@@Headstonemanhey brother I have been searching trying to find out if you can use a polish or wax on granite my mother in-laws headstone has like rust stain around all the lettering any ideas would be appreciated I used wet and forget but it didn't do much to the stain also used dawn dish soap no luck. I pull it once the concrete is soft set… so it’s set up enough that it won’t move much but still workable if need be… it takes a little bit of work to get it out but not bad

That is specifically why I don’t put that information in the video… I want people to ask questions individually. By doing that I can help resolve any confusion. This is not something that just anyone can go out and do with absolutely no training. It’s important to do it right

Where can an individual obtain the "best practices" information to accomplish restoration or recovery of weathered and almost unreadable tombstones? There are normally only a few materials used for grave markers: granite, limestone, or marble. It should be a straightforward process depending on which one of these materials one is working with. It would also be informative to know how broken tombstones can be repaired, short of just replacing them.
@dc-wp8oc that’s correct! There are two great options for hands on training. The first is attending a class that Atlas Preservation puts on at a cemetery near you during their 48 state tour. That one is typically free. The other option is to find a class to attend that is put on by a conservator with the cemetery conservators for United standards near you. Their website is a great place to start. Typically there is a small charge for their classes.

That said, with internet resources, the standards, methods and materials used to repair and or restore tombstones, should be online and available to anyone. The process is certainly not complicated, and the methods and tools used are familiar to many. Appreciate those who take the time to pass along key information especially while demonstrating the entire process. Potentially, YT is a great platform for that. In America, it is shameful how little the public regards cemeteries and how often, those entrusted for care and maintenance, take the money and run.

On the tombstone under her death was there something that was carved in the tombstone
I have some headstones I’m thinking about fixing. What material did you use for the base you poured?
High strength quickrete. The driveway grade stuff seems to work the best but I haven’t been able to find it lately
Does the short board you put in come out easily when it's setup ?
