I think you should do whatever style that brings the most joy! Even if it’s just for a season or goes on forever you can always change your mind at any point in your journey. I agree we should be allowed to ENJOY our hair❤❤❤

There are many naturalists whose hair has now grown. But I don't see anyone talking about the new season when the growth targets are achieved. Everyone seems to be on this journey and no one ever arrives at the destination. Now that you are both here, could we have content in that new direction of enjoying our hair without reversing the gains? PLEASE. 🙏Or is our hair too delicate to be enjoyed in perpetuity? It takes so much effort to gain the length that sometimes I feel people fear enjoying it lest something like a major setback happens.

You can become a stretched natural. Stretch your hair in 4-6 braids on washday and set the ends on a roller. Let it dry completely then take them down. Style the stretched hair in textured buns, ponytails, half up half down styles, etc. At night braid it back into one braid to sleep or a big bantu knot on top of your head. No heat is necessary, split ends kept at bay, you can enjoy your length, maintain your length, and have pretty, feminine styles with minimal effort.

    • @esthertjones

I do this quite often! Braids don't stretch my hair much past my shoulders, but I get enough elongation to combat tangling😊

@@esthertjones How long is your hair? I think braiding/bunning at night will help maintain/elongate the stretch but it definitely doesn't get fully straight. Banding is another heatless method of stretching to try. I haven't tried it but I have seen people do it with success.

Lol, you are overthinking. Do what you like, but don't lose your progress, Sis. Try buns on stretched hair and alternative with a braid out. Use a puff cuff for your bun. A bun is classy, and well put together. Your hair is so long and thick so it will be beautiful and big. 😊❤

Whatever styles you decide to go with, just be sure to listen to your hair & continue to be gentle with your golden strands.
The 1st sign of single strand knots & breakage, discontinue that style.
Your hair is a gift from God and if I were you, I would pray over it as you're anointing it with your castor oil & butters and he will guide you in the right direction.

Hi sis, I'm in SA and that Revair situation hurts me so much. 😢 Why are they not looking to make it available for the rest of us!?!
I vote for the "do what you like" freestyle option. You've been saying how much you want to enjoy your hair, the length etc. and you how you feel prettiest and confident when your hair is out. I feel like you'll be able to switch to a protective style if your feel that your hair needs some attention. Also, you now know how to grow your hair now and what works for you. I vote for the change you are craving sis. You can always change your mind at any point...just enjoy it. ❤

But I'd also like to give you an additional suggestion for being able to enjoy your hair out, a channel by Seun Okimi & a wash day she did about 2-3 months ago for a wash & go (or twist out I forget). Your facial expressions in this video revealed what You really would enjoy doing most with and for your hair 😁
Choose wisely whatever you perceive is best for You. You know what your time, money, lifestyle and energy is like so they can be determining factors for you. You have to deal with Your hair everyday so what may work at one time may not work at another so be flexible. Rigidity can be a joy killer.
Just be thankful for being blessed with the hair You have and take good care of it and your scalp, inside and out.
(And as a married woman it's an added bonus when your husband enjoys a particular style on you and you like it as well and want him to enjoy your look with that hairstyle.👫👩‍❤️‍👨🤱🏾❤️🤗)
Suggestions: Wearing your own hair in cornrows while wearing a headband wig can be a protective style or you can wear the cornrows out alone or add crochet on the back or add a braided ponytail to your cornrows braided in one braid. Wearing head wraps with your cornrows can be an option as well.
When you want to wear a blow out you can stretch your hair hair as you blow dry it protecting the ends. Use high speed but on a low heat setting to avoid damage if that works for you.
Just enjoy whatever you choose to do.
    Thanks for sharing 🙏🏾 💜💐😀🎉

