Could have done a full video on rob cross. Rubbing his hand on his pants going for a double. Silly hand gestures when he wins a leg. Pulls funny faces all the way through his games 😂
He has said before it's to wipe off any moisture that's lingering on his hands, though at this point I imagine if there were no moisture he'd still do it.
When Michael Smith played Jason Lowe at 20/21 World Championship. He walked down the stage (cat walk) then up to oche to pace himself against Jason Lowe’s slower pace. Price always licks his fingers while standing behind an opponent throwing their darts. He does it for grip but as a habit to keep him distracted because he is impatient in throwing his darts
Speaking of Rob Cross: How about when he's in a tense situation (often on his last dart) and he adjusts/picks at his pants? Static cling? ;) Also.... MVG pulling up his socks when he wants to hyper-focus/kick into a higher gear ;)
When Lisa Ashton played Jan Dekker at the worlds, there was a very good camera shot where you could see her standing a couple of centimeters away from the oche. Trina Gulliver on comms said that she would toe the oche when her arm gets tired
Another fairly common one is sort of putting your dart in your mouth after retrieving them, usually at a point where a player is walking away from a dartboard thinks he's lost a leg. I've seen Price and Aspinal do this but I think I've seen others do this as well!
The classic nineties character was Colin Monk at the Lakeside mouthing "yeah" as he threw each dart. Made him look like a caveman...but a very good player!!
Simon Whitlock "blowing fingers" Paul lim "ghost throw" Christian kist "mouth drop on throw" Nathan aspinall"regripping a hell of a lot" Wez newton "leaning to the right on every throw" Phil Taylor's"eyebrow raise on every throw" John newman jr "little wiggle face down before about to throw" Lourence ilargen"pulling sleeve to top of shoulder before throwing darts" Mark Webster"raising his collecting hands in mid air before even near the dartboard" Wayne mardle "forward and back motion on the dart before throwing them Shane burgess "pulling dart towards eye before throwing" Co stompe " forward and backwards motion before throws dart" Petric korte " raised holding hand up by face when transferring darts to throwing hand" John Henderson "rocking on throw"
Cross looks at the bull before throwing at a double, you see his eyes shift from the bull to the required double. Also you can hear him kick the oche on the pro tour coz there’s no crowd noise. I’m sure I heard Ashton stands back coz when she started playing the pubs oche was at 8 feet
Yep. One I’ve taken on. Down with hands on knees and shuffle along if I feel out of alignment, stamp my heels down twice, back to the original position and rather slowly move my sights to the bull to make sure my alignment is definitely correct and then move my sight slowly from the Bull to the target number and then the three darts are just bang, bang, bang at various speeds. My rationale behind the setup is that I’m a lefty that in my cricket days, batted right handed, so because I’m looking to my left in both situations, I’m going through setting up my throw like I used to approach my batting stance and then I’m good to go at my normal pace once the first dart is released.
Dimitri van den Bergh puts his throwing hand in his pocket when he is getting his darts from the board, probably to keep it warm. Vincent van der Voort blows in to his throwing hand multiple times when at the back of the stage. That one is probably for warming up the hand too. Rob Cross seems to look at the bullseye when going for a double, and then looking at the double. Dirk van Duijvenbode fiddles with his darts in his left hand when he is about to throw.
Paul Lim and his ghost dart before he gets to the oche, something I do myself after seeing him do it after trial and error. Probably in my head but if I ever don't do it my darts miss (at least by a bigger margin 😂)
