    USE SALT!!!!
I used to do 400 hardboiled eggs every morning when I cooked at a nursing home and the easiest way is to just add A LOT of salt to the water. The salt doesn't go through the shell so it won't affect the taste of the egg but after cooking the shell literally falls off.....you're welcome.
If the shell is sticking a little bit add more salt next time.
If you're doing large batches after cooking in water with A LOT of salt you just dump them into a strainer (you want the shells to crack so don't be gentle) and spray them with water, the shells rinse right off.

How much salt, like 2 cups?

    • @Spitts
      @Spitts 5 лет назад +8

@@HelloHello-hk4sx I never really measured so I can't say for sure but unless you're doing a lot of eggs I don't think you need 2 cups. I would start on the low end, maybe 1/2 cup per dozen and adjust from there. If the shells stick use more salt next time and if they come off try less until you find the right balance, so your not over doing the salt and wasting it.

Use a spoon turned so it follows the curve of the egg to slip between the shell and the white. Holding it under a moderate stream of water from the tap also helps to remove the shell. Fresh eggs tend to stick to the shell more firmly than ones that have been in the fridge for a week or so.

Keep egg under running water when taking the shell off and the shell should then come off easily and usually in one piece :)

I've found if you put your eggs in cold water as soon as they are done. The white pulls away from the shell better. I roll them on the counter cracking the shells)and then peel them under a stream of cold running water. If you can't peel them right away, refrigerate them and peel them when they are completely cold.

Another channel suggested that it's science... start the eggs by lowering them into boiling water, then into ice water when done. Said the membrane attaches to the shell and not the egg white as opposed to putting in a cold pan of water and then heating it up. I tried and that worked, I also used a Nescafe Instant Coffee jar, put 3 eggs in with about 1/2 C water and shook 6 times. The shells came right off. But I ALWAYS peel under the water faucet. I use the jar hack all the time. For this method, you're quite right. You only use a "large splash" of water in the jar, and no you don't have to shake the hell out of it. I usually just bounce the egg against the jar a few times. enough to ensure the shell is cracked and the water has been forced under the shell.

A good tip for peeling eggs is to really shock it in ice water directly after you boiled them and leave them for at least 30 seconds. That will make the thin membrane holding on to the shell release and make it much less likely that the egg-white sticks to the shell when removing it. if you leave them off after cooking that will not happen. so you need to do it quickly.

The shell will usually just slide off easy-peasy....but then, what they DON'T tell you is that the age of the egg usually determines how easy they are to peel. Older eggs peel easily because the membrane on the inside gets larger with age. Fresh eggs are notoriously hard to peel....no matter HOW you do it! Great video...I so needed the laugh. I don't think it was the number of shakes with the Negg, but the force of the shaking. I've used the jar method for both peeling eggs and peeling garlic (no water for the garlic btw, just a dry bulb). It works, but takes a bit of oomph. That's a scientific term. lol In a like manner, that light tap tap tap of the big end of the Eggstractor probably could have been a one-tap, slightly more forceful tap. In the jar, far less water and more vigorous shakes. Since my content is partially made up of kitchen tips, maybe I'll drop a video using the jar method soon.

The older the egg the easier it is to peel, The reason is the membrane separates more as the egg ages.
Also one of the easier methods is crack them, then place under running water and use a spoon. Press the spoon just under the membrane and then turn the egg around removing the shell easily.

    • @anti-ethniccleansing465
      @anti-ethniccleansing465 10 месяцев назад

Interesting! I haven’t heard of the spoon method before… I think you should clarify that it should be cold water though, obviously. Coldwater, from what I understand, helps separate the membrane as well (and this should be done right after the egg is finished boiling).
It’s kind of interesting in that the older an egg is, the better it is for eating it as boiled, while the fresher it is, the better it is for eating poached. :)

The Eggstractor is a take on a way to do it by hand. Tap the egg on both ends.. Peel a little back on the ends. Put it in your hand and blow on the back of the egg.. holding your other hand out in front to catch it.
A little practice and you can blow the egg out off the Shell. Not really a great way if your serving it to guests.. not very hygienic.. but for yourself. It works.
I suspect your eggs are harder to peel than store bought.. they look like farm fresh eggs.. and the shell seemed to stick to the egg more.
If you try the Eggstractor again.. when you tap the rounded end.. try and get it cracked all around the curved part..not just the point... I bet it works better.

