Very good review. Nicely done Brett! It actually allowed me to make a decision easily through a competitor that has the idea to share codes via text messages or email it...Without the hassle of set up on someone else's phone...Overall, great job sir!
I love fingerprint lock feature but don't use wifi Alexa feature on the lock. I recommend lockly but haven't heard of this brand till now, Great demo Brett 👍
@@TechWithBrett I prefer smart because I can unlock and lock my door from anywhere in the world as long as I have cell phone service. Many times family lost keys and I unlocked the door from my phone. You cant do that with this lock
It's made by anker witch is a solid tech company. It is smart now. And they also have never ver that had wifi built in but a bit pricey. I got the wifi bundle of the first ver.
Thanks for the review. Three points it seems to lack. 1). Add temporary access code w/o the guest having to download/install the Eufy app, scan QR code, etc. 2). You said it's bluetooth only so I can't remotely unlock/lock that door if I'm away. 3). Send you an alert when the door has just been unlocked while your away, since it's not wifi connected.
I almost stopped watching after you said it wasn't compatible with Google Assistant or others; however, I ended up sticking around and really enjoyed your review. I still think I'd wait for more integration, but it looks very promising compared to others I've seen.
Awesome video, I was having hard time to remove the whole thing after installing, but through your video I saw that hidden screw. Could you please upload a video about how to take it off after installing it.
You didn’t show how, once installed, the interior of the lock prevents someone from easily resetting the device to factory settings. I’m considering a smart lock, but want to know about the Achilles heel of each device … not sure I’ve seen that. The inability to add people or let people in remotely , and no integration with home assistants / doorbells seems like a major failing . Looks perfect for you and it’s good it allows kids to unlock , teaching them about security early is good.
@tech with brett I had not seen this one before and I was contemplating on getting the "ULTRALOQ Smart Lock U-Bolt Pro". Thanks to you, I've decided to go with this one, instead. Awesome work, dude. Liked and subscribed.
Both really nice but I think the eufy edges slightly specially if u get the wifi gateway also. I order both to see. Just to many options and all do things better than others.
Good to see the direction alignment is in the app... I recently installed Alfred db lock, the hard switch for side selection does not work on its own, have to do a hard reset after change the direction...
When the battery run out, can you charge the battery without doing the initial setup again? Can you save the pass code and finger print setting so that you can upload the setting to the lock again after you charge the battery?
@Tech With Brett did you end up rekeying the Eufy lock to have one key for the whole house? And how's the battery life? I heard people were having issues where the batteries only lasted couple weeks.
How well does the fingerprint sensor work if your fingers are dirty or wet (raining)? I know if my fingers are wet my phone won't recognise my fingerprint.
I both like and use Eufy products. However, this "lock" looks more like a fancy electronic doorbell and I would worry about people trying to continually press the fingerprint sensor thinking it's a doorbell and missing my guests.
Mine came with four double A batteries, not one rechargeable battery pack. Mine has Bluetooth and WIFI. It connects to the wifi bridge so you can check who's entered or exited and also unlock via app (sends you notifications each time someone opens it or it locks).
I think they mean that by the 0.3 sec, how fast the system can scan your fingerprint. so if you take your finger away from the scanner after 0.3 sec, it can already unlock. I rather think it has to do with that. just test it out and let me know if it really is.
This is great! I like the simplicity of it but, I'd like to be notified when someone comes in or goes out. Could you use more than one -front and backdoor? Speed test - tie
because it is Bluetooth only it is missing the notification festure. Yes you could have multiple in the home and choose which one to adjust in the app.
Hello. Excellent and very informative video as usual!! I was wondering if this can Auto Unlock when I approach it?? Thank you an thank you for your timely response
I'm not sure if this has been brought yet. I have side windows on my front door too and that's why we haven't been ab;e to use any of these locks. They can just break the glass and open the lock. We keep a dead bolt with a key and hang the key out of reach.
