it's a shame they decided it was time for ash to go, it's no surprise that viewership is declining, especially because of how iconic he was and the fact that his goal of becoming a pokemon master, is coming to a close soon. definitely hoping that the new main characters live up to our standards ❤❤❤
Whenever Ash and pikachu make a return in the future anime or in another new series you know viewership will be high since the amount time that will pass by them being off screen. Can’t wait for that moment to arrive when their return happens.
Cameos at best most likely to happen. I really see Ash and pikachu coming back for an episode or two. It would most likely be an arc possibly a one hour special. Anything can happen.
Something tells me that Ash and Pikachu will probably return years later. They will probably return after two or three generations have passed, giving them both time to age a bit. The next time we may see Ash, he will probably be an adult and Pikachu will have grown as well. They will probably be facing new challenges now that they are older.
I just can't wait to see an adult Ash in the future. If he comes in as a mentor/fun uncle figure for the new protaganists, i'll be crying tears of joy.
They should have continued journeys So that the last 11 episodes would have been well known Also 11 episodes? I mean the anime viewership has been declining since it started practically, every season they lose like 10% of the audience and get like 5% back for the first episode of the next then it slowly leaves again
THANK YOU! Finally I see someone who gets that the anime already loses viewers anyway. It's a fact that inevitably happens for every form of media. Even Mario to an extent, whether or not you can accept that fact is up to you. And like I said a previous time, the times are different now. The long time fans have gotten older. It's time for a new protagonist that the new fans can look up to. That's where Liko and Roy can be placed. Ash leaving may result in the anime being destroyed but it was going to happen one day.
For my whole life, Ash going to every region doing the gym challenge and going into the Pokemon League tournament, now that Ash is the #1 trainer in the world, what else can he do, so I still want the gym challenge to be done in the Anime but I also want to see these mysteries done that is mentioned in the new show
I actually want the new anime to focus on one region. I did not play scarlet and violet so i want to see the reigion through the anime. I am exited to see the new pokemon.
Ash will be back as a main protagonist with a new goal or sentiment. The new series will probably go on for around 1-2 years and if it does not reach the scope of audience that ash and pikachu brought in, then we’ll see our boy Ash to save the day. There’s a reason why he’s not being aged up. No time skip. And no I don’t believe that he’ll be back ONLY for movies and special appearances. He’ll be the main protagonist again. Personally for me, I won’t be watching the Anime until I hear about Ash again.

However, I will watch the new anime here and there but it’s going to be hard watching it and not thinking about Ash since I grew up solely associating Pokémon to him and Pikachu.

Hence they are keeping him 10 forever to use his character again. He’ll be back for sure.

I have been watching Pokemon since 2000, and this is the best decision that Pokemon Company has made since Ash winning in Alola Pokemon League. You probably forgot how anime writers poor decision making was for Ash in generations 1-6 were he has lost every major Pokemon League tournament.
I gonna miss Ash, honestly I feel like pokémon fans wouldn't stop watching if there was a new protagonist who woke up late in pallet town just like Ash and got a different starter and ended up meeting Ash and battling him
The original mistake was the "traveling around the world/region all to go back to one spot" decision from the anime. It just doesnt fit pokemon. I still blame sun and moon for this. The last 2 anime series for gen 7 & gen 8 ruined the "adventure" aspect the pokemon anime was known for. Not only that but it's going to be a mistake naming the new protagonist Liko. An easy way to not have caused any more controversy for the anime wouldve been simple, name her Rika, like rica matsumoto ashs 20 year+ sub voice in japan. Its not just the anime, but pokemon itself as a brand or franchise is loosing its magic by straying to far away from what made it special. Theres just no thought going into this anymore. Still havent been able to beat S/V bc of the bugs & glitches. This whole generation 9 is nothing but rushed.

