Well, I went ahead and purchased this awesome device and did the following:
Downloaded an offline google map of my area.
Went to my car, and set up the IPad on one of those removal stands for cars.
Connected the Garmin and paired it to the Ipad.
Then paired the Ipad to the car and also connected my android phone via bluetooth and only selected to act as a phone and have the IPad as audio player.
Making sure the wifi was turned off, then selected a destination after the Garmin connected (green light)
Well I am well and truly impressed with the accuracy as you say here it is simply amazing!!

Anyone using their iPad/Pro CELLULAR version that does actually have GPS but has issues with accuracy should also look into this. Most iPads that have GPS don't use "GLONASS" and only use standard GPS/GNSS. Main reason I'm getting this. Solves all GPS accuracy issues.
I personally use my iPad Pro 4th Gen as my cars headunit and have been dealing with weird GPS issues when satellites would be at odd angles to my devices view.

I have found for longer trips that would go outside the off line map, such as for LD motorcycling you need to hot spot your phone so it will update the google live map on the ipad as you ride. The map will cache and let you continue with the Glo 2 giving the location and allow you to navigate while in areas of no cell coverage. The detail might be less, but it still works.
Not perfect, but keeps you moving. SO far I am liking this set up, as I can run my ipad on the bike for navigation with the garmin as back up.
Will be running in a 60 hour long distance motorcycle rally this weekend with about a 2500 mile route that will go through several states and areas of no cell coverage. I will have a Garmin back up running along side it. This is a test run for a much longer rally coming up next summer.

I do know that you can't make any route changes unless you do have cell coverage or downloaded maps. But my riding area is so large, that I don't want to have a whole bunch of off-line maps to keep track of.

If i pair it to my iphone via Bluetooth and use google maps or Waze, then I drive in an area where there is no cell coverage at all, will it seamlessly continue to track my position and provide navigation? In the past, I have driven in remote areas where there is no cell service for over an hour/ 100 miles or so, and the cell phone gps becomes useless.

Awesome review! Thanks! Question... I want to use this for a few things...
(CAR) I live in Alaska so cell phone GPS is terrible. That said I want to use it for driving as I loose cell GPS signal once through the mountains.
(OUTDOORS) Hiking, out in the bush, or out in the ocean... is there a way to strap this outside a backpack? Is it water proof? Are there cases for it to be strapped in a carbineer? (Or is this more of a bad Elf GPS+ option I need for outdoors?)
(PLANE) For use with Foreflight whether I'm flying myself (GA) or up at the FL from ANC to ORD.
Would be great if it had an emergency button or emergency texting capabilities, but I guess only the InReach or Zoleo will do that...
