in the video? Like the solar panel or the paint u used. Because i'm restoring my little sail boat too and your videos are kinda helpfull
Thanks for watching! The solar panel is now discontinued. Drop me a message on instagram if you want to know about anything I use and I can send over the links!
Pearler!
Cheers 🍻
Time of year was this? It can't have been recently.
Bugger if you'd catch me swimming this time of year!😅
I think it was end of May potentially. Definitely a bit too cold at the moment!!!
@AlexGoesSailing yeah, May is still too cold for me. I lived in Spain for 20 years, and I wouldn't touch the Med until mid-July at the earliest! 🙈🤭
“Believe me my young friend, there is nothing - absolutely nothing - half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats.
Enjoy
I completely agree!!! 😁
Thumbs up anyone who likes the music..............why?
Why what? 🤔
Please can I have the file for the solar panel clamps
The file is a bit useless since I can’t find that same panel for sale anymore ☹️
tillerpilot - dont move it - needs to be 90 degrees to where it act on the tiller
Correct! I will be moving the pickup on the tiller too. Will all be hunky dory!
@@AlexGoesSailing my old tillerpilot had instructions for 48cm distance on the tiller from the point around which the tiller turns forward. So moving the pickup on the tiller backwards will be in conflict with this. It will require more force applied by the tillerpilot and the movement will have a bigger effect on the boat with the potential of bigger oscilations. (us germans always have to think of all the things that could go wrong - that's just how we are :-). I know its in the way of sitting on the side where the tillerpilot is mounted - but mounting it in a way that influences the function is also a problem. I'm just guessing you want to get rid of the block that's sticking up where one would sit even if there is no tillerpilot mounted. To do this I rather recommend getting a metal "holder" that you can put into a recessed hole in the bench and this way it would not be in the way when the tillerpilot is not in use. Or get an extension (regular 3/8" plumbing equipment worked for mine) and put the mounting point out of the way of the bench farther outside - this does not interfere with the "load geometry" for which the tillerpilot was designed.
@@MarcusBehrens yeah they all have to be done to the correct distance. Mine was installed incorrectly unfortunately. It also sits on the opening hatch which can spring open with enough force! 😬
@@AlexGoesSailing yep, should not be installed on a hatch - over time the hinges of the hatch will feel it.
@@MarcusBehrens yeah they will. It’s also a pain when you have to open the hatch to get something. Always something to fix on a boat!
Where's the bird, did you set her free 😅
Did you not see all the birds flying around the boat! 😂
new intro?
Do I need to update it 🤔
No no, i just noticed that isn't the old boat anymore😁
@@SimonNordbjærg might update it in a month or two as I get into some cool footage from some big trips!!!
@@AlexGoesSailing cool, can't wait