@@spinotikus1518 yo! I just got this. From my understanding Yo-kai watch had a higher viewership because it was considered something "new" & rivaled pokemon before yo-kai watch heavily fell off. I mean I love XY games & the series alike don't get my wrong, but it was definitely a better written series and was more consistent than the series' that followed. It's just like the situation with the games, sun & moon are considered to be one of the slowest paced games in the franchise. They tried something new that disrupted the formula & seems like they didn't know where to take it after it launched. I enjoyed them when they first came out but replaying them is boring asf. X&Y for example, games although incomplete due to the 2011 japan tsunami, still have great replay ability. Same thing with the anime. It's easier to rewatch X&Y or Diamond & Pearl compared to sun and moon due to the pacing or so called adventure
It's so sad to see the anime getting hate and people are leaving. I'm actually wondering how the new anime series of Gen 9 will play out too, because I do like how it's going, and the preview showed it to be great, but the anime could decline worse if this continues. People already started hating journeys series with Goh at the time and now this could make things worse. I mean, we're only 3 episodes left of Ash, and even the Team Rockets episode this week maybe their last too!!! We might not even get any new movies or special episodes of Ash and Pikachu and I've been feeling sad since I heard about Team Rocket maybe ending because I love them as much as Ash and Pikachu. All I have to say is that the casting is stacked. Most of the casting choices worked in the Pokemon Movies, Sun & Moon and XYZ. Then you have the script overviewer which is the guy who decides if the script is good worked in Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo. Sound director worked in a lot of Pokemon animes, also worked in My Hero Academia and Kuroku no Basket. And the music composer is a good one too cuz he made the music for Pokemon Journeys, Pokemon Hisuian Snow, Pokemon Twilight Wings, Yugioh Zexal and Hetalia. The cast is stacked

It really isn't, the show will always be targeted towards a younger audience, who will see these new protagonists the same way we saw Ash, if anything, this is a good way to revitalize the series, since its been declining in viewership ever since XYZ, 7 years ago, the casting for this series looks good, the new protags look good, the pokemon anime is not going anywhere
I think this is a good thing. Let the old fans leave, so the anime writers do what they can to rebuild the fanbase. For the last 10+ yrs Ash's character has been all over the place. Now the writers have to actually do the work instead of depending on nostalgia for views.

Just want to say. Even though Ash is in Pokémon Journeys, the plot of Pokémon Journeys really destroyed the viewership. Now Ash Journey's is at the end, and new characters can kick in well. If the anime is still bad in quality, the viewership will continue to decline even as Ash is present! Also, I can imagine how many fans in the world would be very pissed if Ash ever came back to Pokémon as a main protagonist except in the movies.
If the stry is a mixture if the manga and games we can expect a high tier story if they add some good animations too then the era of ash is really gone its time for a new adventure
The casting for the new series seems good. Idk about the main director tho, the main director is Saori Den her only work is Mirage Queen Prefer Circus so idk about her. Then you have as creative director Daiki Tomiyasu (Pokemon Sun & Moon, Aim to be a Pokemon Master), as the series script overviewer which is the person who will decide if the script is good or not you have Dai Sato ( Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo, Eureka Seven, Wolf's Rain) so definitely a good asset for the script writing. For the action direction you have Tetsuo Yajima ( Pokemon The Movie : Secrets of the Jungle ,Pokemon The Movie : Power of US, Pokemon Mewtwo Counter Attacks, Pokemon XYZ the best episodes of it and Pokemon Sun & Moon Ultra Legends the best animated episodes of it as well ). As character designer you have Rei Yamazaki ( Pokemon Evolutions, Pokemon Movie : Power of Us, Pokemon Movie : I Choose You) and Kyoko Ito. Masafumi Ita as sound director (Pokemon Evolutions, Pokemon Movies worked in most of them , Pokemon Masters yes the game, Pokemon 1997 - 2017, Kuroku no Basket,. My Hero Academia, etc.) he worked in a lot of stuff. And finally Conisch is composing the music (Hetalia, Yugioh Zexal,Recovery of an MMO Junkie, Pokemon Journeys, Pokemon Hisuain Snow, Pokemon Twilight Wings)
I be as respectful as possible with my statement. I'd say it's pretty sad how fans/views only see Ash as a reason to stay committed to the anime. To me it just shows that people don't like changes and would rather stick to nostalgia related content to stay interested. Ash wasn't even written well (IMO) because of how repetitive his story development was throughout the 25 years course of the series. If being a Pokemon Master was about having a close relationship with all Pokemon then making Ash focus on battling gyms and championships shouldn't have been the largest staple of the anime. The problem for me about the friendship and friendly competition writing in the anime, it really showed how limited the story ideas were and the only time it made sense was in the movies to be honest. Overall I'm glad they trying something new and I say fans need to stop crying and let go of Nostalgia.
Yes, THANK you! There was little to no character development for him outside of mayyyybe the first season? He and his unevolved rat just stayed the same this entire time, I'm surprised more people weren't sick of them. But like you said, people are cowards who don't like change--even when it's for the better.
It's more so how they executed it. If they incorporated characters and tied up loose ends alot better, ash leaving wouldn't take such a big hit. I'm predicting they masterchief him. If the next few seasons flop, they bring him back
All facts. At least fans of the games got tired of the gen 1 pandering. Now I wish fans of the anime act the same. And it's a perfect analogy that some fans call him the "mascot" of Pokemon because he pretty much represents what the franchise is now. Nostalgia pandering over something actually good. He's only kept around because of his popularity not story reasons. You can replace him with a different character in every season and the story will still work, with maybe a few changes. Same way that those "paradox pokemon" are just rehashes of old Pokemon and gen 1 pokemon keep getting favored over others.