Being a dairy farmer my hands are wet a lot. My hands get as rough as sandpaper until they peel and become so smooth I can't grip my darts without KFC fingers. Also when my hands are rough, if I pour water on my open hand it will absorb the excess water in under a minute. So I have to add moisture all the time unless they are in the right state which is about halfway between new skin and sandpaper hands🙄 Phew that took longer than I thought
Paul Watton... continually tapping the oche....Paul Williams, throwing from a few inches back....also, could it be that old school players like Gary Anderson kick the oche to make sure it's tight against the wall?...some if these old pub oches were just wooden frames, made of balsa probably, that could move all over the place....
Whitlock adjusting his glasses then blowing his hands before walking to the oche MVG pulling up his socks Suljovic twisting something in his darts case while opponent is throwing Rowby John Rodriguez showing off to the crowd before throwing the third dart afte 2 treble twenties Gerwyn Price dropping a dart (i know it is not on purpose) Van den Bergh: smiling like a creep during throwing Dave Chisnall: Asking the score, repeating it surprised De Sousa doing de Sousa things James Wade laughing or smiling after a bad score John Lowe pointing at the dart after having hit a double Darius Labanauskas freezing for a second with the extended arm after having hit the double. Rob Cross rubbing his pants before throwing at a double.
The warm up / ghost dart. Scott Kirchner springs to mind. There may be other North American and Asian players that do it. It's a bit like a practice golf swing.
Paul Lim do it, a lot of Japanese players do it (I think Haruki Muramatsu, Mikuru Suzuki) Worst was Alain Abiabi during Bahrain Masters, a ghost dart *on* the oche
MVG pulling his socks up Price leaves his arm out all the way through his celebration if he hits a huge shot/9 darter, showing everyone why the dart was thrown so well Adrian Lewis has the little hand side swipe after his 3rd dart if he’s not happy with how they went There’s loads more could possibly do a part 2 on this!
Stephen Bunting just the positioning that makes it a quirk. He stands so far to the right of the oche that he has to wait for the opposition to walk past so he can throw. Makes his games very slow.
Ryan searle is such a great player have you seen draw and schedule for euro tour and why is there two events to go before cut off there's 3 pro tours before grand prix
Rob Cross drinking water after every throw and wiping his hands before a double. Paul Lim practising with a ghost dart. Richie Burnett walking to the next board when on stream. Nathan Aspinall regripping
You missed blowing on the fingers a lot of this is nerves some have a towel to dry their fingers. With me on pub darts I used to stand way back because of the types of darts I used and was more accurate at distance throwing. What about how Dart players line up their darting shots
What about Phil Taylor biting the flights usually when he was under pressure, must admit I'm a KFC finger man myself find it gives me a better grip somehow.
Fingers in the mouth is an issue for me, because after the match, they wanna shake hands, and for me, it's absolutely disgusting, get lost mate, I ain't shaking that. If it's a grip problem, use some magnesium in powder or even the liquid stuff, amazing grip. There are loads stuff out there, but that's just disgusting.
I’m a KFC fingers 😂 it just doesn’t feel right without, I have quite smooth/dry skin so just that tiny bit of dampness prevents the dart sliding out my hand
Rob Cross and his hand wiping is irritating to watch I'm sure that he has a nervous twitch or something but he probably doesn't even realise that he's doing it half the time! 😂
"I licked my fingers all night but here, shake my hand for it's the end of the game". I understand that it is done with a purpose but it's still gross and disrespectfull for the opponent, specialy in these post-pandemic times.

