    I had to draw digitally because I have tremors in my hands and its been like that since I was probably 12. Most digital art programs have stabilization features which just help me steady my lines allowing me to draw like normal. I have a lot of respect for those who can do traditional art but I have the same respect for those who take the time to understand digital art without bashing it as being something "weird" or less "artistic" than traditional. I feel like digital art acts as an entirely different medium rather than a digital replacement for physical art. There’s lots of things you can do that make digital art unique, and lots of things you can do in watercolor/gouache/acrylic that make them unique! Personally I’m a huge digital art fan, but I also abuse layers, clipping/masks, layer types, and all sorts of post-processing. That’s where the fun comes in for me!

    I think it’s easier to approach digital art as a traditional artist if you don’t think of comparing traditional mediums to digital brushes. Instead of trying to find a brush that works exactly like watercolour or gouache, look for a brush which gives the effect you are looking for that you can layer and manipulate to look like traditional art. Hope this is helpful:)

    • @Congiary
      @Congiary Год назад +139

      This is great advice! Digital art is another medium, just like how you wouldn't compare watercolor to oil paint. There are transferable skills, but one cannot replace the other. Just takes some practice!

    • @Akihiko-senpai
      @Akihiko-senpai Год назад +60

      Honestly, I find the brushes that mimic irl brushes make things much more complicated for me. I was so mindblown when I learned that people usually use those kinds of brushes as finishing touches rather than using them to, like, paint. I guess that explains why those watercolour splatter brushes are HUGE compared to the regular round brushes.

    Digital art is such a learning curve that no one ever talks about, thank you for showing that even professionals who have been doing the art process for years have trouble when it comes to dropping all sensory inputs you get from traditional art and shifting to a screen. I’ve been drawing digitally for about 4 of the 9 years I’ve been drawing for, and I still learn new techniques and features of the apps I had no idea were a thing. It’s something you’re just gonna have to keep trying in order for it to really stick and not feel bizarre anymore and even then switching back to traditional often is a good idea. You’re doing great! Please keep doing digital art! You can accomplish so many cool rendering techniques with it, it’s such a fascinating thing to learn.

    I just picked up Rebelle a bit ago, when it was on sale, and I love it so much. It works a lot like a traditional canvas. I still prefer painting traditionally, but since I don't really have the finances to go out and buy art supplies (nor do I have the space to store them), Rebelle is a fantastic alternative so far! I'm so happy to see it's got your seal of approval as well. That means a lot, coming from you.

    I know you told me to pick which one, but I’d say just pick whichever one you feel like using. Traditional has its charm and I feel like nowadays it’s a missing art among all of the things people do. But on the other hand I love how you are so willing to try new things and even going into new programs just to see what’s going on. Please just keep drawing whatever you want and keep on keeping on! ❤️

    I think you should do both! Physical media and digital media both have inherent upsides and downsides, learning digital art and applying it as a new tool for when its needed in your art is the best way to make use of those inherent benefits without losing the ones of physical media, its situational

    never even HEARD of rebelle, but it sounds super intuitive for traditional artists!!! (... one you figure out the digital equivalent of the old-school setup of course. ^^;
    for what it's worth, most artists i know of that do both traditional and digital art seem to have two separate styles (or at least strategies) for each, but your traditional style carried across beautifully here! ♡

  • @SomeGuy-gc8zs

    The best aspect of digital art is ease of sharing. It's much, much easier to upload a file to share with others, sell prints of, or put on a tee shirt than to paint something traditionally and then make it digital to do all that. Drawing tablets also make really good use of limited space if that's ever an issue, and you never need to worry about trying to find or make the color you want or running out of a particular pigment. Sort of like me carrying a Moleskine around instead of my whole laptop if I suddenly have an idea I want to write about.

I still love what you were able to accomplish in your own style!

If you ever wanted to try something that's not digital painting, PLEASE try CSP again! It won't disappoint.