I think it’s safe to say at this point that this video is a little outdated. A lot of us have seen the start of “Pokémon Horizons” and it is looking very good. I’m excited to see how the series is going to continue.
on of those veiwers that are gonna go is me, it has effected me a lot since ash and pikachu was something i watched since i was born, he stayed the same age as me until i was 10, now i just feel super depressed that he is gone since i know we might or might not see him more, i really hope the new characters are good for new generations, if he does come back then i would probably be the most happy person ever
Ash's story literally turned into a fan service the moment Goh (journey) started. Not only there are a lot of fillers, time skip, and fan favorite Pokemon being caught by Ash, Goh was pretty much a kind of a Mary Sue (Gary Stu for male). Remember when Goh caught Suicune? It's no wonder if people finds it incomplete, and hollow. Ash's victory seems like being given easily. But that's just how many Poketubers felt, I don't know about the majority of the watcher. Also about why Pokemon Anime content being dropped in number, might be caused by Sho Pro Copyright Strikes. Small channels are being targeted to take down their videos, despite they have a fair use policy. This, of course, can snowballed further making more and more viewers unappealed to the show, creating more harms to everyone else instead.
@@chrisclack4258 Thank you for the reply. There are probably a lot less filler episodes on Journey compared to the Sun and Moon arc. But it's still there, where Ash literally did nothing important, or Goh stealing all the spotlight. Mind you that Ash was supposed to be the main character and focus.

Honestly, Ash NOT being in the new series gives me more reason to watch it. I’ve felt for years that they should’ve moved on from Ash. I know I’m in a serious minority but I stopped liking Ash long ago. I rooted so much for the final to be Leon vs Cynthia knowing full well it wouldn’t happen.

It's also declining in the US too. For starters, The anime moved, again. It moved to Netflix, which isn't an bad choice, but I think that Nickelodeon wasn't even too interested, and local TV networks.... Yeah, the Children's Television Act isn't gonna let them have it. And when they do get it, they put the new episodes in "batches" every 2-3 months. Seriously, I would have watch all of them if they put new episodes in a week, but most Netflix kiddie shows just get new episodes every 2-3 months so it ain't gonna fit it. I stopped watching the anime in general after Sun & Moon, and I haven't seen an episode of Horizons yet, because it isn't gonna come until February. Speaking of Horizons, Netflix gets it! I wonder know why, maybe TPCi don't wanna repeat the move again because they are gonna lose a lot of their viewerbase if they did it again, but seriously. 6 new episodes every 2-3 months? I know it's for the first 6 episodes, but if they are gonna keep doing it, everyone is gonna watch the sub versions of the original Japanese versions because at least they air the new episodes weekly than here. Canada also does the same thing too! Basically, if the TPCi-Netflix deal ends, which isn't gonna be in like 1-2 years, then they could find an different distributor. Maybe Weigel Broadcasting could be interested in picking it up and air new episodes on MeTV, but from what I mentioned earlier about the local TV networks, they have to put some advertising restrictions when they air it

They are just too stubborn on status quo, and fear that any change will be bad for them. Besides The Pokemon Company would start losing viewers if younger viewers would have to watch over 1200 episodes to catch up on the Ash adventures. It would take around 1 month of constant watching anime alone for 5-6 hours every day, and not everyone can afford to waste so much time (I have watch entire One Piece episodes so this is why I know how long it will take).

