Cool video. I'm kind of surprised they would take a return on something you've drilled holes into, but I hope it works out for you :) I'm also bummed that Mr Fusion cannot be removed - it would have been such an easy option to include (and one that a company like JazzInc would not have missed) but still looks like a great piece despite these shortcomings.
Sideshow is pretty lenient with returns but they'll flag an account that sends back something that was tampered to prevent abuse. If they see it's a recurring issue where someone is returning tampered items then the account will be banned.
How are you going to return it after you drilled a hole in it? Can sideshow simply send you replacement wheel parts?
They'll still replace it, but believe me, Sideshow will put a note on his account that states he returned it in a modified state.

Danoby, my DeLorean came in today... no issues with the hover conversion. However, the passenger seat was loose, unglued. Easy fix, but still

Thanks for sharing the unboxing video, Danoby! I completely understand how having to deal with a QC issue takes the wind out of your sails and dampens the excitement, especially on this one, but I am sure Sideshow will take care of you. Mine is inbound soon and seeing the issues you had with yours makes me a little nervous for mine. Looking forward to part 2 of this video after you get your replacement.
Danoby, my explanation on the speckling on the tires is that it was raining when it got hit by lightling. I figured it would have been speckles of mud.
I did watch a prior unboxing, and they said to make sure you pull the wheel all the way out before folding them under. That's a bummer.
You can't fold the wheels down unless it's all the way out. Clever R&D design on their part.
Pretty sure this is not an QC problem.

Awesome video and comparison from the Mark 1 and Mark 2, shame the video took a turn for the worst but hopefully sideshow comes through and gets this taken care of.

Ok, I have a possible solution for the wheel issue
I'm not a figure collector but I'm in the RC car hobby (I have 8 of them and some are used in very hardcore mode)
Many RC hobbist use one trick to give plastic more flexibility and avoid crackings, its cheap and easy. Just soak the piece in WD40.
WD40 will give lubrication to the mechanism making it more easy to move, and also give some flexibility to plastic avoiding cracking
Maybe works in this beautiful model

oh, my bad, im guessing you are referring to sixscalemafia's unboxing. yeah thats a shame about his lights. ive never said your comments about jazz inc aren't correct or warranted, ive said the bigger man is humble in victory. and you won. he lost. be humble in victory sir. but if joost doesn't fix mafias lights, then yeah, its a bit of a problem i guess. but a mate of mine unboxed his a few weeks back and he was really happy with it. i recall we had to spend a bit of time learning the lights remote, so maybe thats it ? anyway, im still watching mafias review. he seems happy overall. and having seen it in person at my mates place, its an incredible looking piece if nothing else.

I will do one of these eventually. In order to convert these to RC it's going to need a front ifs bulkhead from a similar sized on road RC, being these are rear motor full size a rear motor diff and ifs setup similar to a HPI Baja 5b. The rolling resistance means nothing because it's not going to be riding on anything from hot toys besides the wheels and tires. This has been on my list of projects for a long time but there too much money for static toys. My 5th scale HPI at least will run and it's similar in price lol.
When I saw the speckle on your Delorean tires, said to myself: Blackmark cover-up. When I got mine "THE SPECKLES WERE ALL OVER THE BOTTOM CAR!😥😢😭🤧 Looks awful to me.
Solid review. Thanks for the tip on heating the tubes. The molding color on the mark 1 bumpers arent correct. That "pewter" color is not on any of the movie vehicles which always kept me from buying the mark 1. Huge eye sore imo. Glad it was fixed on the Mark II.

Looks like you definitely put some pressure on it around 8 minutes and bounced it pretty good during the drilling portion. With a relatively heavy vehicle that might explain the back wheel but not so much the front. Seems like a weak design caved under a little more pressure than it could handle. Sideshow will take care of you because that’s what they do best. Looking forward to review of the replacement. Good luck!

Sucks what happened to your Delorean! Hoping mine arrives all in-tact... So I've been thinking about the light bleed on the backs of the wheels. I wonder if you could get a 3D printed plate that fits snugly around the wheel, but on the underside... paint it with a shiny reflective paint to reflect more light downward for a bit more lighting coming down from the wheels. Just a thought...