Lol... who'd have thunk watching an egg peeler review could be so fun! Yeah...I rinse mine in cold water in pan after done boiling...tap along the sides of the pan while dipping in a little water I leave on the bottom of the pan (about an inch)... the trick is to get the water under that sometimes spandex tight membrane... once that's accomplished the peel comes right off... not always easy and the eggs do need to be somewhat warm. I've never peeled a cold hb egg... lol. Smiles and blessings...

I've always been told that if you overcook your boiled egg, the outside of the yoke turns dark, but it was perfect when you put it in the fridge, and the next day it was dark. Hard to say whether it was age or temp that caused the darkening. I think the eggs have to be freshly-cooked for the gadgets and hack to work effectively.

Gently crack the small pointed end of the egg, then crack and peel the big round end of the egg, rinse under cold water, then stick the spoon into the opening you made around the edge of the egg so that it is in between the eggshell and egg, carefully move your spoon around the edge until the shell comes off nicely. The more oval shaped the spoon the better it is to match the curved shape of the egg. The water helps lubricate the egg inside from the shell before you use the spoon to make it peel away easier.

Thank you so much for this video, now the only way I peel eggs is with my mason jar!!! Saves SO MUCH TIME! We eat hard boiled eggs for breakfast and make egg salad and I hated peeling eggs, now it's not a chore and the little ones like to shake the jar! You can reuse a glass jar from pickles or something just wash it. Also if you have a pressure cooker they seem to peel quicker anyway.

I use a little jar to mix my scrambled eggs in the morning. They usually get "all shook up" and then I can just cook them. And the eggstractor is good for funny noises, if you like that kind of thing in the morning. That being said, I'll stick to the counter top crack and peel method. and it helps if they are a little damp, too.

I love how all the stuff in your house has proper names. And that you use the names for them all. "I'll just toss this steak into The Range Mate Pro and remove it when done with the Clever Tongs. The pasta is almost done cooking in the Red Copper Better Pasta Pot. So now I'm tired so I will crash out on my Purple Mattress." The only things in my house with names are my Kitchen Aid and the Cuisinart, which is a Kitchen Aid version, but I still habitually call it a Cuisinart. My tongs are just tongs and my pots and pans are just pots and pans. My life is boring :-(

My method to peel an egg is first to boil it really hard then let it cool just enough to hold it in you hand then hit the egg once against any hard surface to crack the shell . Then place the egg on hard surface like a the counter or cutting board then place your palm on the egg and roll it back and forth with little pressure until all the egg shell is cracked like a smashed glass window then peel it. It worked for me every time. Thanks for your videos.

The secret is to crack them by shaking them around the pan right after you cook them and they are still hot, then run them under cold water. Cracking while hot keeps the albumen from re-attaching to the shell as it cools.

I think this video really proves that different people might have more or less success with the gadgets, and Brandon is also a worthy, handsome young man to feature on-camera.

The EGGSTRACTOR OUT OF THE BOX requires a perfect Vacuum seal around the egg to work properly.
I just got mine and definitely there were some issues.
Here is what I did to Reduce the problem dramatically.
    1. Make sure the bottom of the eggshell is cracked so the egg can exit.
    2. Make sure there is a nice ROUND hole at the top using the spike and turning the egg properly.
    3. Place the egg into the hole.
    4. CRITICAL - Add plenty of water around the egg and the contact plate of the pump
    5. When you pressdown the increase in air pressure will go into the hole on top ..
    6. If the hole is not nice and round, the pressure entering will not be even
    7. When you press down the egg simply drops out.
Enhancements: Coat the top plate and around the sides of the hole with
DOW 688 silicone. This will form a perfect seal with an egg.
Coat the bottom of the pump around the pump with another thin layer of
dow 688 silicone.. The device is now a different beast.. it pops eggs easily
Automation: this is 2021 and plenty of HAND HELD car airpumps for $20.
I made the same holes and I simply took a car portable airpump and placed the
airpump output over the hole on top.
The output of the airpump is a cable for the car tyre . I SLID a silicone
tubing over it so that the tubingg will form an airtight seal.
A perfectly peeled egg flies out the bottom.
EGGS: Use Eggs that are NEW. Eggs that are over 2 weeks old will have
their yolks sink to one side due to gravity and it will make a poor
    quality egg

Funniest Freakin I"ve watched! Please repeat the whole test with eggs of different ages. I am of the opinion that peeling eggs is more a matter of the age of the egg than the tool. Also, please try to just rolling the egg until its all cracked then peel the egg under a bit of running water.