When I found out regular Pokémon was coming to an end my nostalgic having ass started watching the whole series 15-20 episodes a day and right now I'm at ep 58 in journeys, I'm really sad ash isn't going to be the main character anymore. Something old timers like us have a hard time understanding is that is very difficult to like a character that old (Ash) if you are starting to watch Pokemon just nown which is something that was kinda addressed with Goh. You do not make sense of the developments of characters/Pokémon and lore, unless you played/watched since Gen 1.
Eh honestly, Ash leaving is a good thing to me. His character in the latest seasons is so poorly written. He's an awful Gary Stu and I hate this Ash. However, now we have Riko and Roy, and I hope that they will be properly written, unlike Ash, but I have my doubts and I don't get my hopes up too much for now.

Villains have the same thing happening to them. Try to steal Pokemon, gets sent flying, rinse and repeat. Its tropes are so outdated that it should have ended in the 90s that aged as a cult classic. And oh boy its fanbase. Trust me they accept no criticism and even worse, defend its flaws. I get it it's for kids and maybe I'll let my future kids watch it, but even then there are way better kids shows that are more recommendable.

Just watch the "Jamzs being the best character" videos for example and you'll see. And towards the fanbase, I agree, but there still are nice people out there that are also a part of this fanbase.
By making Liko or Rita his kid...it essentially keeps him in the anime as well as the viewers. She has his hair lol...and we all dreamed of a timeskip. Ash could retell his story of what he did after defeating Leon if needed be bringing him back as his 10 or 11 year old self in like a story to his daughter. If the new anime is a massive success then that won't be necessary as Liko and Roy are well enough to carry it on out. It was a long time coming, it was dying already loong ago since Johto. Shudo the original head writer hated how the series was formulaic and left the series forbonding with a comment how the formulaic episodes would bring an axe to the series. And since then the death of the series started, especially after BW flooped in Japan and started the budget cuts era during all of XY where they tried to save the situation only for it to not work especially after Ash loss against Alain. Then SM came and the series lost yet another good amount of viewership and then Journey with the second budget era coming in not just because of Covid. In Japan they hated Go and the series lost everything that made it charming to begin with. Ironically Journey ranked lower then BW in Japan which is an impressive feat. Honestly SM and JN feels more like the executive got pissed with the audience for not liking their product so they dragged Ash character in the mud with a series and an equal shitty pokemon League victory in Alola. Then it all went worst where the series still wasn't liked so they created more shit with Journey. And honestly I wouldn't be sorprised if that was the case, executives being bitter in having to give in using Ash as the tool they pleased bruteforced the anime in something it was never meant to be to just ruin it all together.

Once every few years (when a new game comes out) ash will move to a new region, never talk to his friends again, never use any of his Pokémon again, and goes from being a semi competent tactician to a compleat idiot. Simple logic: Pokémon was popular only because of ash and Pikachu and just letting them go like that was never a good choice. The Animation director worked in the most recent movies and in the best episodes of XYZ and Sun & Moon. The sound director worked in Pokemon since the beginning, he also worked in My Hero Academia and Kuroku no Basket. And the music composer worked in Hetalia, Yugioh Zexal, Pokemon Hisuian Snow, Pokemon Twilight Wings and Journeys.