Sweetheart, you know I love you like a grandaughter, and have been watching you for awhile now. I have learned a lot from you and have appreciated your journey. Let me say that if you were bald, you would still be a beautiful woman because that is the way the Lord made you. He also gave many of us type 4 coils. As such, our hair has it’s limitations and abilities just as straight hair does.
Because we as Black women in this world have been taught that there is an ultimate beauty standard that doesn’t include us, we struggle with that. We want to “play” with our hair the way the straight haired women do. We know on a gut level that for some of us Black women, our hair will not hold up for long under frequent heat techniques. But we like the look of them, and some of us want those looks.
I admit that for the 50+ years that I wore my TWA, I admired some of those styles, but I opted to be “limited” by what the Lord gave me. I knew that those processes were not good for me.
Your hair is so lovely and wonderful, but I understand that you want to be able “play” with it and “enjoy” it. I am asking you to accept that those alternatives measures that you want to use on your glorious hair are not necessarily always healthy and damage free for you. If you want to use these methods, by all means, it is your choice. But accept that there may be consequences, don’t be surprised by these setbacks…they will happen. You have suffered them, right? Yes, you can recover from them, but do not be surprised when they occur.
If you and I both have 4C hair, it is still different. What may set my hair back may not set your hair back. It’s all a journey. You are an intelligent and lovely woman. You know deep down what is best for you at this time in your life. I ask you to be patient with your hair, and lovingly care for it. God bless you, and thank you for what I have learned from you on my journey.
Let me say that my hair has indeed changed over the years and yours might as well. I used to have dense coarse kinky hair. At this time, I have finer hair with a cottony texture, but so far, it is still growing nicely. It is a bit straighter with softer knots but still kinky. Only God knows what the final outcome will be, but I am enjoying it. I think patience comes with age and I am willing to let the Lord handle my hair. Over time, Lovely, over time… 🥰

Hey girl! 😄💕 Heat stretching is addicting, and remember what you’ve been saying…heat is the enemy to our Coily strands. It really is! So my advice is to come up with your signature look, that you are most comfortable with, that doesn’t require heat and extensions. Thats IF you want to retain your length and keep going. If not, girl, blow dry away!! I just don’t want you to regret a setback after all this work. You used to say have your setbacks when your hair is short, not at waist length, cause the work you’ve put in is nothing to flinch at. 😅 But whatever you decide, we’ll be watching! I have recently purchased Ghd duet style 2 in 1. It is a blow dryer just like the Dyson airstraight but it’s also a hair straightener. It goes only until 180C to dry your hair, so there is no damage. I ordered it and tested it ,it works very well, i have real kinky 4c hair. But it didn’t work on my daughter’s hair who is mixed skin and has maybe 3b or 3C hair. That’s why it’s better to test the Ghd duet style before keeping it, you never know…but it’s much cheaper than dyson and also good quality. Hope it helps.

@@LivingInTheShadeI definitely think you could get heat damage if you overuse the revair, but as someone who uses it 4ish times a year currently, I've not had any issues. As long as the hair is properly moisturised all should be well.

    1. I definitely think you should do whatever you want with your hair!
    2. NaturalReign has grown and is currently growing out her hair with wash and gos; her content may be helpful, especially as she doesn't follow the NONB method.
    3. Have you looked into the dyson airstrait? It's almost double the price of the revair unfortunately, but from what I've seen, it can give very good blowout results on tightly curly hair with less heat than a traditional blowdryer, and without needing to use any kind of comb attachment.
    4. How do you want your children to perceive and remember your hair? You're the model they will look to know how to love and appreciate their own natural hair. That should definitely be a deciding factor in whichever route you choose to go. ❤

Don't use heat girl! You've learned n Ed already that it sets your hair back. Once you've learned what your hair likes and doesn't stick with. Try using super large rollers to set your natural hair texture without all that heat. It will allow your natural hair to set in a stretched state and produce beautiful luscious curls without damage. They may not be the most comfortable to sleep in though, overnight. But sitting under a hooded drier and a lower heat setting or warm/cool to help speed up the process, could be an option while using indirect heat from the hooded dryer versus direct high heat from the hand held dryer. See if u can Google other hair influencers videos, if need be, on how to use this technique and how to vary the different sizes of the rollers in your hair depending on how big or small or tight or loose you want the curls to turn out in your hair. It's kinda trending again here in the US. Good luck!
