JAVI how am I just now seeing this??? Bro! THAT WAS AWESOME! I was literally out of my chair when y’all were hyping for the last octet! You inspire me so much dude, you have no idea. I miss it!
john slattery the bore doesnt affect it all that much those baritones are yamaha which means theyre large bore nothing in the low brass section is small bore and I asked because my dci bari/euph tech marched batitone for the coats
john slattery bore size doesn't really affect it either. It's the triggers. What makes a bass trombone a bass trombone is the fact that it has two triggers. The thing trigger alone can't hit a low b natural or lower without getting into pedal range. With the double trigger you can easily go below that making it a bass trombone
This video made me switch to bass trombone 3 years ago, this was a life changing video and i am now going to be a freshman in college persuing bass trombone. Thank you
One of my favorite head cam videos. LOVE your energy and enthusiasm during the performance. This coming from an old trumpet player; although I never got the chance to march for a corp!!!
God. Beautiful and inspiring. I miss this activity like words can't describe, but watching this brings me back. I was cheering, crying, fist pumping... Thanks for making an "old man" happy.
I auditioned for a corp this year on bass trombone and to have a part like yours is my ultimate dream! your energy and your OBESE bass trombone tone have absolutely inspired me :)
Literally the coolest baritone head cam I've ever seen. The amount of passion you put out is amazing all on top of you still having a little fun with your hella funny things you say during it. I wish I was you.
I'm included in a Japanese group called Soka Renaissance Vangard. And we respect everyone of Bluecoats. The same bariton was being played, so I consulted. I'm Japanese, so English may be strange.
As a bass bone player I LOVE this video. 11:15 must've been so much fun. Along with those pedal tones in the ballad. What's the lowest note you had to play for the show?
I love all the vocals you have during the show lol. On another note, I hope to march bluecoats in a year, and performances like these are what motivate me to work towards it!
as a fellow bass player (currently in high school) I whole heartedly think this is an absolutely brilliant use of the instrument, your energy just makes my day, I wish that my band could have a 10th of that energy when marching
I felt your exact energy when I was a junior in high school and I marched clarinet. Granted, I couldn’t vocalize it, but it was so much fun! Congrats on winning the world championship on your age-out year!
I LOVE!!! The Transition out of the ballad into the (assuming) next movement with the trombones doing the different minor sounding notes, and IT JUST sOUNDS SO coOL!!! 8:52
I'm marching with the Colt Cadets this summer. First year of drum corps. Gonna march with the Colt Cadets until I graduate, then year with the Colts. After that hopefully Ill audition and make it into the Bluecoats until I age-out.
That ENERGY!!!! O-M-G!!!! I'm a high brass player but THIS my friends made me want to tip toe over to the low side! Awesome x100!!! Those pedal tones gave me my whole entire life! Yessuh!!! But that horn toss almost took me on out to glory!!!
Being a bone player and learning how to play baritone/euph for the 2018 season, hearing and seeing this just makes me so glad I'm a bone player. And btw those pedal notes are SEXY
I love this video soooo much. I’m glad I’m related to you low brass peeps. The toss and the “gotta nut” makes me proud hahahaha. I actually look up to this video. I’m in indoor winds and whenever I feel like things are getting hard I just think of this video and apply your kind of energy to my band. Thanks for making this!!!! #idol
Amazing video!!! I applaud your energy! When auditioning for a corps as a bari/euph, will I be expected to know trombone or will it be alright if I don't?
On the topic You're going to be out of tune playing trombone at first though. Try to keep in mind you have a tuning slide in your hands, so take positioning with a grain of salt. Embouchure adjustments to your tendencies basically aren't necessary anymore.
Hi my name is Marcus Allen and I am a baritone player just like you and I was wondering if you could give any lessons or tips to improve and march DCI one day thanks
This is fun to watch no lie! Any advice on being able to hold a baritone for long durations of time? I ask this because you drum corp guys are just so talented!
As a drum corps guy myself. Just hold it, do a little "horn holding party". Just hold you horn for a certain amount of time. Not every night, maybe once a week. Ex. Hold it at horns up position (5 minutes) Then bring it down to carry position (5 minutes) Slowly increase your time as weeks go by. I highly suggest listening to music. It helps take your mind off of your arms wanting to die.
when you audition, do you audition on either baritone or euphonium, or do you audition on one and they assign you one of those if you make it? also, are you expected to know trombone if you make it on bari or euph? hope you see this and reply
You can audition on either and the staff can put you on either if you make it. As to knowing trombone, I have no clue. But it's not that hard, the way I learned was to assign each slide position to a fingering.
Granted I'm not part of DCI, wish I could be, just not feasible, but I started with trombone and learned baritone and tuba. If you know how to read the music it's really to learn other bass clef instruments.
On the other hand, can you audition to only play trombone without being expected to know bari or euph? Bc for some reason I've always thought that you could just march trombone the whole time, but now I'm starting to doubt that.
JAVI how am I just now seeing this??? Bro! THAT WAS AWESOME! I was literally out of my chair when y’all were hyping for the last octet!

