  • In this video, I provide you with my Saddlemen Road Sofa Review for your Harley Davidson after having ridden with the Road Sofa for 1,300 miles over 4 days. The Saddlemen Road Sofa for your Harley Davidson touring motorcycle is the the Ultimate Touring Seat in the Saddlemen Seat Line up. This was the first road trip that I have taken with the Saddlemen Road Sofa on the Harley Davidson Road Glide Special. We road on the highways, backroads, off road, heat, and the rain. Watch the full video to get all the details and my experience with the Saddlemen Road Sofa on the Harley Davidson Road Glide after 1,300 miles. ‪@saddlemenusa‬‪@GatewayHarleyDavidsonStLouis‬
    GELcore Technology Explained
    Shock and Vibration are the real world forces acting on your body that cause rider discomfort and fatigue. Take a moment and think about your last ride and ask yourself - Are rough roads and constant vibration cheating me out of the ride I deserve? If the answer is yes, you owe it to yourself to read on and learn more about what GELcore Technology can do for you.
    Newton’s third law of motion states that for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. Understanding the forces acting on your body while riding is critical to understanding why homogenous polyurethane foam seats developed in the late 1940’s and probably on your motorcycle right now are preventing the extended ride times you desire. Saddlemen® uses science to change everything by offering a complete line of seats featuring our unique manufacturing process known as GELcore Technology.
    GELcore is engineered to dampen, divert, and deflect energy through a mechanical process resulting in a smooth, therapeutic ride.
    Our technique combines a specifically formulated viscoelastic polymer also known as SaddleGEL with the latest in co-molding comfort technology to reduce engine vibration transmitted to your body by up to 50%, and reduce direct impact forces by up to 92%.
    Saddlemen® invented GELcore Technology and today we are widely recognized as the industry leader, selling more gel seats than any other seat manufacture. However when it comes to the benefits of gel don’t take our word for it.
    NASA uses gel to protect sensitive camera equipment on the Space Shuttle Discovery as it pierces the Earth’s atmosphere at 17,000 mph. NASA also uses gel to keep the International Space Station in orbit, gel is currently used in the medical industry for Wheelchairs and Hospital beds to promote blood flow, and major league baseball mitt manufactures utilize this cutting edge material to dampen the impact of a 100mph fast ball.
    Instead of relying on foam cushions or air bladders that may impose improper contours, a riding saddle with GELcore Technology provides a topographically neutral suspension that will conform to the shape of the person who sits in it. Using pressure-mapping technology, we experimented with different tensions across the backrests and seats, fine-tuning our designs to produce the desirable distribution patterns: peak pressure zones under the ischia, with wide distribution of lower values along the thighs and across the back, avoiding the spine and the area behind the knees.
    Seats with only foam padding do not necessarily provide comfort, because a too-soft seat can put pressure on the gluteus maximus muscles at the sides of the buttocks as well as on the heads of the femur bones and the sciatic nerves, resulting in the kind of discomfort experienced when sitting in a sling-type playground swing or a director’s chair.
    GELcore Technology is a scientific approach to minimize circulation-restricting pressure with just the right combination of material layers, by curving the ProFoam structure away from pressure-sensitive areas of the body and cushioning it with ComfortFoam while dampening shock and vibration with SaddleGEL. Co-Molding the materials with this technique is what makes Saddlemen®’s GELcore Technology far superior to the homogenous polyurethane foam seat that came stock on your motorcycle.

    Love my Road Sofa. For the newer models 2023 CVO Road Glide and 2024 Touring, the Road Sofa is noticeably softer. Not nearly as firm as the Road Sofa I had on my 17 Street Glide. I’m happy because the one on the Street Glide was a little too firm for me. Good stuff brother!

      Thanks for watching and commenting. The one in the video does seem softer than the one I got about 2 or so years ago as well. 👊✌️👍

    Seats are such a personal opinion. Apparently what works well for one, not so much for the another. My opinion of my road sofa after 6k miles is not so good. I thought it was pretty hard for touring. It’s on my Road King. Now I have a RG and went with different seat. My Saddlemen is perfectly fine for around town. Nice video though. As always, pretty thorough review.

    I’ve had a road sofa for one year and 15k miles. It’s like riding on a brick. The stock seat is so much better. I think Saddleman says it takes thousands of miles to “break in” because they know it might be a couple years for most riders to hit that many miles and they won’t complain about it being so uncomfortable. Trust me - get a Road Zeppelin. Biggest waste of money I’ve ever spent on my bike buying the road sofa.

    • @HDVIBE
      @HDVIBE  28 дней назад +1

      Thanks for watching and sharing your perspective on the topic. Seats are definitely a personal feel situation. As I mentioned in the video...go try one out before you buy. They work very well for me and have been riding only on Saddlemen seats for 4 years now. If you are already a subscriber to the channel...thank you. If you haven't yet subscribed to the channel I'd be honored if you'd consider doing so. Thanks for your support and ride safe. 👍👊✌️

      Ya… I’ve had my road sofa 5 years and it’s still hard as a rock… trying to find a seat is a real hard thing to do… nobody in my area has “test” seats to try out… so whatever you order you are stuck with. So unless you are a millionaire good luck finding something you actually like!

      @@marke7445 I’m not saying HDVibe does this but I am convinced most motorcycle RUclipsrs repeat the lie about break in because they are given a $900 brick and feel they have to say that.

    • @HDVIBE
      @HDVIBE  28 дней назад +1

      @JA-zh5xi As I stated...don't only go by what I say...test them at a Saddlemen dealer and try them out before you order. As I also noted, they are firmer that other seats and way firmer than a stock seat. 👊✌️👍

    Is this standard reach or extended reach I watch so many videos on this seat and every body forgets to talk about this topic. I’m 5’10 and I don’t like setting up on the tank like a road king sits. I love the stock seat on my street glide sets u back further. Anyway was wondering if this is a standard reach do u sit more up on the tank. Thanks.

      Thanks for watching and commenting. After this latest trip, I would say the Road Sofa is definitely very comfortable for long days in the seat...however, I've ridden long days on the Dominator as well. So a slight edge in comfort to the Road Sofa and edge to the Dominator for looks and comfort. If you ate riding two up, I'm sure your passenger would prefer the Road Sofa. Not to knock you down or your video. But if you want to build a house , buy saddleman. Brick by brick. There’s a reason why you find them a lot on the resell on Facebook marketplace, eBay, etc….break in is require. But in all honesty. It’s to be expected with most aftermarket seats. It’s all subjective. Only cause your buddy as one. It doesn’t mean it’s for you. 🫵🏽
