One of my all time favorite albums, and through the miracle of RUclips we may all enjoy these great works from UK again. In one hyphenated word: MEGA-OUTSTANDING!
LOVE this POWERFUL amazing song Why no live versions? Saw them tour with Tull in 79, someone must have some footage - Carrying No Cross cooks my noodles too...
This is so fantastic; we can hear this great UK composition without ripping up our own vinyl copies! God bless RUclips and all those who bring classic UK to our eyes and ears! Beyond fantastic!
Dang, saw these guys open for Jethro Tull in I think in 79, then bought this cassette, wore it out, I know Itunes had their first album but I never saw this one, have not checked in awhile maybe they have it now. Great song, thanks.
Years ago i sold most of my records but thanks to you tube i rediscoverd this, now i'm in search to buy this record and the previous one UK,on cd,awsome musicianship,on a pair with rush
A fantastic album and great title track. Great blend and fusion of many diffent styles of music with a staccato progressive vibe. Really great words to go with the creation of a modern secret agent man in a English spy novel:)
I saw them open up for Tom Petty in Asbury Park, NJ. It must have been 1977 or 78. Jobson was "sick" on keyboards and violin. They blew petty off the stage!!!!!!!Their first album is a master piece.
this is truly sick after bill Buford left a young terrio bozzio joined fcuking sick line up I worked at tower records in campell ca,and saw their first tour and every tour and personnel change this is why im a musician
One of the best shows I saw was UK and Jethro Tull in '79... they were such an incredible group and with Bozio they were at their peak musically and artistically. I always and still wonder why they split up?
@@jonesy2111 They split up because Bozzio and Wetton wanted to sell out and make money, which they both did. It turned out that it was only Jobson that was the purist (and the guy that wrote or cowrote every single U.K. track, and some of Bruford's).
I love this album! I saw UK in Edmonton Canada in1979 when they opened for Jethro Tull after Allan Holdsworth had left the band. Shortly after that, Eddie Jobson played on Jethro Tull's "A" album. I believe he was 18 years old at the time.
assassin is the perfect word for it.Literally " Ḥashshāshīn" .They used to eat or smoke Hashish before they went out on a kill. This is the perfect album to listen to under the influence of that particular banned substance as I rather hazily recall.
I have the import vinyl of this album from back in the day; I agree with Patricia. John Wetton and Terry Bozzio went on to more fame; don't know where the Eddie Jobson, keyboards and electric violin went. Terry Bozzio is the Shakespeare of drumming and is very active still. John Wetton played bass with Greg Lake before ELP. Carl Palmer is also an incredible drummer. These guys were way ahead of their time, 1979!

I saw that tour too at Long Beach Arena, Long Beach, CA (I was bombed off my ass - too bad!) I guess it was on that tour where Jobson met Anderson and left UK to join Tull for the 1980 Tull release...
Hmm...not exactly. Jobson did three solo albums; an album and world tour with Tull; and briefly joined Yes--then left the music business to start composing music for film, television and award-winning national and international commercials, as well as being choral director and conductor for Disney. One of his commercial scores is in the Museum of Modern Art in New York... he was not exactly "selling jingles." He returned to recording and performing in 2009 with UKZ, the U-Z Project and the UK Reunions and is now semi-retired, but gives advanced lectures on the physics and perception of music.
This song should have been used for a backing track for a James Bond movie and I can't think of a song whose musical arrangements best reflects the subject matter! It's the spy movie anthem!

This song is wickedly cold and foreboding; the perfect music for a mercenary or an assassin. An under-rated masterpiece of progressive rock.
Absolutely!
Patricia J King Crimson is overrated, UK underrated
The intro and outro still give me major goosebumps!
@@AEMachinas Funny. Cheers!
Completely agree, well put.....
John Wetton, a hero. His legacy will last through magnificent music like this.
His voice was incredible!! He could sing his guts out!
I agree, magnificent music like this written by Eddie Jobson and Robert Fripp, more than his own solo or Asia music.
My favorite bassist
@@artrock5741Eddie jobson sounds like Keith Emerson on Hammond B-3 and moog

Way ahead of their time.
I listened nonstop to this album for years when it came out...I felt like I was the only one that loved this
Not by a long shot!
Incredible intro and outro!!

UK. A prog rock band. First time I listened this song, through my friend Enrique Leal, who gifted me a casette, I liked it.