If you ask me, Ash being a departure from the OG Pokemon Trainer, when even having a change in the art direction just so he could win a tournament, makes me sick to my stomach; so I lost interest because of this major change. Ash lifting his orange juice glass high: I would like to make a propose, my friends! To our new beginnings and to our much deserved freedom! Misty: Yes!! Now that our use on the Pokemon Anime is officially done we can enjoy each other's company way more! Pikachu: Pika! Pika! Brock looking to his smartphone: Um... guys.... I think the Pokemon franchise has a big problem... He then shows them Critical Drinker's first impressions of the new series with the title: "Pokemon At It's Worst!" C.D: My exprience with Pokemon is a really complicating one, like how I ended up with my wife. Things started pretty innocently with the Kanto, Orange Islands and the Johto region (at that point Ash, misty, Brock and Pikachu look each other with satisfaction.) They were light hearted, upbeat, funny and uplifting years when we were still young and optimistic people. But with Hoenn we started to get older and the excitement and fun started drastically to lower themselves. As the time went by our distance became bigger and bigger. But when we reached the Sinnoh region... We suddenly grew up!! We realised that we may be not kids anymore but we were old and mature enough to go on and settle our lives down. But suddenly... Black And White showed up and our relationship became aggresive and mean spirited. And just I thought that I was ready to move on from the toxic relationship... Along came Greninja and literally saved the day! But then we decided to go for vacations to the Sun and Moon and at the same time betray everything that poor bastard Greninja tried to make! But at one point we realized our mistakes and we tried to make up. And the results were... this! (He shows up Ash winning the Pokemon World Cup.) We... finally... did it! We finally got married and with Journeys and Master series we made our lives, found fine jobs and we made 2 wonderful children.
Honestly, I stopped watching the anime long before they planned to retire Ash, because I was sick to death of having him and his unevolved runt of a Pikachu shoved in my face constantly. I straight-up celebrated when I heard they were retiring him.

Something tells me that Ash and Pikachu will probably return years later. They will probably return after two or three generations have passed, giving them both time to age a bit. The next time we may see Ash, he will probably be an adult and Pikachu will have grown as well. They will probably be facing new challenges now that they are older.

Ash will be back as a main protagonist with a new goal or sentiment. The new series will probably go on for around 1-2 years and if it does not reach the scope of audience that ash and pikachu brought in, then we’ll see our boy Ash to save the day.

Ash is not getting a time skip. There’s a reason for this, otherwise if he was actually done they would age him and be done with his character forever. The original mistake was the "traveling around the world/region all to go back to one spot" decision from the anime. It just doesnt fit pokemon.
I still blame sun and moon for this. The last 2 anime series for gen 7 & gen 8 ruined the "adventure" aspect the pokemon anime was known for.
Not only that but it's going to be a mistake naming the new protagonist Liko. An easy way to not have caused any more controversy for the anime wouldve been simple, name her Rika, like rica matsumoto ashs 20 year+ sub voice in japan.
Its not just the anime, but pokemon itself as a brand or franchise is loosing its magic by straying to far away from what made it special. Theres just no thought going into this anymore. Still havent been able to beat S/V bc of the bugs & glitches. This whole generation 9 is nothing but rushed.

I mean I love XY games & the series alike don't get my wrong, but it was definitely a better written series and was more consistent than the series' that followed.
It's just like the situation with the games, sun & moon are considered to be one of the slowest paced games in the franchise. They tried something new that disrupted the formula & seems like they didn't know where to take it after it launched. I enjoyed them when they first came out but replaying them is boring asf.
X&Y for example, games although incomplete due to the 2011 japan tsunami, still have great replay ability. Same thing with the anime. It's easier to rewatch X&Y or Diamond & Pearl compared to sun and moon due to the pacing or so called adventure