I find getting the water to a boil first then slowly dropping the eggs in will make the peeling process much easier.
Then I hit the big end on the table and usually peeling from there is the easiest, usually falls right off even days after.

2 easy way to peel eggs. 1st - Older eggs peel easier because the shell is porous and liquid will slowly evaporate out, thus making older eggs easier to peel because of the air/egg ratio. 2nd. The copper chef egg cooker you use makes it easier in general to peel eggs since you have to poke a hole in them before you cook. Some of he liquid evaporates out, I hand peel line all the time easily with it.

The Jar method only needs a tiny bit of water. It's just to give the egg a bit of fluidity, think oil in a car engine viscosity. But it also needs gentle friction. AFTER you shake, try rolling the egg in between your hands, like money money or On the counter a few rolls back and forth before you begin to peel, this should release the egg and the inner membrane between the egg and the shell, and then it should just peel off in a swipe. Try this for the next installment of part 2...

I always found it easiest to to have a mixing bowl of cool water. Tap them a few times around the shell to crack it, and then peel them under water. The first time the shell lifts a little bit, water gets under it and the rest of the shell basically falls away. It does not use more water in the long run as you are cooling them quickly in the water bath to begin with.

1: Add a large amount of salt to the water before you boil the eggs. (This helps break down the shell and membrane, making it a lot easier to peel).
    2: Cook eggs.
3: Cool the eggs down in an ice bath.
4: Gently roll the egg back and forth on hard surface a couple of times with the palm of your hand.
    5: Peel egg.
Very simple and works every time. No need for gimmicks.

Chefs method for peeling eggs; Drop egg on your cutting board or solid countertop from a few inches up, that'll crack the hard boiled egg. Place the middle of your hand over the egg and slowly press down on it with a little pressure and roll the egg forwards until it hits the bottom of your palm. That'll crack it all the way around, then easily peel off the shell.

I let them cool thoroughly in COLD water in a saucepan, dump out the water, bang the eggs around in the saucepan to crush the shells, rinse them once more in cold water, and peel. If they still don't peel easily, let them sit in cold water a while longer. I have no idea why this is so hard.

With the eggstracter try cracking and peeling the top and bottom of the egg then rolling the egg on it's side cracking the shell. Put it in the device and with moderate pressure push down. Using that technique I have been able to cup the egg in my hand and by putting my thumb and forfinger up to my mouth and blowing have had success forcing the complete egg from its shell.

That's about how the eggstractor worked for me, too. As someone who doesn't like to quit, I went through a dozen eggs and couldn't get it to work, I think I didn't have them cooled enou5, however. I'll have to try one more time.

What you should have also done is done the old-timey method of using a spoon what you do is you use a spoon to crack the bottom in where there's going to be that are pocket. After you've cracked Old Shell or roll it on a table which is so much easier than that first tool you use. You then just peel the bottom and pretty much spoon out the egg. This method is so much easier you do not have to worry about loading the egg into each particular product. Spoons are readily available and you can have many people going at it at once.

I can't say exactly why, but every time we make our hard boiled eggs in our pressure cooker, they peel amazingly easy.

  • @BrookeWrightisMadamMagnolia
    @BrookeWrightisMadamMagnolia 5 лет назад

Yeah it's all about the temp of the egg just prior to peeling. All those ways would work, along with cracking by hand and peeling under cold water. If the egg cools down to much the liner(skin membrane) will re-adhere to the shell again, causing it to take part of the egg with the shell when you peel it. So, if you use your egg cooker (have one and love it) take the hot egg and run in under cool water for a few seconds to get it cool enough to handle, then tab it on the counter enough to crack the shell all over. Then run it again under cold water, which then should peel very ez.

This method Works 90-plus percent of the time. Steam your eggs. Shock them in ice water. When the eggs are cold dump the water shake them in the pot so they're all cracked. Pour cold water over the eggs and let them soak for 10 20 or 30 minutes. I don't know where I learned this method but it works great!

Tips to hard boil and peel eggs:
Use "old" eggs. Fresh eggs are usually harder to peel.
Steam them. I've steamed all my "hard boiled" eggs or ever now. It's an Alton Brown trick. Works a treat.
Steam some older eggs and they'll almost peel themselves.
