    What I love about NZ (and Oceana) is the winning songs in their serious choral competition are all polynesian songs. Enough said. As an Australian I am proud to have married into a big NZ family.

    No kidding. This performance and also the West Lake version of the Mauga o le Atuolo just made me proud to be Samoan because these kids can do it better than me and I'm Samoan. I salute the NZ tradition of putting together performances like these for all Samoans to know that other countries embrace our culture as well.

    On behalf of all Samoans & Polynesians worldwide, I just want to thank you for embracing our culture through your song. Its uplifting to see other ethnicities sing our songs and it was evident to see that you all caught our Poly entertainment side lol. #NesianPrideStrong

    I just found this video via FB. I can't tell you how proud it makes me feel to see that Non Polynesians respect, or at least recognize our culture enough to want to use it as a performance. Your singing, dancing, and pronunciation were all on point(; Greetings from Pearl City, Hawaii.

      +Benjamin Tili It's a year later and someone here in Hawaii asked me if Samoan dances have been performed by other ethnic groups... well I told her that New Zealand honored their Samoan cultural ties with local schools learning a samoan pese and siva.... not only Samoans performing but the school's students from all walks of life. This is what makes this performance a great contribution towards national pride of New Zealand of its diverse population... in Maori and Samoan the expression is: Tatou, tatou ... e tasi!

    • @jaks2much200
      @jaks2much200 8 лет назад

      +Benjamin Tili - Dude, did u not watch the "we are samoan" competition at pcc ? their were some black and white students participating from Radford high school. Even some Hawaiians, Tongans and other Polynesians performing from Kahuku, Farrington and Kapolei. They even had some asians in their groups too.

    the drummers were spot on too. Well done

    • @AceUalesi
      @AceUalesi 8 лет назад

      +Amy Lenn Spot on? I would never hate on these young boys because this is a mighty effort but Samoan dance actions traditionally mirror the words of the song. This effort on the other hand, is what Simon Cowell would call, "making it your own".
      When you understand the words of the song and you incorporate this message into your dance actions and gestures, that is, in my opinion, "spot on".
      Respect! Welly College!

    • @pennysworld4353
      @pennysworld4353 8 лет назад +5

      +Ace Ualesi take it easy dude- relax! I was only complimenting! My opinion is my opinion

    • @AceUalesi
      @AceUalesi 8 лет назад

      +Amy Lenn My house is insulated so in winter, it's always toasty. Just recently they revised some of the insulation requirements so even though, in my opinion my insulation is, 'spot on,' I'm not an authority on building codes and in actual fact, legally, my insulation is no longer, 'spot on.'
      Have a nice day.

      +Ace Ualesi whatever you are smoking on please share...

    • @AceUalesi
      @AceUalesi 7 лет назад +2

      Just to spell it out for you Amy, You are not an authority. So you saying it's spot on, doesn't mean sh!t :)
      If you sing an English song about a bird and mimmick the actions of a horse, it may look nice and spot on to people who don't understand English but to the English speakers, it is flawed.

    one of the categories for the competition (big sing) is a Pasifika or Maori piece. As a choir we hate singing boring songs and just standing there. We love to perform. And therefore we pick fun songs like this and actual perform them, not just sing them.
