So.. you used a steel hammer, instead of brass or any other softer tool.
    Does this make a difference?
I’ve only seen brass contact those wires, from other o-ring companies.

The hammer never hits the cylinder head.
      Unless you are careless.

Ya don’t send your shit there. At the last close up you can see flat spots since he didn’t use a soft hammer like a brass one then he used a chisel which probably marred the block where it will probably leak. Make a template with a string or paper and pencil trace it then put the wire against it and cut it not on the block.

We have done thousands with zero failure rate on our O-ringing of 6.0 and 6.4 cylinder heads.

Exactly what I just posted. When I saw the steel hammer I was blown the fuck away.
      All that “precision” thrown away.

How do you figure that wire length?
Or do you just lay it in there and cut by eye?
    Thanks!

We have a template that gets us close and then trim to fit.

Cool. I had no idea that was done by hand. Shops charge a fortune for this and probably takes them a total of two hrs to do two heads. I bought a set from Ucf and all there heads are o-ringed

Not sure if you are talking about the protrusion of the wire? If so it .007-.008 above the surface of the cylinder head.

I wouldn't say its a permanent fix but certainly helps with the issues from only having 10 head bolts.

We have used a brass hammer and a leather hammer in the past. We found no damage to the stainless wire by tapping in with a steel hammer.

I'm actually surprised a hammer was used at all. I would have expected them to be pressed in somehow. As unforgiving as the 6.0 is, that would concern me if it were my heads.

So, when you see oringed heads priced hundreds more than non oringed, you know you are over paying

    • @dirkwagy9838
      @dirkwagy9838  4 года назад +5

We charge $100.00 per head. The fixture is a few thousand plus labor costs. I believe we have a fair price. Others may not? Thank you for the comment.