Literally the most irritating player to watch!

Forgot about that one 😂

Everyone is quirky in their own unique way right? Good stuff as always Sir Matthew! Cheers pal
Ive got a video idea Edgar... dart players with weird mouth movements/facial expressions when they throw darts 😂 Bradley Brooks, Aidrian Lewis etc
Jules van Dongen has the weirdest throwing face I've seen.
I have seen Gerwyn Price with the K.F.C fingers between shots sometimes before going for his double.
Being a dairy farmer my hands are wet a lot. My hands get as rough as sandpaper until they peel and become so smooth I can't grip my darts without KFC fingers. Also when my hands are rough, if I pour water on my open hand it will absorb the excess water in under a minute.

Whitlock adjusting his glasses then blowing his hands before walking to the oche
MVG pulling up his socks
Suljovic twisting something in his darts case while opponent is throwing
Rowby John Rodriguez showing off to the crowd before throwing the third dart afte 2 treble twenties
Gerwyn Price dropping a dart (i know it is not on purpose)
Van den Bergh: smiling like a creep during throwing
Dave Chisnall: Asking the score, repeating it surprised
De Sousa doing de Sousa things
James Wade laughing or smiling after a bad score
John Lowe pointing at the dart after having hit a double
Darius Labanauskas freezing for a second with the extended arm after having hit the double.

It’s always great to see Matt
Hey there hope your good
Are you going to lakeside this year Matt,I’m playing myself
Gezzy does a finger lick before his opponent throws every dart, I’ve always wondered if he makes noise while doing it, that would be annoying AF.
Mensur Suljovic rolling the darts in his hand before throwing
Phil Taylor Biting his flights when under pressure
Stephen Bunting just the positioning that makes it a quirk. He stands so far to the right of the oche that he has to wait for the opposition to walk past so he can throw. Makes his games very slow.
I know Brendon Dolan always said Bobby when he threw some times
I wouldn't want to shake Andy Hamilton's hand before or after a match personally.
Maybe 'Cross' is imagining a Gary 'Stone' in 'his shoes'?
Joe Cullen picks things (bits of lint?) of the stage floor and throws it off stage.
Kevin painter was the same as well
Funny thumbnail!😊
My fav one I’ve ever done
Great video matt what about Ryan searle does he just go up and gets on with it seems like a very relaxed player when he's throwing
Rolls out of bed and hits 100 averages for fun
Ryan searle is such a great player have you seen draw and schedule for euro tour and why is there two events to go before cut off there's 3 pro tours before grand prix
I do a spin and a backflip before throwing each dart.
Mervyn King stands far to the left on the oche, Stephen Bunting far to right. Gerwyn Price also quite far to right, maybe not as far as Bunting.
Does van de vort put his tongue in cheek when he throws looks like he’s sucking a gobstopper 😂
Rob Cross drinking water after every throw and wiping his hands before a double.
Paul Lim practising with a ghost dart.
Richie Burnett walking to the next board when on stream.
Nathan Aspinall regripping
Cross does drink so much water 🤣
You missed blowing on the fingers a lot of this is nerves some have a towel to dry their fingers. With me on pub darts I used to stand way back because of the types of darts I used and was more accurate at distance throwing. What about how Dart players line up their darting shots
Petra korte from Finland throws whit a hand for his eye.
Simon whitlock blowing his fingers i think corey cadby use do too
What about Phil Taylor biting the flights usually when he was under pressure, must admit I'm a KFC finger man myself find it gives me a better grip somehow.
Hempel's towel.
What about mensur with his chalk in the darts case and cross having a drink of water every single throw 😂
A few players use chalk tbf could have added a few in there
Rob Cross is a weird one
Madars Razma almost has to the Oche from the right
Yes he’s so far over tbf

I'm with you on that. I'd personally bring mini gloves for the handshakes but I'm a bit of a germaphobe lol
adrian lewis throwing a fit after he misses a double 3 times
Big Boris has KFC fingers also
I lick my fingers for grip, but it is also habit
I’m a KFC fingers 😂 it just doesn’t feel right without, I have quite smooth/dry skin so just that tiny bit of dampness prevents the dart sliding out my hand
Slide to left, slide to right… Rob cross…. ( rolls into Rob Cross clips) Missed opportunity even it is awful 😅 price also does the KFC fingers.
I missed it but I’m not disappointed 🤣
Rob Cross and his hand wiping is irritating to watch I'm sure that he has a nervous twitch or something but he probably doesn't even realise that he's doing it half the time! 😂
The dimi darts talking/ telling off
Vullen piking up dust at warm up,bthen licking his fingers.
Cullen
"I licked my fingers all night but here, shake my hand for it's the end of the game". I understand that it is done with a purpose but it's still gross and disrespectfull for the opponent, specialy in these post-pandemic times.
Michael Smiths surely the easiest finger licker to get footage of - he does it just before every single throw
Piccahu
Gerwin price licks his fingers all the time
Just too boring they could have played betterly