Hey there! I just got one of these a few weeks ago! Do you think it would be difficult to mod the power switch so it's always on via USB? I'd like to connect the usb power to a standard smart plug so it will turn on and off via HomeKit. I can get it to turn off, but the power button has to be pressed twice to get all the lights on. Thanks!
So the bumper color can vary a bit on the real Delorean. And many of the scenes in BTTF2 seem to show a closer matched bumper color, whereas BTTF1 seems more discolored.
Maybe it is not meant to roll or else the wheels breaks.
A working theory that did cross my mind. 50 points given. ;)

Dude you are the man for taking a drill to your DeLorean a man after my own madness. I got the batmobile for less then was offered. I plan on doing up grades as well AND yes a drill is coming in to play . Sorry for the broken wheels may you get a new new one.

How do Sideshow returns work once you’ve ‘modified’ the vehicle? Perhaps lessons learned is check it out fully before drilling holes. Yes, I know , thanks Captain Obvious.
Sideshow will still replace it, but they'll note that it was modified by the customer in their system to protect them from people who might abuse the system. If someone keeps returning stuff like this they'll be cut off.
I think the wheels that broke was from you trying to roll it if I was to guess. Will they take the return since you drilled into it?
yes, it could be the back wheels are not meant to roll, and by pushing it hard you snapped the axle joint.

He was rough handling the wheels and only used one hand instead of two to evenly distribute the pressure when pulling the wheels out. This is on him. Adam Savage was gentler when he opened his up. For the price of the model, do you feel the Flux bands should illuminate? The inability to turn on a light for the Flux Bands is absolutely the biggest holdout for me.

Any chance that it broke when you were pushing it back and forth to test the spinning of the wheels? Shouldn't be that and they should warn customers if that could happen, just postulating how 2 wheels could be broken like that!

Set mine up yesterday. When you're pulling the wheels out to rotate them, they actually pull out quite far. It feels like 2 clicks take place. I THINK for the ones he broke, he did not pull them out all the way. Didn't have any issues with mine

@@2NDCBT Yeah he definitely forced them before they were positioned correctly. Kinda sucks cuz on the one hand, it was definitely user error so I don't feel Sideshow should feel totally obligated to replace it. On the other hand, the instructions aren't super clear to feel for 2 distinct stops. I'm sure he'll get another one but if I were him I'd be hoping Sideshow doesn't watch this video lol
I wonder if thats what was causing the friction of you trying to roll it? The roll itself wouldnt snap it surely you can see the front right section slightly sagging so looks to be simply QC but i wonder how much easier the replacement will roll
I feel your pain Danoby. When you first mentioned the wheel broken in hover mode and I was wondering, wait, this can't be it...Then you show the plastic rotating strut plastic cracked and I was horrify. Then comes your 2nd wheel too with the plastic strut crack problem and I said to my self, "Damn, I don't know how I will handle this and I have never return anything back to Sideshow with such large purchase...". Here's hoping my Mk.2 comes in proper and I wish you are able to get your return sorted and get a new Mk. 2 back in working order!
As well I watched DeLoreanTECH's review and issue (ruclips.net/video/bK7oT9ck5NI/видео.html) with the white speckles on the rubber tire/underneath the car and I notice your Mk. 2 DeLorean also has that speckles on the tire rubber too. Even during Sideshow Unseal and Reveal vid shows the tire has the white speckles, plus Tested vid too the tire is speckled as well.
The speckling is meant to be weathering on the tires and underside of the car. I think a lot of people are mistaking it as a paint flaw.

Was looking forward to your review which was going great by the way thank you. Shake that Hot Toys didn’t make the joint sturdier. I feel it should have been made of thin light weight steel joints and plates. Very beautiful vehicle can’t wait for the follow up review. @@DerrickAliyas no. Common sense dictates that in this mechanical situation, one should use two hands on each side of the wheel to evenly distribute the pressure when pulling out the wheels.

As much as they charge that’s unacceptable. Sorry to hear. I’ve seen another unboxing where the person had paint splatter all over the bottom of their car and tires. Makes me worried about mine that’s suppose to come in down the road.
The paint spatter is meant to be weathering on the tires and underside of the car.
@@outsider238 um no. I’ve watched a ton of unboxings and nobody else’s had that splatter on the undercarriage. The tires are meant to have some light specks but not like the guys I’m referring too.
@@ScubaDiverPicker Hmm. That's interesting. Every review I've seen they all have the speckling on the bottom and the tires. The bottom is harder to see if it's not at the right angle or have enough light on it. Even Adam Savage's had the weathering on it.