Just want to say. Even though Ash is in Pokémon Journeys, the plot of Pokémon Journeys really destroyed the viewership. Now Ash Journey's is at the end, and new characters can kick in well. If the anime is still bad in quality, the viewership will continue to decline even as Ash is present! Also, I can imagine how many fans in the world would be very pissed if Ash ever came back to Pokémon as a main protagonist except in the movies.
If the stry is a mixture if the manga and games we can expect a high tier story if they add some good animations too then the era of ash is really gone its time for a new adventure
The casting for the new series seems good. Idk about the main director tho, the main director is Saori Den her only work is Mirage Queen Prefer Circus so idk about her. Then you have as creative director Daiki Tomiyasu (Pokemon Sun & Moon, Aim to be a Pokemon Master), as the series script overviewer which is the person who will decide if the script is good or not you have Dai Sato ( Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo, Eureka Seven, Wolf's Rain) so definitely a good asset for the script writing. For the action direction you have Tetsuo Yajima ( Pokemon The Movie : Secrets of the Jungle ,Pokemon The Movie : Power of US, Pokemon Mewtwo Counter Attacks, Pokemon XYZ the best episodes of it and Pokemon Sun & Moon Ultra Legends the best animated episodes of it as well ). As character designer you have Rei Yamazaki ( Pokemon Evolutions, Pokemon Movie : Power of Us, Pokemon Movie : I Choose You) and Kyoko Ito. Masafumi Ita as sound director (Pokemon Evolutions, Pokemon Movies worked in most of them , Pokemon Masters yes the game, Pokemon 1997 - 2017, Kuroku no Basket,. My Hero Academia, etc.) he worked in a lot of stuff. And finally Conisch is composing the music (Hetalia, Yugioh Zexal,Recovery of an MMO Junkie, Pokemon Journeys, Pokemon Hisuain Snow, Pokemon Twilight Wings)
I be as respectful as possible with my statement. I'd say it's pretty sad how fans/views only see Ash as a reason to stay committed to the anime. To me it just shows that people don't like changes and would rather stick to nostalgia related content to stay interested.
Ash wasn't even written well (IMO) because of how repetitive his story development was throughout the 25 years course of the series.
If being a Pokemon Master was about having a close relationship with all Pokemon then making Ash focus on battling gyms and championships shouldn't have been the largest staple of the anime.
The problem for me about the friendship and friendly competition writing in the anime, it really showed how limited the story ideas were and the only time it made sense was in the movies to be honest.
Overall I'm glad they trying something new and I say fans need to stop crying and let go of Nostalgia.

He and his unevolved rat just stayed the same this entire time, I'm surprised more people weren't sick of them. It's more so how they executed it. If they incorporated characters and tied up loose ends alot better, ash leaving wouldn't take such a big hit. I'm predicting they masterchief him. If the next few seasons flop, they bring him back
All facts. At least fans of the games got tired of the gen 1 pandering. Now I wish fans of the anime act the same. And it's a perfect analogy that some fans call him the "mascot" of Pokemon because he pretty much represents what the franchise is now. Nostalgia pandering over something actually good. He's only kept around because of his popularity not story reasons. You can replace him with a different character in every season and the story will still work, with maybe a few changes. Same way that those "paradox pokemon" are just rehashes of old Pokemon and gen 1 pokemon keep getting favored over others.

Ash's story literally turned into a fan service the moment Goh (journey) started. Not only there are a lot of fillers, time skip, and fan favorite Pokemon being caught by Ash, Goh was pretty much a kind of a Mary Sue (Gary Stu for male). Remember when Goh caught Suicune?
It's no wonder if people finds it incomplete, and hollow. Ash's victory seems like being given easily. But that's just how many Poketubers felt, I don't know about the majority of the watcher.
Also about why Pokemon Anime content being dropped in number, might be caused by Sho Pro Copyright Strikes. Small channels are being targeted to take down their videos, despite they have a fair use policy. This, of course, can snowballed further making more and more viewers unappealed to the show, creating more harms to everyone else instead.

