My routine goes like this. Close previous months budget (balance all accounts, record all payments. Check wage slip and and deposit match, pay money into bills account. This is a separate account I have with direct debits set up for payments over the month (water, gas, electricity, mobile, TV license etc). Pay money into my emergency fund (I am trying to build up 3 months worth). Pay into sinking fund for vets bills, car things, diy, holidays etc. A very small amount then goes to an actual savings account. Budget what is left for groceries, petrol, pet food, leisure. I have a minimal income but do my best with what I have.

If you have to spend more, then you should look for more avenues to make more money rather than saving the little you have.

You can try saving in Money Market Funds. It takea 2-4 days to access your money after sending a withdrawal request. Also have a budget and only keep the money you are using that month. You can also try to go on a cash only budget where you withdraw the money you need per week and operate on that, all week. Till the next week.
