- The Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion presented by Michelin attracts some of the rarest cars and gives some 550 owners the chance to compete in their vintage race cars against cars from the same era and class. It’s the only place in the world where you can expect to see a $40 millon 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO square-off against a 1960 Chevrolet Corvette.
While the largest chunk of cars participating will be sports cars and prototypes from the 1960s and 1970s, there is tremendous variety. Get there early enough, and you can see cars from Pre-1940 battle it out on Laguna Seca’s famed corkscrew turn, sporting wooden wheels that flex and groan over bumps and through corners.

The 2016 historics was all about BMW, so they were included in more races. An awesome benefit of that was parade laps by the BMW engine'd McLaren F1 GTR .

That 962 Porsche however was driving that thing hard!
Yeah, canepa is a damn good driver, I think the 767b driver was probably (understandably) frightened to push it all the way

just an fyi... This is not a 787 its a 767 it does NOT have a 26b it has a 13j which only put out 600hp while the 787 26b put out more than 700hp. So please stop complaining about how the car is driven if you cant tell the difference between the two.
it put out up to 850-900 in full form (787)
Joseph Elias yeah like i said more than 700hp but the horse power was capped at 700 to ensure it would be able to run the endurance races.

Same difference lol :)...Purist will gripe about it but they were almost identical. Main difference being the 787 had wider air intakes on the nose and the flat face front wheels.

pixelgaming460 they have that car stowed away in Germany. They pulled it out of the garage for the 100 year event but they like to keep it there for some reason
That GT-O RX-7 battling that Ford was awesome! It's like I'm actually watching an old race from the 1990s and seeing and hearing the Wankel rotaries scream again is making me want them to race in today's IMSA series, like back in the day

I think that is whats most interesting and intriguing about some of these cars, I’d say some of those engineers, mechanics and even drivers were as close as we’ll get too mad scientists and some of us got to witness their creations in real time

They are considered "historic" cars. You just can't go out and replace these older race cars. They are one of a kind. Rare.. You crash one, it's over.
Forget the newer BMW. That's another story.
you have to remember these are timeless, legendary cars. the guys are trying as hard to not crash them meanwhile pushing them a bit.

are Group C cars the thing as Camel light race cars
They ended with the wrong music - instead of an acoustic guitar, it should have been all synth music. Regardless, GODDAMN those IMSA GTO cars are the fucking best!

Why's there much newer bmws than 91. The E92 is about 13 years too new.

I only saw a glimpse of it once and the results say that Auberlen had 0 laps.
Oh wait it's listed as J. Bell too but only has 4 laps on that one.

It's a historic car, (7767 btw not 787) Crash and it's all over.
I was at the event and asked the driver the same question. he said the car was not behaving and kept under steering so he didn't push it.