Animation director worked in the Pokemon Movies which have way better animation than the Ash series, Pokemon XYZ and Pokemon Sun & Moon (the best episodes from both those 2 main series). The sound director worked in Pokemon since the beginning, My Hero Academia and Kuroku no Basket. Music composer worked in Pokemon Journeys, Pokemon Hisuain Snow, Pokemon Twilight Wings, Yugioh Zexal and Hetalia, freaking Hetalia.
It's also declining in the US too. For starters, The anime moved, again. It moved to Netflix, which isn't an bad choice, but I think that Nickelodeon wasn't even too interested, and local TV networks.... Yeah, the Children's Television Act isn't gonna let them have it.
And when they do get it, they put the new episodes in "batches" every 2-3 months. Seriously, I would have watch all of them if they put new episodes in a week, but most Netflix kiddie shows just get new episodes every 2-3 months so it ain't gonna fit it. I stopped watching the anime in general after Sun & Moon, and I haven't seen an episode of Horizons yet, because it isn't gonna come until February.
Speaking of Horizons, Netflix gets it! I wonder know why, maybe TPCi don't wanna repeat the move again because they are gonna lose a lot of their viewerbase if they did it again, but seriously. 6 new episodes every 2-3 months? I know it's for the first 6 episodes, but if they are gonna keep doing it, everyone is gonna watch the sub versions of the original Japanese versions because at least they air the new episodes weekly than here. Canada also does the same thing too!
Basically, if the TPCi-Netflix deal ends, which isn't gonna be in like 1-2 years, then they could find an different distributor. Maybe Weigel Broadcasting could be interested in picking it up and air new episodes on MeTV, but from what I mentioned earlier about the local TV networks, they have to put some advertising restrictions when they air it

They are just too stubborn on status quo, and fear that any change will be bad for them. Besides The Pokemon Company would start losing viewers if younger viewers would have to watch over 1200 episodes to catch up on the Ash adventures. It would take around 1 month of constant watching anime alone for 5-6 hours every day, and not everyone can afford to waste so much time (I have watch entire One Piece episodes so this is why I know how long it will take).

When I found out regular Pokémon was coming to an end my nostalgic having ass started watching the whole series 15-20 episodes a day and right now I'm at ep 58 in journeys, I'm really sad ash isn't going to be the main character anymore. But on the bright side I'm going to be watching the new Pokémon when it come out and I'm hoping its amazing!

Something old timers like us have a hard time understanding is that is very difficult to like a character that old (Ash) if you are starting to watch Pokemon just nown which is something that was kinda addressed with Goh. You do not make sense of the developments of characters/Pokémon and lore, unless you played/watched since Gen 1.
Eh honestly, Ash leaving is a good thing to me. His character in the latest seasons is so poorly written. He's an awful Gary Stu and I hate this Ash.
However, now we have Riko and Roy, and I hope that they will be properly written, unlike Ash, but I have my doubts and I don't get my hopes up too much for now.

You know what? Screw Ash. Who even watches Pokemon anymore? Aside from little kids and nostalgia blinded adults who are mentally 6. Trash milked protagonist. Mid side characters. Trash story. Villains have the same thing happening to them. Try to steal Pokemon, gets sent flying, rinse and repeat. Its tropes are so outdated that it should have ended in the 90s that aged as a cult classic.
And oh boy its fanbase. Trust me they accept no criticism and even worse, defend its flaws. I get it it's for kids and maybe I'll let my future kids watch it, but even then there are way better kids shows that are more recommendable.

Second, Team Rocket is great. They may fail in the same way everytime, but they're also deep, well written and really entertaining characters. Just watch the "Jamzs being the best character" videos for example and you'll see.
And towards the fanbase, I agree, but there still are nice people out there that are also a part of this fanbase.
By making Liko or Rita his kid...it essentially keeps him in the anime as well as the viewers. She has his hair lol...and we all dreamed of a timeskip. Ash could retell his story of what he did after defeating Leon if needed be bringing him back as his 10 or 11 year old self in like a story to his daughter. If the new anime is a massive success then that won't be necessary as Liko and Roy are well enough to carry it on out. Anyways...Aim To Be A Pokemon Master has good filler episodes ngl but is a pretty lame ending to Ash's Journey: ie it's just leftover Journey's Filler Episodes they never got to use. It was a long time coming, it was dying already loong ago since Johto. Shudo the original head writer hated how the series was formulaic and left the series forbonding with a comment how the formulaic episodes would bring an axe to the series. And since then the death of the series started, especially after BW flooped in Japan and started the budget cuts era during all of XY where they tried to save the situation only for it to not work especially after Ash loss against Alain. Then SM came and the series lost yet another good amount of viewership and then Journey with the second budget era coming in not just because of Covid. In Japan they hated Go and the series lost everything that made it charming to begin with. Ironically Journey ranked lower then BW in Japan which is an impressive feat. Honestly SM and JN feels more like the executive got pissed with the audience for not liking their product so they dragged Ash character in the mud with a series and an equal shitty pokemon League victory in Alola. Then it all went worst where the series still wasn't liked so they created more shit with Journey.
And honestly I wouldn't be sorprised if that was the case, executives being bitter in having to give in using Ash as the tool they pleased bruteforced the anime in something it was never meant to be to just ruin it all together.

