One of the few Lifetime movies worth a damn. They showed us this in Jr high school back in 07 and while many laughed during most of the movie and reacted to it pretty much as you'd expect, everyone took this part very seriously. It wasn't funny anymore. Even the dudes who laughed could see how THIS can happen to them and we all reflected on if we'd do the same thing as the boys who killed Gwen or if in Gwen's position would we reveal the truth about transitioning.
It opened up a big class debate, I'll never forget it because some of the classmate literally said they would've reacted the same way. "I wouldn't be able to control my anger, I'd probably kill him too". But then there were people on the other side who literally cried after this part and mourned Gwen's death because we saw it around the 5 year anniversary and we lived in Fremont, right next to Newark.
Nonetheless it should be shown in schools, same as Angels in America which I saw in high school and sparked similar debates.

@lovegod1962 it was simply because they started to question their own sexuality. They took it out on the person they found very attractive to was born just as they were. Its sad but that is how men think. Get angry cause you thought a guy looked very good as a woman. Gwen was born a woman and never wanted to be like an everyday boy and they killed her for it. My heart goes out to the family.

Did we miss some of this movie? I've been watching it from the beginning but I don't see part 6 or 7. It jumps to 8. (Very sad how this world treats people they don't understand. I have 2 children. One boy. One girl. However I would NEVER love one more then the other just because of who they love. My son has been in a relationship with another man for nearly 3 years now. (I've been happily married for 17 years) I see my son go through EXACTLY THE SAME ISSUES I've gone through in my past relationships. There is NO DIFFERENCE. People need to do what makes them happy.

First time I saw this was when I was like 10. I still stay the same thing. They had a right to be pissed but they went way too far.
Saw this when I was 14 in school and the class was literally divided down the middle. People who admittedly said they would've done the same, the other half who couldn't believe they'd harm someone for this reason. I guess I'm still on the fence: Gwen didn't deserve to die, but not being honest with them about transitioning is psychologically damaging and could potentially ruin lives. But I guess the boys ended up ruining their own lives anyway...
