I wanna paint my rifle but it goes against all I was taught from my dad growing up. A clean and well oiled rifle is what I’m supposed to have. But man painted rifles look so good. I’m seriously thinking about cerakote , I’d be more comfortable with that.
You just brought back some memories of myself hearing those same words. I want to try cerakote as well, but the process is so much more involved. I felt more comfortable knowing I could always wipe this off with some thinner if I needed though it would be pretty labor intensive for sure!
…OR I’m watching EITHER ‘cause I’m bored, curious..or trying to fall asleep ha ha ha. Nahhhh, I’ve painted 3 already and just curious about the “Battle Worn” scheme! Edited to add: GREAT call on the “Tribute” gun..sound and honorable reasoning!
Gotcha - this was just some simple rustoleum I believe. Any brand will work honestly. The biggest tip I can give you is to wait until the paint is fully cured before you attempt to lightly sand it. Also BE SURE to apply the paint in light even strokes. If you don't you will get pools of paint build up in places
I have a lower that was 80% In The Raw so I sprayed a nice basecoat of black down and now I want to take a gray and go over it like you have. Since my lower not anodized do you think I would have a similar outcome to yours?
+Tino Bambino absolutely shoundnt be an issue. Go with a very fine grit sandpaper like you’d use to wet sand a car- like 600 - 1500 grit for instance. This will give you a realistic wear look and won’t break through the black base you’ve laid down
totally agree with you actually, but it's all I had on hand. Plus the light scuffing all over knocks the shine down. so you can really use just about anything.
haha! great point - to be honest I didn't even notice until you commented and I watched it again. Thanks for watching the video - no more Rocket Science in my future vids!
Very well painted indeed , BUT have to say in 8yrs of army service never ever saw a real ‘battle gun’ look like that neither on our side or the other . Sorry .
Like the detail you gave about tribute.
Awesome way to describe battleworn. Great video
+Christopher Layton thanks!!!!
Awesome video brother. Don't have a Rifle yet, but this really has inspired me to do one. Keep making videos.. great info-videos.
+J-maddog thanks man! This was a piece of cake to do. Next video will be a duracoat how-to
a wise man once said. Everytime someone does a "battleworn" paint job we lose gun rights..
I kinda like this actually. cracks me up
Flannel daddy
What bottle did you use, I love that grey

I've done 3 this year! Love doing it with Rattle Cans!!
Best way to have a used look to your rifle is to actually use it
I completely agree, but in a civilian role, it’s tough to get that type of use and abuse (at least for me) 😂
You’re not gonna use it all the time retard

Nice! What brand of paint did you use?
+Badazz Outlaw just simple nail polish I stole from my wife!!! Lol
Gears,Guns, and Grub what brand rattle can paint I meant?

Gears,Guns, and Grub ok. I appreciate it.
Very nice! Do you think this could be done to a glock ploymer lower?
+James Constantino it absolutely works. The trick is a good wipe down with isopropyl to get off any oils and grime

@@the_Mike_McCoy good info I appreciate it. Thanks
Looks great.
Nicely done.
Thanks Joey!
How did your dusty coffee taste afterwards 😂 JK thanks for video
lol - builds the immunity!
Did this rifle start as a plain black anodized rifle??
+Gloop yep, solid black. I’m about to remove all the paint and try out some duracoat next
@@the_Mike_McCoy Thanks!
Thats how they all start lol
Great video
Thank you, glad you liked it!
why would you use gloss? kinda defeats the purpose

Your EOTech is backwards... ;)

KJonahCox1 I get it ! 😂

Nah and it's a sightmark you troll😂
If I hear "rocket science" one more time....
haha! great point - to be honest I didn't even notice until you commented and I watched it again. Thanks for watching the video - no more Rocket Science in my future vids!
@@the_Mike_McCoy lol it didn't bug me. I watched the whole thing 😅. Just something I noticed
Damn, I don’t think I can bring myself to put sandpaper to a gun’s finish
no going to lie, it was a little stressful! But - I'm really going light with the sanding to make sure I don't go too deep.
@@the_Mike_McCoy nice. The gun came out looking sweet
Different
Don't forget to drink your coffee!
Stop talking
👍🏻👍🏻
On an anderson lower....
I like to keep my nice lowers all stock