THE POKÉMON ANIME IS GARBAGE
A. The show constantly hits the reset button. Once every few years (when a new game comes out) ash will move to a new region, never talk to his friends again, never use any of his Pokémon again, and goes from being a semi competent tactician to a compleat idiot. Even worse his picachu the one Pokémon he has constantly had will go from being able to take on opponents in a much higher tier then him and win (latios) to being the weakest thing that can get ko-ed by a level 5 snivy
B. Literally every character is annoying especially the male characters who are in fact not characters but a series of running gags. Brock: “OH I MUST CONFESS MY LIVE TO LITERALLY EVERY NURSE OR POLICE OFFICER OR FEMALE CHARACTER I SEE” Cilan: Describes everything in a food metaphor. Clemont: “I HAVE PULLED THIS NEVER BEFORE SEEN INVENTION OUT OF MY ASS!!! WATCH AS I CONTINUOUSLY PRAISE SCIENCE AND MY OWN ENGINEERING SKILLS AS THEY FAIL ME AT EVERY TURN!!!”
C. Ash’s intelligence is entirely plot dependent. One moment he is a brilliant tactician teaching his Pokémon moves to counter his opponents and actually taking type matchups into consideration the next he thinks he can beat an entire gym with an underleveled politoad. Not to mention never recognizing team rocket. “Oh hey there are two idiots with pink and purple hair who speak in rhymes and finish each others sentences but they are wearing Groucho Marx glasses so they can’t possibly be team rocket.”
D. Just team rocket. Where to start... first off routinely falling out of the stratosphere cannot be good for you. Secondly HOW ARE THESE THREE NOT BILLIONAIRE ARMS DEALERS!?!?!? 1. They have good business skills they routinely set up dummy business that make tones of money but they will shut them down in a day. 2. They routinely build giant mechs and Pokémon containment cages from scratch. If you ask me, Ash being a departure from the OG Pokemon Trainer, when even having a change in the art direction just so he could win a tournament, makes me sick to my stomach; so I lost interest because of this major change. C.D: My exprience with Pokemon is a really complicating one, like how I ended up with my wife. Things started pretty innocently with the Kanto, Orange Islands and the Johto region (at that point Ash, misty, Brock and Pikachu look each other with satisfaction.) They were light hearted, upbeat, funny and uplifting years when we were still young and optimistic people. But with Hoenn we started to get older and the excitement and fun started drastically to lower themselves. As the time went by our distance became bigger and bigger. But when we reached the Sinnoh region... We suddenly grew up!! We realised that we may be not kids anymore but we were old and mature enough to go on and settle our lives down. But suddenly... Black And White showed up and our relationship became aggresive and mean spirited. And just I thought that I was ready to move on from the toxic relationship... Along came Greninja and literally saved the day! But then we decided to go for vacations to the Sun and Moon and at the same time betray everything that poor bastard Greninja tried to make! But at one point we realized our mistakes and we tried to make up. And the results were... this! (He shows up Ash winning the Pokemon World Cup.) We... finally... did it! We finally got married and with Journeys and Master series we made our lives, found fine jobs and we made 2 wonderful children.
Honestly, I stopped watching the anime long before they planned to retire Ash, because I was sick to death of having him and his unevolved runt of a Pikachu shoved in my face constantly. I straight-up celebrated when I heard they were retiring him.

I was happy thinking that now Ash is leaving and we'll finally get a well deserved mascot but no that yellow piece of stinky garbage is still the mascot of my most favourite franchise. I'm so done with that trashy mascot that if someone gives me a PSA 10 graded Pikachu card even for free I'll pay to ship it back to them.