My dude!! 😭😭😭 I appreciate it greatly!

Hey Ben
There is also a drum line
@jazzjavi is it just me or do you play on 4 different horns? Lol
When you threw your euph I swear my life flashed before my life lol

Brady Wood me too. my heart just stopped. but part of me wanted to see him not catch it.
Brady Wood same.

Was it part of the show?
So YOU were the guy popping all those fat pedal tones in the ballad. XD
We have been expecting you
I was wondering where that awesome sound came from
i love bass trombone for that reason
Either this guy is coked out of his skull or he's having the best time of his life. I really hope it's the second one.
You can think whatever you like 😊😉
That’s just the baritone life style 🤪
nah it should be both
*watches lead trumpet cam* yea it'd be fun to play all those solos and high notes oh yea
*watches this cam* NEVERMIND, JUST GIVE ME A BASS BONE.
Ethan Hamilton its a tenor bass bones have a bigger bell and often 2 triggers
Sebas Becerra it's definitely a single trigger tenor. The difference is in the bore size.
john slattery the bore doesnt affect it all that much those baritones are yamaha which means theyre large bore nothing in the low brass section is small bore and I asked because my dci bari/euph tech marched batitone for the coats
Sebas Becerra sorry if I was unclear, I was referring to the difference between the tenor and bass trombones.
john slattery bore size doesn't really affect it either. It's the triggers. What makes a bass trombone a bass trombone is the fact that it has two triggers. The thing trigger alone can't hit a low b natural or lower without getting into pedal range. With the double trigger you can easily go below that making it a bass trombone
OMG THAT BARITONE TOSS SCARED THE CRAP OUT OF ME!! I really wanted to try it but I know ill end up breaking my wrist or something lmao.
Forget the wrist what about the horn? Lol
i seen it i wasnt ready
or worse, your horn
Or breaking the baritone.
No you’ll break your horn
I love how you're filled with so much energy. It almost cures my depression ( I don't have depression I'm just expressing how happy it makes me)
Lexie Mason thank you for such kind words :)
he reminds me of rue nani nah, especially at 6:14
I love that note at 9:23 for some reason
I love your coked out energy, it really adds so much more to the headcam than just good playing and marching
I'm blown away by your consistent energy throughout this whole performance, not just maintaining but thriving and enjoying every second
Rip microphone 11:04
I'm dead
@7:40 This shit gets me every time. I still love seeing this show. Miss you dude
Ninshi wait... is he not in the blue coats anymore😟
Though he may not be, this man bleeds blue
Those hornline Vocals killed me from 06:14 to 06:28Gawd!
i thought Jagged line was the original for the vocals
This video made me switch to bass trombone 3 years ago, this was a life changing video and i am now going to be a freshman in college persuing bass trombone. Thank you
It’s an honor to have inspired you, dude! Keep rocking that bass bone playing 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
I am so honored to march in the alumni Corps this year with you 2 spots behind you in the opening sets. 6W Javi See you in August.

My high school bought these baritones, and were very happy we get to use the world champions horns. Congrats on an amazing season dude.
My school bought some blue devils contras :p

As a bass bone player I LOVE this video. 11:15 must've been so much fun. Along with those pedal tones in the ballad. What's the lowest note you had to play for the show?
For me it was pedal G. My boy Brenton on the other side of the octet plays down to pedal Gb.
did your boy Brenton on the other side of the octet do a headcam video?
I love all the vocals you have during the show lol.
On another note, I hope to march bluecoats in a year, and performances like these are what motivate me to work towards it!

He’s literally the Rue Nani Nah of brass. I love it
Ladies and gentlemen, I think we have a new world record! Worlds highest thrown marching baritone at a whopping 10 feet!
Wait do Bluecoats march both euphs and baritones?
Also the chants are making my day😂
Zach H yep. We marched 8 Baritones and 16 Euphoniums
@@jazzjavi forgive me for asking, but what’s the difference between marching euphoniums and marching baritones?
@@williamsanborn9195 tubing diameter, one is more conical and another is more cylindrical. baritone gets a brighter tone and sticks out more

bobby43rocks not trying to be rude but a lot people in the Bluecoats are not native players of "x" instrument.