This my exact thought. Smash the glass, turn the deadbolt and you’re in. Fantastic review thought for sure Brett! We have the same setup at our place and won’t use these locks until one comes out with a deadbolt on both sides of the door.
@@iflychris I’ll have to try and find it again. Theirs a company out there that had the tech built right into the lock. That way you can use your own deadbolt on both sides. They wanted me to take a picture and measure mine to see if it was possible.
I like the lock but would like it a lot more if they had a key inside to manually lock it oppose to the turn knob. If someone wanted to break in all they had to do would be break your side window reach in and turn the knob. Where as if there was a key to manually lock it on the inside no one could get in even if they did break the side window...
That is actually a really great idea. I just accidentally bought some double cylinder deadbolts and didn't really have a use for them but if they were smart that would be perfect.
I have a front steel grill gate on the boundary which leads users to the front door via an ascending stairway. What sort of entry mechanism would you suggest to 1st unlick the gate, walk up the steps to the door and use the security door lock? Thanks. Garry Sayo
Not a bad lock but I still think the Next X Yale lock is best how to even though it is missing the feature to indicate the state of your door, open or close
I would do away with the window so close to your door that's almost criminal with out anyone ever breaking in right away. As far as the smart lock videos great job. Security wise like the other guys say just put your hand through the glass
I WANT ONE THAT HAS GEO FENCING CONNECTED TO MY PHONE THAT WHEN IM WALKING TOWARDS THE DOOR, AT 15 FEET WITHIN PROXIMITY IT UNLOCKS. AND WHAT IF I BUY TWO OF THESE? ONE FOR BACK DOOR ALSO? I GUESS IT WILL WORK?
Around 17:35 you talk about guest access and that seems like a concerning glitch. So even if you revoke access the guest still maintains access on their phone until “they” refresh the app, which they never really have to do. Could you clarify if I have that right since that means any person with temporary guest access really has access forever until they get rid of it.
Nice review what if they incorporate the security door bell with the lock as well which could have extra features like facial recognition security, also would be good if this is linked to your home automation system.
@@TechWithBrett with the smart assistant I'm only interested in knowing when (by verbal notifications on Echo or Google Home speakers) and who locks or unlocks this device. And whether the lock is locked when using my Google Bedtime Routine.
I'm not clear on why you prefer this lock over the Lockly Secure Pro... Can you elaborate? Is it more reliable? If Lockly could integrate with Home Assistant i'd have bought it already. Lockly's website now also advertises 0.3s lock speed now BTW.
I had many frustrations in using the Lockly Secure Pro specifically with the Secure Link integration. 1. I had to boar out my door hole to 2 1/8 which took some time and money. 2. It only has an auto lock on/off and certain seconds, no scheduling option is available. 3. The Secure Link smart integration says it works from 10 feet away from the lock, I couldn't get it to work 5 feet away around the corner from my door. 4. It has a door sensor to help know if the door is open or closed but it didn't seem to work since it would auto lock when the door was open and we would shut the door not realizing it locked and we would damage the door frame. I think the lock itself actually work really well and was feature rich but when it couldn't do things it promised it become frustrating. I will be reviewing the Lockly Vision soon to see if there has been any improvement. Lockly Secure Review: ruclips.net/video/OgF1-n4zXbU/видео.html
I really love this and really want to have this but i just spent 1750 on a really strong and safe door with multiple locks (top , Middle, bottom of door) so this is not going to work probably?(stupid question i know).
One important point missing here... what is the battery life duration? I have a lock that annoys me because the batteries die so quickly and you have to remove screws to change them which is a bummer.
@@TechWithBrett thanks for the info..any product that has feature of controlling the lock from inside when you enter to the apps maybe..double lock doesnt work for my son with autistic..he always find ways...thanks

They have a wifi version now. The newest one has the wifi hub built into the lock as well, where as the Gen 1.5 you had to get a wifi hub.
